I think after the master list is made, we will have a better handle on how many kids and their ages. I also have a fourth grader. Some of the kids started using a yahoo group to meet each other (password protected), but I think it was a little hard to get the hang of. And the cruise was so far away that the kids sort of stopped using it. Now that it's getting closer, maybe the kids will start using it again. They were also able to post photos there.

On the problem with pm'ing. I think the post count needs to be 10. Post some more and check it out.

Thanks on the pm issue, I am trying to reach that number. Son may be interested in contacting other kids his age, as we get closer to sailing.

For the insurance question..There is a website where you can get insurance. I don't remember the name, but google travel insurance and maybe that will get you a good link. We were talking about it on the thread before I went on the med cruise as none of us purch. disney and there was some rule that you had to buy before a certain date to not exclude things. I'll try to find the link on the med thread, but it's hundreds of pages and I don't remember when we were discussing it.

Seems like DS10 gets annoyed when DS6 is BREATHING.

Wil has taken to making noise all the time lately, just to annoy his sister. Works like a charm everytime she turns to him and says "SHUT UP" and then she gets in trouble for talking so unkindly to her brother. :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao: The Master at getting his sister mad and in trouble...Wilson....

Nan,

Sorry to hear about Paul and the loss of clients. Haven't talked about it for awhile, but as bad as it sometimes may be (and I had a terrible day today with some issues) for now I am sticking where I am. I just don't think I have the energy or drive right now with everything else to try going out on my own. Paul's experience makes me even more skittish.

I use attorneys at our office and HATE to make changes. I only recommend them when we have to due to lack of attention or performance. There are some areas where I have the general expertise, but not the specific, and it is then that I turn it over to someone who is actively practicing.

Working for yourself is always risky. DH is a freelancer with NBC. Because of the writers' strike, the network has lost lots of ad revenue. The first week of Dec., they announced that absolutely no freelancers could be hired until the first of the year because they were out of money. :headache: DH had planned on working most of that time because of the caucus here in Iowa. He had turned down other work because he was planning on being so busy. The life of a freelancer is so up & down. Although with all the factory closings that have been happening lately, I guess working a "secure" job with a company isn't anymore secure than being self-employed.

At least his production company had a good month, so the cruise was saved. December was kind of a make-or-break month for us. I was reeaallllly thinking we shouldn't be spending this amount of money on a vacation, but DH prevailed and we are definitely going. :thumbsup2

Well it is after 1.30 in the morning. What am I doing here? I went to bed and fell asleep then woke up straight away and that was it. Too much going on in my mind. All the planning and all I have to do for this cruise is getting to me, and I am on to planning our December vacation now! Oh the worry!:lmao:

So many vacations, so little time!! :lmao:

Is your DH not covering the election stuff? I would think that would be prime spot to cover and be home at the same time, no?

Thanks for all the support and :grouphug: regarding my family situation. I have done some thinking and decided I can not change them and can't keep worrying and wondering how I can change things. There are some things we have control over and some we don't. .

Wise words.

hi! my wife is making me say something - so "hello". I honestly don't know what to say on these things. So I look forward to meeting you all as I feel like I know you all like my own family because of my wife's non-stop reading and updating me.

Take care - I'm not sure if or when I'll write again.

paul

Hey, Paul!! Great to see another hubby joining in the fun!

Ok, I had a HORRIBLE day today (leaving on Th for a seminar in Tampa and was told today they don't have my registration and the seminar is sold out:headache:  I think I have things figured out but I won't know for sure until tomorrow. Any pixie dust that it all works out will be greatly appreciated, otherwise it will be a vacation for me when I really can't afford one, don't need one and can't get the credit I needed to get. On a side note, I get to meet V on Friday night :cool1: Girls night at a bar I think:dance3: )....

but THANK YOU...John1 for the post about Bobby, gave me a great laugh when it was needed and
Nan, thank Paul for me...his post cracked me up, but more than that was his location he listed as "with Nan" thought that was so cute!:thumbsup2

John,

What did your friend Stevey say today? Just heard a blurb about new way to rent movies...ya ya, waiting....unless they are coming to me via the wind, I'm sticking with my blockbuster.com

Kaylee,

Good luck. What a pain, I hope you can get your credits and have a fun girls night out with V. Paul says huh??? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: not to worry I've got him with me and under control.

Thanks Nan.

I meant to ask here what people thought of the new apple stuff. Besides size is there anything great about the macbook air that makes it better than a macbook? It seems to be 700-800 more than the traditional macbook.

Our son is in the 4th grade, and I am sure he will be hanging out in the clubs as much as possible. He loves being independent. I'm sure they will meet once on board.

Great!
I'm going to try the right clicking tonight since so many find it easier to read this way than multi-posting....wish me luck! Lisa

Lisa,

I was just telling Wilson about your boys. I couldn't remember if you had a son the same age, but they are. Wil is in 2nd grade, he will be 8 in Feb. I hope we can get them to meet before cruise.

Are you up for a meet in the Spring up north, Karen mentioned a park.

That would be great! Wil is Jack's age - he will be 8 in May (right before the cruise - we will probably celebrate there). A park sounds great! Lisa

well all you expert travelers, we are in a bit of a pickle here and could use some advice.
we are taking along the parents which are.... well, in their very late 70's.
we booked the panama trip on board the Mediterranean cruise and when we got home, forgot to buy the travel insurance within the 14 days of booking.
doing this allows for a waiver of any pre-existing medical conditions.
well. now that were looking into it. We can get insurance , but none will cover anything pre-existing.
well, my DFIL is one big pre existing condition.
and im concerned that if anything happens on the trip, nothing will be covered.
any suggestions?
is there a policy i can pay extra for that will cover him?

maybe we'll just ditch em.:scared1:

Alex

Our TA just purchased our travel insurance today. As long as you haven't made your final payment there are policies out there. I'll try to find out the name in the morning (I haven't received the e-mail confirmation from TA yet bu should know the company name tomorrow).

We too have pre-existing conditions so TA always makes sure they will be covered.
