One of the points Julie mentioned in her post is that the family that was killed did not have a will. I believe it is imperative that every family have a will and Living Trust. It is so much easier if you start making them at a young age and review them once a year.

I was a young widow at 29 and if it weren't for the planning we did when we first got married, I would have been in very serious financial shape.

Just a word to the wise......

Good night all. I have a 9:50 AM flight in the morning but will check in later in the day. Have computer, will travel.

Yesterday night the very good friends of our friends were killed by someone who attacked them from another car with firearms. Apparently 45 caskets were found inside their car. As of now it looks like it was a revenge (the both come from very rich families, Peralta and Lopez Portillo) because of the way they were killed.

They leave a 4 year old boy and an almost 2 year old baby girl. My heart is breaking for them.

My heart goes out to them!:grouphug:

How did 45 caskets fit in thier car?

I hope that the children have family that will take good care of them. And keep them safe.

I suggest you get a stopwatch or timer like the kind the teacher uses and practice with her at home so she can get used to it. To start with, use reading material that's really easy for her. If she's just beginning, have her read just random letters or numbers to start. You want her to get used to doing the task while being timed, so the task itself should be very easy for her. Make a chart or graph and plot her score (number correct) each time so she can see her progress. Give her rewards for small increments of progress so she'll feel encouraged. If you're interested, I'd be happy to give you more details or discuss this with you in more depth. PM me, give me your phone # if you want and I'll give you a call.

Cheri, you better be careful or we just might take you up on your joking offering to do some tutoring on board!!! Your advice sounds great. Lisa

We should find out what each other does for a living....we know Karen sell Wine....

My brother in law once did an act with Robin Williams before he became famous. He was the ventriloquist and Robin was the "dummy".

My DSis went to High School with Robin Williams. Redwood High in San Rafael, CA.

Those of you who said you would vote for my sweet cousin. You can vote now at www.Missusa.com. She is Miss Utah.

I have been looking at some of the pageant sites who are ranking the contestants, and can I say YIKES!! Some people are not very nice, and some are downright scary. I sent one to her brother that seems like a stalker. She was really depressed 2 days ago because there are 2 contestants who are really nice on camera but really not nice the rest of the time because they just know they are the winners. She is much better today and having a blast!

Anyway, night all!!

Kim[/QUOTE]

Just voted!! Your niece is for sure the most photogenic of all those I looked at!:hippie:

I am bummed that I had to vote for 3!! She is Definitely the best of the bunch!

Best of luck!

Noel,

Great advice!! We set up all of our wills and trusts after my folks died as we learned a lot after dad passed away and wanted to protect my sister and our daughter if anything happened to us.

I am so sorry for your loss. It must have been very difficutly, especially when you were so young.

Good morning everyone!

We had a great St. Pat's Day dinner at my Dsis' house. She lives right behind us, so we just walk through our gate, down the stairs and into her gorgeous garden!!:woohoo:

We started with a really cool Sparkling wine from Australia! It was a Majella Sparkling Shiraz! Deep Garnet in color with a very fruity, but not sweet palate and a semi-dry finish. Really great for a starter.

Then with our Corned Beef, we went with one of the recomendations that I had put in an article that I wrote for our "In Benicia" magazine; Robert Hall's Rhone de Robles. This is an award-winning red-Rhone blend of 39% Grenache, 37% Syrah, 20% Cinsaut and 4% Counoise. It was perfect with the Corned Beef, if I say so myself, and is a lovely all around food wine!! ;)

We finished with a light, italian sparkling wine, Rotti, very inexpensive and light end-of evening sparkler. We enjoyed that while watching Casino Royal on my DSis' 57 inch DLP screen. SO COOL!!

Really enjoyed the flick. It is so in tune with the original Ian Fleming book! Really thought it was well done.:thumbsup2

Ok, off to bed soon, I need to get a lot done tomorrow!!

Oh, I am so so sorry and upset to read this. How awful for those little children and the rest of the family, and you too as close friends. Sending some love, thoughts and prayers.:sad1:

I'm a March baby, i am just celebrating my birthday with the cruise next year!!:)

Ahhh Haaa!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Do you think that I can get away with that as well. My birthday is in the forgotten month... December!!:rotfl:

The DIS will go down any minute!!

Talk to you tomorrow! Er, later today!!

Karen

Haven't caught up yet but did have a suggestion about the list that is being put together. If you get email addresses you could then email the list to everyone on the list -- that way everyone would know each other's email addresses which might make contact a little easier to set up meets prior to the cruise.

We could also start mapping out delivery routes on the ship. :rotfl:

Snow has yet to melt here. Not warm enough to have the windows open unless you want to freeze. Darn spring, where the heck are you???

Fiona

Good afternoon from the Uk. Only managed the couple of posts before the Dis went down, and then was out to Church. It is our Mother's Day here, so the children did a little something and we all received some daffodils! It is extremely windy and we have had some nasty squally snow showers too.:sad2:

And I am who?? Mrs Mork! Actually DrHug was Mork way before Mork was Mork. He was Mork since 1967.

I was going to ask you if your user name had anything to do with Mork and Mindy so thanks for sorting that out.

Ahhh Haaa!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Well, it is because it is my 60th birthday so I need something to cheer me up next year!!:lmao: My birthday will fall on Easter Sunday and all our children will be away, plus booking anywhere ourselves means serious money and children at that time of year!! Hence a later holiday. :yay:

I think anyone with a December birthday should always have a special summer date to celebrate too!:)
