Please post your friend's name and I will pray for her by name....

Thanks - her name is Michelle. And thanks for sharing about your DBIL. That helped - along with Kaylee's reminder that NHL has high success rates. I'm anxious to visit with her tomorrow. I'm trying to think of things to bring to her - she will need to stay in the hospital until they can shrink the tumor so it might be a little while. I'm not sure how quickly that can happen. I'm hoping they can use wireless internet b/c then I will get her set up with our slingback and watch Tivo!

Again, glad to hear I'm not the only one! Traveling light is awesome! :thumbsup2

But shoes ARE light...really....it is my DH's socks that weight down my suitcase ;) . My shoes are light as a feather. :rolleyes1 And I just bring sandels as well. I have my pump sandels, dress sandels, sandel sandels, pool sandels, and funky Stella McCartney sandels. I could no way no how go on a cruise without my sandels. :rotfl:

Bought 3 new pairs of watershoes. They are really cool. $29 each. Made by Speedo. They are a water shoe (like a sneaker so they don't come off). They came in lime green and baby blue (I got me lime green, Jamie blue) and Robert got a darker blue. They are really kewl. Will definitely bring on the PC cruise!

5 pairs of Sandels and watershoes. That is all I will need to pack :) Well maybe just one pair of black stilettos. Oh yes, and my beige Manolos. I better tell my DH to just buy socks on the ship to leave room for me. And now Holly is going :sad2: ! and :confused3 . It truly is an addiction for some...of course not me, I have no problem. :rotfl: Can we say d-e-n-i-a-l??

Sorry to bring up a sad subject, but my good friend just got diagnosised with non-hodgkins lymphoma on Friday. I found out yesterday, and just got off the phone with her sister. She is undergoing some more tests today - bone marrow, scans, etc. She went to the doctor on Friday because she had some swelling in her face - she thought it was allergies. She is 37, a high school teacher, and has a 3 year old DD. I was in her wedding - I set up her and her husband. There were friends forever, but I saw this spark and became a match maker one St. Patrick evening in SF. Anyway, the doctor on Friday sent her straight to the hospital after her blood results came back. She has already had a treatment of chemo. The tumor is blocking (80%) the artery to her heart and has caused tremendous swelling. She doesn't want visitors today - asked that I come tomorrow. I imagine she is somewhat in shock - it has all happened so fast.

Agg. Life just turns sometimes. I have been saying prayers for all those that have mentioned things on the board, can't believe I'm sending the request now.
Thanks for listening.
Lisa

Our thoughts, prayers and hope are with you and your friend. I have had several friends in the last few years go through cancer and chemo. All different types of cance, but they have survived and my hope is that your friend will to.

Life is too short, appreciate your family and friends and enjoy all of the Disney that you can!

I guess this is another one of those series that I have never seen...wrong age group I guess. Melissa Eldridge is now singing the theme song from An Inconvenient Truth....

:happytv:

She was great! So awesome that she won!

Our appetizers were Sesame crusted Ahi tuna seared rare, pate and brie en croute and several other wonderful items!! A lovely evening, I must say...

Morning all. Morning Karen! Lovely day here - blue sky and sun, but cold I think. Just made it through the pages of posts.

Absolutely!! DH and I are dressed, dinner ready and champagne on ice!! Ready to trash and oooh and ahhh the dresses....
You have an amazing hubby - I wouldn't even get John to wear a tux for a 'proper' occasion!!!:rotfl:

How on earth do any of you get DH to join in the Oscar excitement? Getting them to dress up and watch?! :confused3 Mine whines "Oh No. Not another #&*#( award show. UGH. See you later, I am going on line!"
So, what is the trick?

See reply above and let's just say it is a good job the Oscars is on overnight here so John is already in bed!!!

::yes:: I entered....and what a delima if I win! Whoever do I take with me???

Me please, I can't enter!!:sad2:

You are still young!! I need everything I can slap on to keep face youthful and moisturized!!

You should see my toilet bag! Nearly every lotion and potion and then some more in case my face reacts to something which usually happens after a long flight. On the cruise just look for someone with dry red cheeks!!!

Happy Monday everyone:wave:

All that talk of the Oscars made me really jealous, it's on much too late ehre for me to watch, so I'll have to find a 'highlight' show today I think. Although I shall check out the link someone gave to check out all the dresses!:)

That's so sad, there seems to be such sadness around just now. I shall be thinking of Michelle, and praying for her...and for you too, and her family.

UK Angel: So sorry to hear of your sad day, and I also have a tear in my eye and a prayer in the sky for help and strength for all involved in Jo's loss. Her service sounded beautiful.

Thank you, and to everyone for their messages of support.

Nordstom's does have great shoes, but I buy shoes so much I try to stick to the discount stores like DSW. I also go the the Nine West outlets a lot because they always have buy 1 get 1 50% off. That way you have to buy 2pairs.

Gotta love that reasoning!!!!;):rotfl:
(mental note: go to Nordstrom on our next trip!)

this sounds like such fun, wish we could have done that too!

:rotfl2: another addict here Lisa.........do you think 7 pairs of flip flops (all different colours of course) is over the top?

Here's my stupid question for the day. Is there a reason why there are so many pockets on the Fish Extender? Is there supposed to be one pocket for everyone in the cabin?

I was going to make my own but didn't want to appear greedy by having too many pockets on my Fish Extender!

----
Terri

Terri,

There is no special reason for the 5 pockets on the Fish Extender. The original Extenders that we copied had 5 pockets so when we made ours we put the 5 pockets on. On our SC cruise not all Fish extenders were created equal, some were made like Mickey with only 2 pockets and others with any number of pockets (1, 2, 3 or 4). So feel free to express yourself and be as creative as you like.:goodvibes

Is there such a thing as over the top when you are discussing shoes?! I am with Lisa...all I bring are sandals;) , just the black one, the flats, the heels, the cute strappy ones for dress up, the ones for the pool, etc! :rotfl2:

It's very quiet on here so far today!....feel like I'm talking to myself....:rolleyes1

I aquired my shoe addiction very early in life. In the early 1950's, My aunt used to take me with her to Robinson's in Pasadena and buy as many as 5 pairs of Spring-o-lators.

Oh, I love them! Do you have any in a size 10?

I think my shoe addiction is a deep-seated psychological affliction. When I was a kid we were only allowed to get one pair of school shoes (and one pair of snow boots). The shoes had to be neutral so they went with everything. My husband still does the same thing. He buys one pair of very nice shoes for work in a neutral color and wears them until they need to be replaced. So he doesn't understand why I need shoes in every color and style. Especially now that I work from home and I'm barefoot most of the day!

Thanks for the info. I'm going to go dust off the sewing machine I bought right after I graduated from college (which was shortly after electricity was invented!) and go nuts!

Unfortunately, I wear a size 6 or 7 depending on the shoes. :goodvibes

There is a whole website devoted to the Spring-o-lators where I borrowed the picture to post here on the DIS. Aren't they the cutest shoes? Don't they remind you of the Barbie shoes?

Way cute....and can I say, I totally miss Robinson's! I really don't care much for Macy's. :sad2:

I would love it if more people put photos up on the websites. It is great seeing what you all look like. It will be even better seeing you in the flesh though!:)

By the way, when I visit the Eastbound cruise thread(sorry!), it seems quite a few have been visited by the Tag fairy. Do you think she is going on that cruise?
