John1...I do want to hear your opinions on the new mac stuff...I'm still teetering on the fence with switching over!

Monica...glad to hear things are going better for you...and yes it is a horrible catch 22 between exercise and depression. It sounds like you have broken that cycle though and 2008 will be great for you!

Deb...:cheer2: 16 days! good job! And, don't always look at the numbers on the scales, look at he physical changes and how you are feeling. When I am doing weigh in's with people on my programs, there is always 1 week a cycle where my female patients stay the same or go the opposite direction. So...this week was probably that week for you!

Nan...got the invites to the group. Thanks! I skimmed the area last night and it looks like most of the kids who were chatting before are now not going. It would be great to help them all start some chit chat, let me know if you need any help.

V...looks like I may get to meet up earlier because it isn't looking so good for me to get into the class. :sad2: But, Scott said this am I should go into the lobby with a smile on my face, my fax confirmation sheet and there is no way they will say no to me! :lmao:

Well, better run to work to make some extra money to pay for this "vacation" I didn't know I was taking!

Hi, I have been with you guys since the start. I try to keep up, but have only read about a third of what has been written. I'm not much for posting, its hard to know what to say. Deb's (EllaEnchanted) PM requesting information had peeked my interest in what the group might be saying, so I have been checking out the thread more often and I must say that thread has become a lot more user friendly with more information being brought out. I don't know if it because we are getting close to the 90 day mark or what. I do appreciate the information that is being passed around, since even though we have been on the Magic before, we have never been to California and Disneyland. We are truly going to enjoy this trip.

Hi , nice to see you. Yes, I think the 90 day mark is increasing our excitement and jump starting planning modes.

It took 1 hour 15 minutes to walk four miles, as we had to wait for some traffic lights.

The walks at home and onboard always seem much shorter when you have someone to talk to. I hope to walk with you.

Woody

You WILL - at least 1 of the sea days:rotfl:

I meant to post these last night, but son took a spill and sprained his ankle, got stuck in doctor's office.

Would someone please explain "fish extenders" and "gifting".

Thanks

Me too! I just made my final payment and went to look up my '0' balance due and it still said GTY. At least I can book my excursions on Feb 10th. That should be plenty of time for the payment to process. It sure feels good knowing that it's done! Now to save some money for the actual cruise.:cool1:
Final payment is a great milestone. Roll on the booking day. There are going to be so many of us on our computers at 12mn ET. It will be 5am here!

Good Morning V.....I think that Noel is handling brunches and dinners and I'm handling the teas. I didn't mean that I'm not doing them, I meant that I'm not handling them. Sorry! That was a bit confusing.

The no smoking is still very hard but we're on day 16 today. I think John is having an easier time then I am. He's at work all day and can't smoke there anyway. I'm at home and very used to being able to freely smoke. But the good news is, neither one of us has given in and cheated. So, we're on our way to recovery, no matter how hard it still is.....we're doing the right thing and will beat it.

How's Tebow? Is he growing fast?

Well done Deb and John for 16 days and no cheating.

Just popping in for a quick Hello so you won't all forget me! I have NO chance to read even a single post today. Super swamped at work and I have to be gone part of the work day for a doc appt to get more of my preventative migraine meds. I've been out of them for 2 weeks, so I can't postpone this appt any longer. It's been almost a constant migraine ever since about 2 days after my last pill ran out. :guilty:

I'll try to find a spot tonight after Tyler goes to his dad's where I can use the internet and catch up a bit! Probably our local library. :)

How could we ever forget you Holly?:lmao: However it is great you took time to pop in.:thumbsup2

Thanks Kelly, these are great tools to use....and I'll do anything as long as it helps. Right now I'm doing a small ziploc bag of cheerios, eating them one at a time and lots of water and cinnamon gum, sugarless of course. Everything helps.....that's what has kept me honest to date.

I'm a little bummed.....I got on the scale and learned that I gained 5 lbs in the past week and I've been doing the exact same diet. I've even started doing some exercises. I should have lost more, but instead gained. I think it's the metabolism changes from not smoking anymore. It's ok though because I read where the metabolism will readjust after a while, so I just have to give it some more time and continue with the diet and exercises. Eventually, it will even out and I should start losing again. It's a little discouraging though because I was doing so well with the weight loss.

Keep going - just a blip, you'll make it.

V and Deb - it has taken me a looooooooooooong time to be able to get to where I am today. I've been dealing w/ depression (like Carol) since I was 12yo, and have had a really bad year w/ that this year (worst year to date). Drs have been playing w/ different meds since March, and it appears I'm FINALLY on something that is working. :yay: It was so bad earlier this year that even the parks and scrapbooking didn't hold any joy for me and I couldn't do either one (I'm still struggling w/ the scrapbooking).

Until about 2-3 weeks ago everything was just too overwhelming...I'd have thoughts of what I wanted to do, but couldn't get any of it done. GP gave me a hard time (sort of) cuz I have the stationary bike in my living room facing the tv and yet I couldn't get on it....he did say that it's like a catch 22 as exercise would help the depression, but the depression wouldn't let me get on the bike.

I'm just glad that I'm able to tackle little things now....and if it wasn't for Will I can tell you the furniture would have stayed where it was!

Oh Monica.:grouphug:

I meant to post these last night, but son took a spill and sprained his ankle, got stuck in doctor's office.

Would someone please explain "fish extenders" and "gifting".

Thanks

Hi there! DCL has fish mailboxes ouside each stateroom door. We put up fish extenders so that we can receive lots of mail from our fellow DISers.....basically it's additional pockets to hold the mail. Gifting is something that some disers choose to be a part of. We have some fish teams and we have some individuals who will give gifts to each of the disers on our list. You don't have to give a gift in order to receive one, but it would be helpful to have a fish extender to hold the gifts. The gifts are not expensive, just some fun things mostly for the kids to play with.

I hope I explained that clearly and so that you now have a better idea. If you look back some pages, Karen/been2marceline posted pictures of her decorated fish extender.

If you're interested in getting on a fish team to do gifting with a group, PM, when you hit 10 posts, Lisa/calmom. She is organizing teams for gifting.

In PV - as far as DCL excursions go..this is what we are limited to with our age group:
Paradies Beach Adventure $178
Las Caletas Hideaway $268
Pirate Boat Sail and Snorkel $270
PV City Tour $120
Historic Towns and Tequila Making $158

I really want to go to Chico's Paradise and a beach...the Las Calentas looks great too. John is hesitant to rent a jeep and go off on our own. But I am working on that. I am so sure the girls would love the historic tour and the complimentary shots of tequila. IDK....I have read now that you can't get to Las Caletas without doing a tour...I am not sure if that is true.

I am limited in what I can do since I have a 4 year old to include. In PV I am thinking of trying for the Las Caletas excursion too. I have heard it is limited to 150 people only so I am hoping we can book it. I found mention of it on a few sites and it seems to be a good day trip.

It is supposed to be owned by vallarta-advantures everal sites say. They have some info on it on their site and list their own tour times and cost. Adult cost is the same but the child cost is MORE through them but children go up to 12 not 9 like Disney states.

Seems to be the kind of thing I am looking for.

Sorry to hear about your son, hope he is ok!
I see that Deb explained the fish extenders....:)

Hope everything is ok w/ Cameron. Glad to see you're on board w/ us.

Ah now I think that goes for many people on here as I usually multi quote because of coming on in the morning to loads of pages every day after you all have been chatting, so it is easier. I sometimes felt nobody read my multi quoted posts!!!
Awww....Marilyn, I read EVERY post! :goodvibes

in my research last night, I was studying the excursions. I sure wish they had a nice printout that listed all the info side by side....but,

I am glad I am not the only one packing! But as I was counting the outfits I think I am way short...how many outfits is everyone bringing for kids? You know, they tend to mess up easier!
I always travel with one outfit per day for Tyler. I'm lucky in that he's one of those freakish kids who can't stand to be messy and works hard to NOT make a mess! :rotfl: Actually, I guess I've never heard of a kid like that! But now that makes sense with the OCD diagnosis I suppose.

Sorry to hear about your son, hope he is ok!
I see that Deb explained the fish extenders....:)

Son is okay, just can't do karate, no running, jumping, etc. for the next week. Deb did explain fish extenders, didn't know the fish was a mail box. I will let my wife pursue this.

Hope everything is ok w/ Cameron. Glad to see you're on board w/ us.

Son is in good shape, thank you. Glad to be aboard. We almost cancelled last month. With the houseing slow down, finances have been really tight. We are now looking at the different excursions. Excitement all around!

Hey all...

been off a few days... been a bit under the weather...

Did lose 7 1/2 lbs... but it was food poisoning

What a way to make my months goal... :sad2:
