for lwilliams: good for you taking the trip with just DH! DH and I were supposed to do the Eastbound repo this spring to the Med, but his work schedule had a conflict. Instead, we are doing a 3/4 Land & Sea next month. Yes, our DD's are appalled that 1 - we would even want to take a vacation without them and 2 - we have the audacity to go to WDW without them .

My son will feel exactly the same way as your daughters do! I haven't told him yet because he's so addicted to Disney cruises and will be crushed that I'd go without him. BUT I'm taking him on one a few months before this one, so hopefully that will satifsy him.

Me too! What a bummer! But my bust is probably because when added to everything else I have (my other tiny pic and 2 tickers) that put me over the top. I'll try to play around with it later.

I got busted a week ago too. Too many lines in my signature. Who knew?.....anyway I fixed it so I wouldn't be banned for life!

Have any of you DOD fans ever participated in the adult games at the Quiet Cove pool? I played one day and we got a pretty big bucket of the DOD and 4 straws and we had a drinking contest against 4 guys. The girls won, of course. It's really fun and a great way to get a free drink! The only problem I had was trying to dive in to find the buried treasure at the bottom of the pool after drinking so fast.

You are so right about flying in a day early. Even when it's not winter flights can be delayed or cancelled. I live in FL, but when my mom & sister flew down in Dec for our cruise they came down 2 days early. My mom was going to spend the extra hundred and get a hotel near the airport, but instead we just booked an extra night at a WDW value resort!

Okay, so on the October 2006 DVC Members Cruise, I invited my sister and my mom a month before. My sister lives in Roseville, California and my mom lives in Boise, Idaho. I had everything down to a science. My mom and sister were leaving their respective homes and flying out of Sacramento and Boise and both landing in Salt Lake City within about 45 minutes of each other. Then I would join them in Salt Lake City and we would all leave on the 5:30 p.m. flight to arrive in Orlando at 11:30 p.m.

Well, the best laid out plans don't always work. After all my hard work too.

My sister left as scheduled out of Sacramento. I had just left work to head home to get my stuff finished and my mother called on my cell phone as I am driving down the road. She and my father got a voice mail on her cell phone as they were headed to the airport with a pre-recording saying her flight from Boise to Salt Lake City was cancelled and she was re-scheduled to leave the next morning and would arrive in Orlando at 4:00 p.m. (TOO LATE) My mom was in a quandry, I'm in Salt Lake, my sister is in the air. NO PERSON called her from Delta, it was just a recording. So I told my mom "keep driving to the airport" I know there are later flights out. I get on the phone and call Delta to find out what the flip is going on. They didn't have a flight crew so they cancelled it. And since the later flight wouldn't make her connection, they just changed it to the next day.

To make a long story short, after spending an hour on the phone between the Delta rep on the phone, the Delta Red Coat at the Boise Airport and working on the internet, I found a flight from Boise to Sacramento and then from Sacramento to Las Vegas and Las Vegas to Orlando and my mom arrived at 8:00 a.m. that next morning.

I was pretty stressed out over the whole situation.

Then, when I met up with my sister in Salt Lake (who knew nothing about what had happened), I went to get on the plane in Salt Lake and my seat assignment was non-existent. I was in first class row 6c and there were only 4 rows on the plane. Guess they changed planes at the last minute and didn't get me moved into my new seat.

I was very happy once my mom arrived in Orlando the next morning and we were all together, except mom (72 years old) was pretty tired from flying all night long.

And it never showed in any of Delta's online tools. I spent an hour on the phone with a Supervisor, trying to get it fixed, since if she missed those flights, she wasn't making the cruise. They finally got it straigtened out, but at one point told her that she was going to have to fly coach, after I had already paid for first. One agent actually tried to tell her that the difference in fare (between coach and first) wouldn't be refunded, since we obviously screwed something up.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I think it is best to go, that is why I booked this cruise in the first place. But, I don't want to end up having to go to court or get in any trouble. I read the county and city education board websites and the language is pretty harsh. But, I understand the need for it.

I don't know how things work in Tenessee, but you should contact your Superintendent, and if needed, your school board. The rules you are probably reading are put in place for those parents who just don't care, and don't send their kids to school - not a parent who is taking their kids on an educational opportunity of a lifetime.

As a school board member, I will be curious to see how this turns out for you.

Well . . . on our DD cruise I had about 200 custom imprinted foam bananas to give away to all our DIS friends, and I really did not want to carry those through TSA, or try to pack them in my luggage

We were doing our family reunion in 2005 at WDW and a 4 night on DCL . I had booked my Aunt in First Class from Santa Barbara to Orlando, connecting through LAX and Atlanta. She got to LAX, only to find out that they had canceled the rest of her tickets - because she "had not shown for her first leg."

Problem ended up being that Delta had changed her flights 13 different times since I had originally booked it! Apparently, when one of the rebookings happened, they had temporarily assigned a flight for the prior day and someone hadn't cleared that leg off the record locator. And it never showed in any of Delta's online tools. I spent an hour on the phone with a Supervisor, trying to get it fixed, since if she missed those flights, she wasn't making the cruise. They finally got it straigtened out, but at one point told her that she was going to have to fly coach, after I had already paid for first. One agent actually tried to tell her that the difference in fare (between coach and first) wouldn't be refunded, since we obviously screwed something up.

For our trip last Dec 1, I booked thru Expedia on Oct 1. Expedia never ticketed the flights. We arrived at PDX 2 hour prior to flight (luckily!) and could not check in. The American agent found that even though I had the stuff from Expedia it was not ticketed until that very morning and there were no seats left on the return flights for us so none of our flights had been ticketed. The agent did get us on the outbound and said Expedia would work on our return flights and find something around the same time. We were doing WDW prior to cruise, so I gave them 2 days and then called. They did get us on a return flight that turned out to be even better for us, got us home a couple of hours earier. BUT lesson learned..even with confirmation nothing is guaranteed until you are on the ground at your destination. Note, we have used Expedia many times and never had a problem, I have no idea why they waited 2 months to ticket the trip.

WOW! Had about 12 pages to read to get caught up. Too busy at work yesterday to be here much. Then speed dating event after work. This is the 3rd one I've been too and have had lots of fun each time, but this was the best one ever! Despite being a total flop because almost nobody showed up (it wasn't really advertised, so there were only 5 women and 3 men), it turned out great because we all decided to just hang out as a group afterwards! And one guy in particular was chatting with only me all evening, so keep your fingers crossed that I hear from him soon!

He informed me, "Well, one time at the kids club, the teachers took us somewhere and when we walked down the hall, they told us we had to be really quiet because we were walking past Captain Hook's room and he's grouchy if he gets woken up!" Funny that he's never told me that before, but 5 months later it just pops up!

WOOHOO! I hope they do that again! Sounds like the Quiet Cove pool wasn't very quiet that day! I never even knew they did that because I couldn't keep Tyler in the club long enough to see what the adult activities are like. If they have something like that on this cruise, I'll be there!
