Anyone play Rook?

Oh and I will once again bring our Uno Splash cards - they are waterproof, the tray floats so you can play IN the hot tub or pool - we love them.

How has this turned out? I have been told flat-out by my travel agent that I'm out of luck, but it seems like I've seen at least one person post (not on this thread) that their travel agent was able to get the reservations "merged".

If it would be better to answer with a PM, please do.

Thanks!

I think the same thing happened to me when I got screwed out of my cat 9. TA had specifically asked if she could book rooms and add the names later. was told yes, did that, then DCL came back and said that no, can't change those names, we have to rebook at todays prices. nope sorry, I'll stick to a cave, thanks though.

This is a great idea for another list. Laura, we should keep a spread sheet of people who want to have dining partners, don't want dining partners etc. What do you think?

We could help people hook up with couples, singles or families with others of same interests.

I have the most fun game for kids to play if we're thinking of a game night! it's fun for adults too. It's called the scrambled states of america.

this game is so much fun we had the cops called on us while we were playing it :lmao: it involves slapping the table and yelling, downstairs neighbors thought someone was getting slapped around!!:scared1: nope, just 3 growns up playing a game for 8 year olds....

So tonight I've learned what SkipBo and Bunco are, but now another one is added! :scared1: What in the world is Phase 10? I'll never keep these all straight! :rotfl:

I think it's by the makers of UNO too. Each hand you have to get something specific (i.e. 2 sets of three, run of 7) the game ends when someone gets all 10 "phases: in order.

I think nearly everyone has been burned on this one, but I also have heard of a couple of travel agents who were successful in accomlishing this for their clients. I don't know how or why, it may have something to do with this size of the company or the way rooms were held/booked in groups, or the superviser they got through to. :confused3 DCL just really bungled the handling of this one! And we THOUGHT they had been getting better with each repositioning 'go-round'. :worried:

Indeed....I am having to learn all sorts of new things that never crossed my mind in my renting days. I just look at it as an adventure. :goodvibes

well it is always good to keep a postitive outlook on things...and just think you get to teach your new skill set to all of us too!!:rotfl:

Never heard of it, but want to learn all the games everybody has mentioned! Yeah, I'm pathetic....Uno is the only card game I know! I love the idea of Uno Splash! How cool to be able to play it in the pool!

Count me in if you get a group of adults to play. :thumbsup2

Sounds fun! I wanna play!

Oh my, Linda! You never told me that story! Yikes. Poor Mom. :sad2:

We were doing our family reunion in 2005 at WDW and a 4 night on DCL . I had booked my Aunt in First Class from Santa Barbara to Orlando, connecting through LAX and Atlanta. She got to LAX, only to find out that they had canceled the rest of her tickets - because she "had not shown for her first leg."

Obviously she had, since she was at LAX, but the gate agents refused to deal with it.

Problem ended up being that Delta had changed her flights 13 different times since I had originally booked it! Apparently, when one of the rebookings happened, they had temporarily assigned a flight for the prior day and someone hadn't cleared that leg off the record locator. And it never showed in any of Delta's online tools. :furious: I spent an hour on the phone with a Supervisor, trying to get it fixed, since if she missed those flights, she wasn't making the cruise. They finally got it straigtened out, but at one point told her that she was going to have to fly coach, after I had already paid for first. One agent actually tried to tell her that the difference in fare (between coach and first) wouldn't be refunded, since we obviously screwed something up.

So glad we fired Delta years ago when they were the first to take away the compensation to travel agents (my DSis is a travel agent.)

We also have fired United for several infractions... too numerous to mention.

We moslty fly on Southwest on the west coast and American elsewhere.

We were delayed coming home from Orlando in December by American, but they did everything that they could to get a hold of us, however we did have to stay an additional day at the Beach Club (oh darn!) It was still a bummer to get home late on the 24th of December and not get our luggage until after midnight on Christmas. We will probably never plan air trips that close to Christmas again. At least we weren't like all of those people that were stranded in Denver at around the same time.

This sounds kind of like a game I've played called "Shanghai" or Shanghai Rummy. We played it with regular playing cards, but multiple decks (2 or 3, depending on how many were playing). First hand was a set, 2nd hand a run, 3rd hand 2 sets, etc. Final hand was 3 runs. It took forever to play all the way through, but it was fun.

The reason I know this is because my cat 3 reservation in December could only be transferred to a new reservation and because it was non refundable, I had to transfer the funds. That is why I decided to go with the TA because I could not do the ressie online.

I guess she should of told me before makeing the move, or least confirm with me.
Thank you for your help.

Here is a typical United story. My DH had a company paid sabbatical trip for the three of us to Hawaii booked for over the Memorial Day weekend back in 1986. My DD was only 6 months old at the time. I called at 6:00 AM and confirmed the flights. We arrived at the airport to check in and were told the flight was cancelled. Of course, I asked why didn't you tell me when I called. The answer was that United called the TA on a Saturday morning during Memorial weekend, not us.

I was hoping mad. I finally got a supervisor to rebook us on the next flight at 1:00 PM. They wanted to charge us but I was able to convince them that we were all three FULL FARE paying FIRST CLASS passengers and eventually got them not to charge us.

Of course, on the way home, we go to check in. No reservations because we didn't make the first cancelled flight. After another supervisor and a lot of discussion we were finally put on a flight leaving 6 hours after our scheduled flight.

Needless to say, I am very, very careful when I fly United. I try not to fly them but sometimes it is unavaoidable.
