Not sure how to answer. 2? Maybe none? Sorry if I offended anyone with my story. I thought I'd share it as it is - which is a bit sad, a bit funny, and maybe just a little bit weird.
Lisa

It's not offensive at all (to me anyways) kids want what they want for a reason and I think it's lovely that you got the ashes for them. Your children just weren't ready to say "goodbye" nothing wrong with that!

Not sure how to answer. 2? Maybe none? See we have one pet that lives with another family and another pet that is not living but is in our house.

THE STORY:
When we moved, our neighbor adopted our indoor/outdoor cat because our new home has wicked racoons. We visit often - we miss him a lot. Had him before the kids. He is a Ragdoll, 14 years old. The move would have killed him so we did what was best but it was sad.:sad2: So that is the pet that doesn't live with us.

Our pet that is not living but is in our house: When we move, we did bring our other Ragdoll cat as she was indoor cat- beautiful white mitted Kimba. She died quite suddenly from a stroke in December. It was really hard - we did all the tests - C-SCAN, MRI, started IV medication. Nothing worked. Very sad. :sad1:

The kids wanted her ashes but life had been so hectic (we had the cruise in January, work crazy, etc) we couldn't get around to picking them/her up. It was so sad and somewhat humerous - every night the kids would pray that Kimba was safe and that her ashes would be home soon. And I would be like OOPS. So at night I would keep telling myself tomorrow I will for sure go back to the pet hospital and pick her up. The morning would come, dropping the kids off at school, going to work, this thing and that thing. Next thing I know it is night time again and the same gosh darn prayer. OOPS again. Felt like such a terrible mom. So anyway, we FINALLY picked her up on Thursday 2 months later and now she has a spot upstairs right in the hallway in a nook right outside the boys' rooms. The kids just love having her - it is somewhat weird. Jack wants to take her to show and tell and I think the proper answer is no.

Sorry if I offended anyone with my story. I thought I'd share it as it is - which is a bit sad, a bit funny, and maybe just a little bit weird.

Lisa,

Funny, sad and weird, but very heartening to hear how GOOD a mom you are to do that for your kids!!

I just love our cat too and hope she lives a really long time. She is an indoor cat as well. She of course, loves DH best and DD is like her child!! I just take care of her and love her the most!!

Karen

I absolutely LOVE the phrases you use!

Karen,

How are you going to face them on the way back East? Will they throw you off the ship as a double-agent?

We are 1/2 and 1/2 Lisa, we have about as many Canons as HP's . . . Every time we buy a computer we get a free printer, I still have some in the Box! Four printers out of the box - 2 Canons and 2HP's.

Our office is COMPLETELY HP - Printers, Computers, and SERVERS.

DrHug has the Canon i9900 and it prints amazing enlargements! The rest of ours are HP, we are like John...get one with each new computer.

WE will take good care of her! You all return her safely! ;)

Heheheh...she may need a dry dock after we disembark! After all the Buffet Kareoke and Dumbotron sceneit...not to mention the swarm of people playin' bunco like they own the darn ship...yeah, we're gonna' leave an impression, for sure! So, are we doing the huge group photo by the Steamboat Willie? Who's gonna' get Captain Tom and Mickey to come join us? Who do we know in a suite (CAT 1)? :confused3 :rolleyes1

Love, love, LOVE that your Jack wants to bring her for show and tell. (Understand the answer, no, though....)

I think your answer to John1's pet question should be a firm TWO:)!

Carolyn

Well, here I am again, perfect timing and all by myself . . .

I went over to the other side to try and find where they were making fun of us, but I could not find it. I was going to go over and tease them a bit. PJ, you and I both have 11 posts over there - someone daily updates how many posts everyone has.

Maybe we should all pick a day and time and ALL go over there and post like we are posting on our own thread. We can tell them we are just being neighborly and trying to help them out in what matters most!

Hope you guys are having a super Saturday night!

Question for today . . . How many of you have pets, and what kind?

We have a dog (Labradoodle - 1/2 lab and 1/2 poodle, chocolate colored), four tropical fish, and two hermit crabs.

We have an old, old cat. He is 15, his name is Sugar and it fits him perfectly. Sweet kitty, but unfortunately he is a dirt bag, never learned to groom himself and he is Himalayan. :sad2: His brother used to groom him, but the brother died a couple of years ago, so now he is just nasty! :rotfl: DD, who lives with us, has a dog - so we have a dog. He is a big guy, cross of German Shepard, Blue Heeler and Coyote. Smart guy. He loves to run, races the car. The fastest we clocked him is 35 mph and he was not even breaking a sweat.

Just had to post this . . . the expressions on the kid's faces just kill me. This is Sophia's BD party from last Saturday. She is the one in the black shirt with gold on it (High School Musical). The party was at a paint your own pottery store.

That's truly the funniest picture I've seen quite some time! Each kid looks like they're showing a completely different emotion, but the boy in the Braves shirt looks absolutely miserable! :rotfl2:

Ok, when I asked about iPods, I had another point to it . . . we did this on our other thread, and it was fun to see what turned up . . . If you have an iPod, put it on "shuffle" and list the first ten songs that come up on your iPod.

I'm playing, just because I've enjoyed reading others, BUT I'm not really happy with my pod selections these days. I only listen to it while I'm walking and it's really difficult to get a good pace with most of this. My latest favorite is exerpts from an old Eddie Murphy album. I AM the crazy woman walking around the track in the dark, laughing out loud....(But, then, I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I have Dem Franchise Boys on my pod...be kind, I do have an 18 yr old! Oh, and Akon, featuring Eminem...not really proud to admit that, either...But more than willing to sing along...in the dark...)

1. 300 Pounds of Heavenly Joy, Big Twist and The Mellow Fellows
2. Blues at my Baby's House, Buddy Guy
3. Mozart: Requiem-Dies Irae, Karl Richter
4. I Want You to Want Me, Cheap Trick
5. Nick of Time, Bonnie Raitt
6. Chopin: Waltz for Piano In D Flat, Tamas Vasary
7. That's How Love Moves, Faith Hill

Good idea:thumbsup2

We have a Bichon Frise puppy that has been with us exactly 5 weeks today, and between Cordelia (the puppy) and Estrella (my dd 4) I am aging before my time, I am not an animal person, but since dd won´t have any siblings, we decided that she should at least have a dog.

With a 19 year old brother, I fell for the same thing with Sophia! At least she better not have any younger siblings!

I thought that was a neat story!

That's truly the funniest picture I've seen quite some time! Each kid looks like they're showing a completely different emotion, but the boy in the Braves shirt looks absolutely miserable! :rotfl2:

That boy in the Braves shirt was a firecracker! He was the wise guy of the bunch at the party - and knew all about painting the pottery because he had done it three times as he told me!

LOVED reading everyone's pet and iPod shuffles! We are a diverse group, and I like that. I laughed at Amie on your's and Dennis' list Angie. I always smile at my Amy when that song comes on.

I'll keep trying to think up more of these little questions, it really lets you get to know interesting stuff about people.

Since Sophia is with her aunt overnight tonight we went for a late Mexican dinner and off to Borders. I got the last Steve Berry book I haven't read - The Amber Room.

Ok, Folks I am a sad Canadian, went to find some Buffet on itunes (Canada) and there is one, yes one song!

I love his music, but have not added any because i was hoping itunes would have some I could buy by the song, no luck!

Maybe when they add movies and shows they will add on to the library of music as well.

Who do we know in a suite (CAT 1)? :confused3 :rolleyes1

I've been dying to know about Cat. 1 - I am wondering if it is some DCL high exec or maybe one of the performers if they got someone really big?? Wouldn't that be fun! "Josh Groban now playing in the Walt Disney Theater" :cool1::yay: :woohoo:

Question for today . . . How many of you have pets, and what kind?

We have one dog and three cats. Goldie is half Golden and half Sharpei (The real wrinkley dogs.) She is so cute...She looks just like a lion. We rescued her. All week we have been dealing with Goldie. She had 3 tumors growing very quickly on her neck. The vet tested them a while ago and said non-cancerous...take them out when you are ready. Well they kept growing se we decided to have them removed. She was in the hospital for 4 days this week :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: I missed her like crazy!! The vet said the one tumor was the largest she has ever removed in 20 years. It weighed 2 pounds.
She has 50 stiches. When the vet got in to look the tumor had overtaken the neck muscles. She had remove a lot of her muscle. She is home now, but still bleeding a lot (vet says this is good). She is wearing this blue "sweater" and I have to put all the dressing inside the sweater to capture the blood. She gets 10 pills a day. I can't wait for her to be all better.

The cats are nomal rescues.....2 from a while ago and 1 moved in last Thanksgiving.....I guess she is ours now.

last scheduled day is May 15th!!!:cool1:
This means our girls will only miss the last (4) days of school!:thumbsup2

I just went and looked at Fairfax County 2007-2008 calandar...our last day of school is June 17th!!

I think this is an awesome story. I think you must be a wonderful mom!! Not many mom's would do this.....

You may not let your kids take the ashes to school....but maybe you could lend them to the families whose school districts will not let their kids out of school for these two weeks......:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: That would teach them!!

OK....to give John1 a break from coming up with a new topic, what was everybody's first job and at what age?

Me: Age 14 (1984) -- worked in the cafeteria of a tiny college serving meals to the students. It was called Nazereth College, was primarily a nursing school, and was only a mile down the road from my mom's house so I walked. It had one main building for classrooms and the cafeteria, and one dorm wing attached. Another part of my job was to serve at banquets they also held there on weekends, then clean up afterwards and do dishes.

Yeah, really exciting....I know. Just another topic starter! :thumbsup2

Can you add this stuff while you are here in the States from someone's laptop? :cool2:

Oh, my. I think i would spend all day every day in the WDT just to seek him.
