While waiting in the doctor's office, we realized we haven't made reservations for our arrival in Orlando. Where is everyone staying? Going to try to see if we can get into BCV, but at this time likely too late. Probably end up at SSR. Our flight doesn't arrive until 5pm on Friday anyway.

SSR - Grand Villa with our Geek cruisemates.

I went to lunch with a co-worker and were discussing her two week cruise to Alaska...she said she only took $500 cash with her. I am guessing we'd need cash for:
excursion food/drinks/tips/cabs, etc
tips at the port

DL will take cc....
what else would we need cash for?

Souvenirs, photos, post cards
Postage stamps at Castaway Cay.

Nan,

Sorry to hear about Paul and the loss of clients. Haven't talked about it for awhile, but as bad as it sometimes may be (and I had a terrible day today with some issues) for now I am sticking where I am. I just don't think I have the energy or drive right now with everything else to try going out on my own. Paul's experience makes me even more skittish.

I use attorneys at our office and HATE to make changes. I only recommend them when we have to due to lack of attention or performance. There are some areas where I have the general expertise, but not the specific, and it is then that I turn it over to someone who is actively practicing.

OK, going to go and try to watch a stream of the MacWorld keynote.

I know what was announced, just like to see Steve do it and immerse myself in the reality distortion field.

Don't tell anyone . . .

But I heard . . . .

That on our cruise . . . .

Will be . . . .

The infamous . . . .

Caught here by a paparazzi at a bar . . . .

Thank you I needed that chuckle! Will he be doing any autograph sessions ?

Morning Karen. Hope each day you are feeling much better.

We need someone to do lanyards. Fiona(cdnmickeylover) who cancelled yesterday was organising them I seem to remember Linda(Seaulater) also offered so perhaps she will take them on.

Try this: "How about if we let him try it for 4-6 months to give him an idea of what it is like to understand life with his head not spinning. The ability to make decisions and be organized for once in his life will let him have a taste of how to do it and give him a chance to learn how to do it without the meds. A person with ADHD literally stands in front of something for minutes with their head spinning trying to figure out what to do first - often resulting in doing nothing! We lack the capability to prioritize. The meds may teach him how to do it without the meds." Tell him that is a quote from the drug guys. He may not know who we are where you live, but we are very famous in high end private schools here and are about to be nationally syndicated. Hope that helps.

Will post list of restaurants in a few minutes.

I have ADD and even with medicine some days are hard. I have no energy and don't want to do anything unless I take my medicine then everything gets done and I pay attention in class. It is hard to deal with but you learn to cope. I just wish there was a better medication than I am on.

well all you expert travelers, we are in a bit of a pickle here and could use some advice.
we are taking along the parents which are.... well, in their very late 70's.
we booked the panama trip on board the Mediterranean cruise and when we got home, forgot to buy the travel insurance within the 14 days of booking.
doing this allows for a waiver of any pre-existing medical conditions.
well. now that were looking into it. We can get insurance , but none will cover anything pre-existing.
well, my DFIL is one big pre existing condition.
and im concerned that if anything happens on the trip, nothing will be covered.
any suggestions?
is there a policy i can pay extra for that will cover him?

maybe we'll just ditch em.:scared1:

Alex

That's what it is. Thanks so much!

Molly already saw the Gingerbread Man in our driveway. My cranky son will not play. He refused to believe he was there. Not to worry, Molly and I can live in our own little world together. :rolleyes1

Yeah, in this situtation it's purely a case of new CEO bringing in her own boy. Just a pisser, because you can spend all the time and energy you have doing good work and still get bounced. Funny thing is that Paul left corporate GC job because of this very thing. He was in house, and a new CEO came and rehired all around the place and layoff everyone in legal, but his new boy. That was way back in '01. Ya think you are over it and it just bites you again. Oh well.

Ok, my dgs has a shool project that I could use help from some of you. They are studying maps and have a gingerbread man that has run away. His teacher would like people from all over to send in postcards saying that they saw him near their house. They will then locate and post where he was seen. If anybody is willing to send a postcard please let me know and I will pm you the address. They need the name of the city and state or country.

I will do it too!

Hi Lori,
Do you think your two sons would like to start PMing my two sons? They are very close in age. I have a 4th grader and 2 grader (and pre-k and toddler). Is there anyone else out there with 4th grade boys or 2nd grade boys?? I think they would be more in the clubs if they knew other boys. I think. Lisa

My boys are also in 4th grade and 2nd grade, so that would be perfect. I know DS10 started to use the littleshipofthieves site on the yahoo groups when it was first started, but I don't know if it's still going. I know DS10 hasn't been on it in a long time. Send me a pm.

Alex

I found something for my mom when we went to China last summer, not sure if it had pre-existing. I'll look it up and get back to ya. Another thought is to email the company and ask them to offer service to you after you give them full disclosure of the facts of your situtation. Ya never know, they may work with ya.:confused3

Our son is in the 4th grade, and I am sure he will be hanging out in the clubs as much as possible. He loves being independent. I'm sure they will meet once on board.

I think after the master list is made, we will have a better handle on how many kids and their ages. I also have a fourth grader. Some of the kids started using a yahoo group to meet each other (password protected), but I think it was a little hard to get the hang of. And the cruise was so far away that the kids sort of stopped using it. Now that it's getting closer, maybe the kids will start using it again. They were also able to post photos there.

On the problem with pm'ing. I think the post count needs to be 10. Post some more and check it out.

Thanks for all the support and :grouphug: regarding my family situation. I have done some thinking and decided I can not change them and can't keep worrying and wondering how I can change things. There are some things we have control over and some we don't. I started school today so I got alot busier and can't keeo trying to fix everyone's life. They won't listen to me anyway. The thing that bothered me the most is I had not seen these people in years and they all said oh look its his daughter. No one like my dad but I still love him. my cousin and mom told me not to worry everyone knows I am not him and its his loss not mine.

hi! my wife is making me say something - so "hello". I honestly don't know what to say on these things. So I look forward to meeting you all as I feel like I know you all like my own family because of my wife's non-stop reading and updating me.

Take care - I'm not sure if or when I'll write again.

paul

so much for my chatty husband. I had been telling him thru out the afternoon that you had been wishing him well and he kept saying that's nice, thanks etc...so I logged in for him and told him to say hello, but as it goes...you can lead a DH to Disneyland, WDW and DCL but you can't make him a DISer...:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I suspect he may join us in the last month prior but who knows....He thinks the DIS is a time suck, of course surfing the net for cars and go-karts is productive....:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

naps work too!!:thumbsup2

I'm a big believer in naps. :thumbsup2 Of course, I still can't seem to make it to the nighttime stuff. The last time we tried, we got paged to pick up our DS at the club. He was tired and wanted to leave. Our boys can make it until about 10:30 or so and then they're usually exhausted. Too young to leave them in the room, too. That's my excuse anyway. Actually, neither one of us are much of night owls. Guess we're getting old.
