OK, before I go do "other" important things, I wanted to post another shot that my DD took of herself in Bodega. The sunset behind her is the view from our porch!!

Well after two days without a computer at work, I'm back in business. (or should I say disboard business? :cool1: )

Did I miss anything?

Oh and it was GOOD too! I'm not too fond of the later time period myself, as I've been known to doze off during that last hour of prime time!
Glad to know it was good...gives me something to look forward to when I get home! Leaving work early (11:30) to go register for classes, then home to take a nap, watch Lost, and go to the gym before meeting a few girls at Alex's restaurant. :goodvibes

OK, so how does a rolling case end up with a hatchet in it?

Sorry, I wasn't clear. My DH didn't want me to get a rolling case because they've gotten so many laptops in with crashed disk drives because they were in rolling cases and the person doing the "rolling" wasn't very careful.

The laptop with the hatchet in it wasn't in a rolling case. It was just somebody who was very mad at their laptop!

Do you really trust expensive camera stuff to TSA?

No I don't, I just put the bulky rechargers and more inexpensive stuff in the checked luggage.

(And best of luck to your Buckeyes tonight! I really need them to win to keep my first place in the office March Madness pool.)

morning all:

I'm up early for me. Must get out to work on stuff for a meeting @ 10:30am....

Just wanted to say hi & GOOD MORNING!!!!:goodvibes  :goodvibes

Good morning to you too. Have a good day.

DH can't make it that late so I have to summarize it for him the next day. i wish they would show it again on Saturday's like they did last season for awhile.

Don't forget everyone - new Grey's Anatomy tonight - preview during Lost last night make it look good. (Of course they are reshowing tomorrow at 8pm if you miss it tonight.)

Off to work...

They used to show reruns on abc.com. I don't know if they are still doing it but I will check it out. Yes I checked so those that do not have TIVO or did not tape it it is on-line.

I suspect those same persons would have had problems no matter how carried their computers. Personally, I prefer my rolling Tumi as it fits quite nicely under the seat in front of me. I am careful to roll my case, not bang it up stairs or put it in the overhead bin.

My chargers etc. all fit into the Tamrac case.

I can't believe I missed all the Harry Potter talk. I love those books. I also think Snape will turn out to be a good guy in the end. I just hope they don't kill Harry at the end of the last book.

Good morning to you too. Have a good day.

Samantha is a member of a Sorority called Kappa Alpha Theta. Their mission statement is as follows:

Yesterday, today, and tomorrow, Kappa Alpha Theta exists to nurture each member throughout her college and alumnae experience and to offer a lifelong opportunity for intellectual and moral growth as she meets the higher and broader demands of mature life.

Kappa Alpha Theta (ΚΑΘ) is an international women's fraternity founded on January 27, 1870 at DePauw University. The organization currently has 124 chapters at colleges and universities across the United States and Canada with a total initiated membership of 170,000. Currently, it is one of the five largest sororities.Kappa Alpha Theta, also known as Theta, was the first Greek letter organization founded for college women.

Kappa Alpha Theta was founded as a fraternity for women in 1870 and was established to give women a support group in the then mostly-male college world at what is now DePauw University. Indiana Asbury, as the university was known then, officially opened its doors to women in 1867, thirty years after the college was first established. Four women, Bettie Locke (Hamilton), Alice Allen (Brant), Bettie Tipton (Lindsay) and Hannah Fitch (Shaw), sought to create an organization for women that would provide the encouragement and support that would draw women to coeducational colleges and help them attain a degree. It was with these ideals in mind that the four women founded Kappa Alpha Theta, and believed in the Fraternity's strength through its members' lasting loyalty to each other and to the Fraternity ideals.

Kappa Alpha Theta, the first Greek-letter organization known among women, was based in part on two Fraternities with which Bettie Locke had contact; Beta Theta Pi, her father's fraternity, and Phi Gamma Delta (Fiji), her brother's fraternity. Bettie had many friends in Fiji, and when members asked her to wear their badge as a "mascot," Bettie declined. She said she could not wear it as she did not know the secrets and purposes represented by the letters. She followed her father's suggestion to begin her own fraternity for women, and so Kappa Alpha Theta was conceived. Bettie and her friend Alice Allen together wrote a constitution, planned ceremonies, designed a badge, and sought other women on campus worthy of membership. It took these women 3 years to found Kappa Alpha Theta. These four founding members initiated themselves on January 27, 1870, becoming the first Greek-letter fraternity known among women.

These four women proudly wore their black and gold badges to Asbury's chapel service on March 14. The Alpha Chapter at Asbury grew to 22 sisters. Soon Kappa Alpha Theta spread to other colleges with Bettie's establishment of the Beta Chapter at Indiana University in May of the same year. After the formation of Theta the men of Phi Gamma Delta presented Bettie with a silver cake basket engraved with their letters as a token of appreciation.

Through the years, Kappa Alpha Theta has grown to its current size of 124 college chapters, 282 alumnae groups, and more than 170,000 members. In 2005, Kappa Alpha Theta celebrated its 135th anniversary.

Some symbols of Kappa Alpha Theta are twin stars, a black and gold pansy, and the kite, which all represent the fraternity ideals of sisterhood.

Some famous Theta's are:

Laura Bush (Beta Sigma, Southern Methodist) - wife of President George W. Bush.
Lynne Cheney (Beta Omega, Colorado College) - wife of Vice President Dick Cheney.
Melinda Gates (Beta Rho, Duke) - wife of Bill Gates; Co-founder of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Thank you and I am sure we will. Plans are for a welcoming cocktail party on Friday evening, the Breast Cancer walk on Saturday, followed by a picnic at USD. After the picnic, off to La Jolla for a spa afternoon. On Sunday, we will have a brunch on Harbour Island. I will fly home late Sunday.

:rotfl: I would clean the house through and tidy cupboards etc before the cleaning lady came if I had one!!!

I am the same way!! Have to have a tidy house, so the cleaning lady can do the "rough". San Diego is a lovely place but since the state is so large, you have to make a choice on which way you go since we land in Los Angeles. My thought is more ships should sail from San Diego. The port there is so gorgeous to sail from and people could start at the bottom of the state and work up.

Just my thoughts....

Hi Kim

Did you get your fish extender? I got mine and it is so cute.

Just popping in to say good morning before I take DS9 to the dentist. I forgot to tell you all that he knocked out a good portion of both of his front teeth (about 1/3 of each one) on our very first day of vacation in Hawaii on a waterslide. We rushed him to a dentist who said he would be able to keep what remained of his teeth, thank goodness. We waited until we got home to have them bonded, however, so we could have it done by his regular dentist. Hopefully, he will have his usual bright smile back by lunchtime.:beach:

I did virtually the same thing on the first day of 6th grade. I had already recieved by adult teeth and had to get bridge. Had bonded working until I was 18, the my dentist did a very nice bridge for me, on one ever knows my front teeth are fake.

Sounds so lovely.:)

I think it would take many vacations to see all that your State has to offer. We have seem much, but that will only scratch the surface I know.

Some symbols of Kappa Alpha Theta are twin stars, a black and gold pansy, and the kite, which all represent the fraternity ideals of sisterhood.

I am a Tri-Delta, and we also use the Pansy to represent our alumnea members.
Here are some of our symbols and meanings

The pearl is the jewel of Tri Delta. It was chosen to symbolize the new member because it is the one jewel that grows, developing from a tiny grain of sand into a thing of great value and beauty.

The pine tree is a symbol of Tri Delta's collegiate members because it represents growth and lofty aspirations.

The pansy is Tri Delta's flower. It is a symbol of alumnae membership and the third step in the lifetime development of Delta Delta Delta's members.

The dolphin was considered a good omen by the ancient Greeks. It symbolized rebirth, friendship and leadership. In Tri Delta the dolphin is symbolic of clear skies and smooth sailing and has special significance for Fraternity leaders.

OUR PURPOSE
Written in 1888 by Sarah Ida Shaw, Boston
THE PURPOSE OF DELTA DELTA DELTA shall be to establish a perpetual bond of friendship among its members, to develop a stronger and more womanly character, to broaden the moral and intellectual life, and to assist its members in every possible way.
IT SHALL ALSO BE THE PURPOSE OF DELTA DELTA DELTA to promote and develop mutually beneficial relationships between the Fraternity and the colleges and universities where the Fraternity has established chapters, to develop qualities of unselfish leadership among its members, and to encourage them to assume, with integrity and devotion to moral and democratic principles, the highest responsibilities of college women.

Some interesting members,
Sara Blakely, Florida State, founder and owner of SPANX
Leeza Gibons, South Carolina
Katie Couric, Virginia
Maria Cribbs Owens, Baylor, Brigadier General United States Air Force
JoAnna Garcia, Florida State, she stars on REBA, the oldest daughter
