Sadly, I have been known to do this before . . .
Speaking of May 10th, here's something new I learned from my cutie pie Alejandro: In Mexico, Mother's Day is May 10th...always, unlike ours in the U.S. being the 2nd Sunday of May. Not that anybody cares, but I just thought it was interesting. And since you mentioned May 10, that popped into my head because I just learned that a couple days ago.
Especially when it is late . . . .
Well, I'm happy to be the entertainment!![]()
I sent one in, and the lady laughed when she called and asked if I knew the others who had faxed in 15 months in advance. She just said that she would require a final list early spring next year.
We should find out what each other does for a living....we know Karen sell Wine....
I design and sell office furniture to very large office buildings. My DH, who will not be traveling with me, is a minister!!
My DH enjoyed tea at Palo. But, we may just be different than other folks. Our DGS14 had his 13th birthday party at our local tea house. He and 5 of his buddies learned the history and ettiquette of tea. They had a great time and the proprietor was thrilled to have gentlemen join her.
I am an accountant and DH is a manager of a grocery store.....
DH would love to be a botanist and I would love to be:
a face character at Disney
party planner
professional wine taster
OPI nail polish namer
seamstress for the Chippendales
MLB, NFL & NHL's official uniform sizer
among a multitude of other things....
Working at a law firm is actually a very good idea. We have a lot of lawyers in my family, so I had a good idea of what I was getting into, but it's a good experience to try it out before law school. I worked in a law firm during my last two years of law school, so I was able to graduate with a lot of experience (which is a lot more valuable IMHO than what you learn in school alone).
I finally had some dinner (leftover broccoli combined with leftover buttered egg-noodles). Not gourmet, but it worked. I could still go for a bellini though!
I care. Every year at school the kids celebrate this day by honoring us moms with breakfast and songs/dance/poems. It is beautiful. Now I get it why it's always on the 10th. Before I really just thought it was close to "our" mothers day, actually the school was once again honoring our Hispanic/Mexican culture. Thanks for that info.
I hope this is not a rude question, it is mere curiosity. Do ministers in the US have a fixed salary, and if they do who pays for it?
In Mexico most of us are catholic, and our priests do not have a fixed salary, of course they are not married and don´t have families to support, and will live in the houses that are built next to the Church, and this is maintained by the money from the collection that takes place at every mass.
Thank you! There's not enough humor in the world, so I'm just trying to do my part.I love your good sense of humor Holly!![]()

I'm not the ministers wife, but I can answer how it's done in our church...Church of Christ (non demoniation Christain) the minister (sometimes called a pastor in other faiths) is paid a salary. We have a number of paid positions minister, youth minister, assitant youth minister, church secretary etc... the funds are raised thru the specific congreation and we operate our own budget. I know of other faiths that have a more global approach to this, but we operation basically like a grassroots organization.

I think the Catholic church pretty much operates the same way around the world. Some priest and nuns here in San Jose that we know also live in house around the city. As a matter of fact on my street 6 houses down from us is a house (very large, added a 2nd story to a big home to begin with) is lived in by a group of nuns. They have lived there as long as I can remember. We live/own the house I grew up in (we bought it from my parents 8+ years ago) My daugher is in the bedroom that I had as a little girl.
Other priests that I know (DH, Paul is Catholic) live in church owned houses that are on campus (Santa Clara University)
I am a lawyer too and dh is an industrial engineer.
What kind of Law do you practice?

Are there any Amazing Race fans out there? We missed the end of Sunday's show and then saw a promo for this week saying Rob and Amber are out???? What happened?? I'll have to get online to see what I can find out.
That's really cool! What a nice way to celebrate mother's day.
and better now that I know why it's on that day...
Sounds like you had a great night out! How fun!![]()
but I miss my boys. I hate it when they travel. I don't like to stay home alone, I'm a fraidy cat.
China sounds wonderful...my mom went a couple years ago to do the Great Wall Marathon. She had some strange stories. One thing she told me is that really little kids (possibly potty training) wore pants with the back slit open so when they had to relieve themselves, they would just squat in the road and go.

I don't know if she asked anybody about that or is making assumptions based on what she saw, but it sure sounds strange!
Oh! Thanks for clarifying! I guess my mom wasn't just making that up. I always think it's interesting to learn how things are done differently in other countries.Sounds totally normal from what I saw my friend from Singapore do with her boys...more like no dress at home so that they go when and where ever they want. Very early potty training, like before 2 years old, even like starting at 1 year. She was visiting one day with her son and no diapers and she enough he peed right on the carpet in Molly's room. Not my cup of tea, but oh well, get out the pet spot remover and clean the carpet.
Yes, it would appear that I did, but I didn't...honest! Guess I just couldn't place the name with the whole mascot banter. Thank you for refreshing my memory! (I wish I had a refresh button on my brain that works like the one on the computer!)

I can't tell you how many times I changed my major in college...there are so many things that are just very interesting to me. I started as a dance major...(went to a performing arts high school) had I gone to FSU, I would bet I would be just as poor as I am now but dancing somewhere....anthropology was another wonderful semester....but it seems everything I love and have any interest in just seems to be on the low end of the money scale. Retail, I love working in retail and really I am pretty good at it...I had a small stint at Publix, my task was to dress up and sell fruit cakes. I sold my whole table in an hour, the bakery people did not know what to do...but that was back in my hotness days. Now I would have to offer a free shot or something!! But retail hours are a killer....
Now I HATE fruitcake . . . but V is being modest here. V could sell me a fruitcake. Today, tomorrow, or next year.
Julie: The maid(s) could have thrown the laundry at you hence you would be under it....just kidding.....glad you checked in we missed you.
Working on our own has been the best thing for both of us. We both spend alot of time with the kids. DH does the morning school stuff, I have them in the afternoon. We both do school field trips whenever we want to. We take a good amount of time off every year vacationing (4-6 weeks) but always have our cell phones with us during those times (except on the cruise) so clients really always come first even when we travel....being self employed we always feel like we have to take on work when it's offered since we never know when it might be gone. We have been fortunate that we both work exclusively from referrals from past/current clients. DH is the only lawyer I know that can walk into an employee termination meeting and walk out with all docs signed and having a new client.
okay enough of my blabbermouth...the new Jeff Goldbloom show is starting...nite from me see ya tomorrow.
OK! Whole new thing. Let's put together a May Repo 2008 Panama Canal Cooking Book! I will do this! And this is the first recipe! Post you recipes on this thread - not PM! I will search our thread, make a pamplet of all the recipes posted and then hand out on the cruise. This will be great. I have a fabulous recipe for brownies that comes from my Grandma (92yrs old). I will include it - but you need to give her the credit! Please share your favorite, and this will be a perfect fish extender stuffer.
Thanks,
Lisa
Yesterday DD's skirt was a bit funky (the pleats were all poufy) so I told her to take it off so I could iron it before school. She was absolutely shocked that I knew how to iron and DH couldn't believe that we actually own one!Yup, a wash, dry and wear kind of family here!
Do we want to know how you made this extra cash or will it fall under TMI?
Karen
Hi, I'm John. My wife is Granmaz (Marilyn). Thought I would join so I could talk to here occasionally!!! and see what she gets up to!!!! (Joke). I cannot remember names, so thought it would be good to start trying to remember some soon as it will be good to meet you many of you.![]()
Hi John. Going to have to be careful what I post now aren't I?!!!

Oh, before I forget. Regarding the Dec meet at WDW. I believe it is Mousefest weekend there so resorts may be a little busier, and also last year MGM was closed to the public on the Friday evening for the Pop Warner bash. I imagine Pop Warner will be that week again.
At least they gave me a tutu to match my Tigger shirt!
:
A wash, dry and wear family here too if I had to do the ironing, lol. I would much rather wear a wrinkled shirt than iron it myself.

Hey everyone! I have 2 more days to catch up on, but we saw a movie last night we both really liked. Breach... It was great!!!
Today was build a bear -- yes, I know, Disney on Ice, and the parade... But it was great weather in SLC today!!!
Steve was on T.V. tonight. They asked him about the mayor of SLC while we were in the ladies room... You leave for a sec and look what happens!!
Those of you who said you would vote for my sweet cousin. You can vote now at www.Missusa.com. She is Miss Utah.
I have been looking at some of the pageant sites who are ranking the contestants, and can I say YIKES!! Some people are not very nice, and some are downright scary. I sent one to her brother that seems like a stalker. She was really depressed 2 days ago because there are 2 contestants who are really nice on camera but really not nice the rest of the time because they just know they are the winners. She is much better today and having a blast!
Anyway, night all!!
Kim
Shazbot!!!
(Ok, DH just made it home and informed me that he was Mork in some play in 8th grade! Truly a renaissance man!)
