Hi all,

I haven't posted here in a while, but I started a thread on the Ship of Thieves board on Lose before you cruise. I guess I have been pouring my heart out over there with my struggles with starting WW this week.

I am sorry for your friend Lisa, I am rooting for her to beat her disease. But stories like that remind me why I am even spending the money to go on a cruise like this one anyway. Any of us could get a diagnosis like that at any time. I think we should enjoy our time with our kids as much as possible and make memories to last a lifetime.

I have to get out of here and go pick up my DS and his friends from the movies. Check in with you guys later.

Tammy

Everyone in the snow needs to come down to Florida. This weekend has been beautiful.

Holly - I can't believe you drove to Sesame Street Live in the ice - you're a very dedicated mom!

I was born in Maine and lived there until I graduated from college, I don't know how I ever did it! If I go to Maine in the winter now my mom won't let me drive. She says I don't know how to drive in the winter. I always think it's funny that she let me drive in the winter when I was 16, but not now.

Stay warm everyone, and if you can't stay warm where you are fly down to FL!!!

How on earth do any of you get DH to join in the Oscar excitement? Getting them to dress up and watch?! :confused3 Mine whines "Oh No. Not another #&*#( award show. UGH. See you later, I am going on line!"
So, what is the trick?
:rotfl: My thoughts are the same as your husbands! :lmao: I'm just ticked off that Desperate Housewives wasn't on. Didn't know why until I saw a bunch of celebs and figured out it was the Oscars. So I switched over to Miami Ink!

Acutally is pretty good this year, just listening to James Taylor sing....

:happytv:

Med School is so LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG. Heather graduated from High School in 3 years and went to Duke, where with her AP classes and summer graduated in three years. She was 19 when she graduated from Duke!! (She also skipped 1st grade!!). Georgetown, however, was a full 4 years of non stop testing....It seems like she was always studing for one Medical Board or another. I cried last year at her graduation. It was so cool seeing the entire class take the Hypocratic Oath together.....I was thinking this really is the future!! She was the youngest in her class...23 when she graduated in May 06 and turned 24 in November. She is doing 1 year at Fairfax Hospital (large DC area Medical Center.....known for delivering the 2nd most babies each year in the US...after some hospital in Texas) and then off for 3 years at NYU Hospital School of Eyes and Ears (I think that is what it called) ... she will be 27 when she is ready to go get a "real" job.

WOW! You must be so proud of Heather! What amazing accomplishments! :yay:

I feel the same way! I'd much rather watch Desperate Housewives than the Oscars.

I guess this is another one of those series that I have never seen...wrong age group I guess. Melissa Eldridge is now singing the theme song from An Inconvenient Truth....

:happytv:

Did you enter this? It sounds too good to be true....I never enter these kinds of things....but they are going to use it for marketing for DCL and Disney Destinations....I already get all that stuff now.......

What do you guys think??

I entered, but I gotta say that after nearly 40 years of marriage we have found that we are lucky in love, but are not lucky with gambling or winning prizes. We do, however, continue to enter these things, just in case. ;) :lmao:

The snow is really bad here, blowing sideways. It was very nice out this afternoon, and now it looks like the inside of a snow-globe in the hands of a two year old.

I don't know how this one missed us, but we had a pretty uneventful weather day. No snow. Some rain. Ice in the morning, but otherwise no big deal. It was pretty warm too . . . 40 degrees!

Holy cow! When I travel I wear sneakers, which I use during the trip for walking all over on excursions, and and I pack sandals that are comfy enough to wear anywhere yet still look nice with anything I'd wear to dinner. I love traveling light and simple!

Yep that's me. Pair of sneakers, pair of daytime sandals and a pair of black dress sandals for dinner.

It's a great show! Very funny. It's the first series in years that I've gotten hooked on. I try not to watch too much tv, but I love Desperate Housewives. The 1st 2 seasons are out on dvd. It's on Sundays on abc at 9pm eastern time.

You are still young!! I need everything I can slap on to keep face youthful and moisturized!!

 Well, people say I don't look my age (36 1/2), but I think I do. Especially since my grey hairs started multiplying big time when I hit 34! :scared1:

Cool! Alex will be 19 when he gets his undergraduate degree too. He turns 20 in June (here's an interesting story for you, Alex's birthday is June 15, same as mine, he was born on my birthday, my dad is a twin, and was born on June 24th, and my brother was born on HIS birthday, so both my dad and I had son's born on our birthdays in June). Alex also had lots of AP classes and credit. I must say though that Duke and Georgetown are a bit more impressive. We were talking tonight, and he said no way would he have gone to Youngstown State (YSU) if not for this program. He says lots of people call YSU "You Screwed Up". Regardless, the science programs are good, and a physics professor brings in millions of dollars in grants. We both agreed, when you are on the operating table, no one will ask you what school you went to.

So Alex should also be 23 when done with Med School. I have kept waiting for him to hit the wall in college, but hasn't happened yet. I'm sure Med school will be much more of a challenge.

Hats off to Alex for all his hard work! Great kid! :thumbsup2

Who needs makeup with one of those adjustable shirts! :lmao:

OK, back to dress discussion . . .

Oh, I'm not brave enough to wear anything like that! That was Cindy's shirt! She's a laugh a minute! :goodvibes

Despite the fact I vowed never to get hooked on a show again, I failed 2 years ago.....I feel proud there are only three:happytv: ! Desperate Housewives, Gray's Anatomy and LOST. Luckily abc shows all the episodes on line so I don't have to be in front of the tv at any certain time. When these three end, I vow to never get hooked on another! :rotfl2: kinda think that is impossible, but I try.

As for the Oscar's, I don't really care about who wins, but I do like watching the skits and of course commenting on all the dresses and the way everyone looks. The preshow is better to me than the actual show.

Holly - I can't believe you drove to Sesame Street Live in the ice - you're a very dedicated mom!

Well, we drove there the night before to avoid the ice and snow, so we only had a short drive from the hotel to the show. Almost $80 for our 2 tickets was enough motivation! :scared1:

I'm going to try to get over to the Lose Before You Cruise thread tomorrow after work. My goal is to join WW on March 1. So I'll be struggling right along with you!

Sorry for your lousy weather, but I had to laugh at your description! I'll have to remember that one!
