Lots to catch up on this morning. I'm another one who doesn't drink coffee. Only tea. Favourite is Earl Grey which thankfully DCL does carry.

(snip), but, nice work Fiona's husband!! I really like the format of the DISboard-like software he chose. (My DH has been offering to do the same, but he keeps leaving town for work on the weekends!)

Thanks. :)

The software is not all that hard to set up, and I've done it a number of times. The really great part about it is that if you follow the installation instructions, it's ready to use in 10 minutes. The software is a bit quirky, but it functions much similar to the software that runs the Disboards, in terms of concepts and ideas.

As I said, I like it because it's easy to install. I also like it because it keeps track of the last time that you read a thread or a conversation and it uses visual clues to point this out to you, and it does it based on the last time you accessed the software. I've seen the software being used on databases with millions of postings and you wouldn't know it. I've seen my server tell me that it's handling over a hundred transactions per second and it doesn't even blink an eye at handling the load that the board software requires.

I guess the best part of it is that it's free. I had it for a number of months before looking at it because it *was* free (free used to equal "not good" in my experience)... sort of regret it now. It's not like vBulletin, but very, very close.

I set everything up under the domain www.shipofthieves.com so it's fairly easy to remember.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to message me.

Jim.

Hello,:)

My DH and I will be sailing with all you wonderful folks.

This will be our second DCL Cruise. We sailed back in 05 to mexico.

We have a cat 11 with main seating.
I spent a little time chatting before our mexican crusie on DIS but once on the ship with all the newness for us we never got together with our fellow DISers. Hoping to change that this go round.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

OK, that is the coolest thing added in the upgrade. Really bad for post count, but much easier on us.

Ok, as you read through the posts, click on the quote+ on posts you want to respond to, when you get to the last post you want to respond to, click on the normal quote button, all the posts you clicked on will be in the reply box and you can read and respond all in one post.
Very cool!!

Wow lots to catch up on! We just bought our 1st house so the next month and a half is going to be very busy (we close on march 23).
Congrats!! Your first house is such an exciting move :cloud9: .
Phase 10, yeah! Sea day two covered! An aside, I found Lime green Bicycle brand playing cards yesterday:thumbsup2 .

Pj
Kewl!! I'll have to look for those (would make a fun fish mail item ...)

Sorry, went a bit crazy with the multi quote feature:rolleyes1

Hi Venetia. I think there are quite a few in this group from over your neck of the woods as we say!! Which cruise did you go on in '05?

This is our first ever cruise and I am so excited, but my hubby doesn't do excited so it is great to be able to come here and share with these lovely people!

so those of you with laptops....how long does the computer battery last? i see everyone talking about using them on the plane but i was wondering how long you could watch movies??? :happytv:

Each notebook computer is different. Check your manual for battery life. I always carry a spare. Also, some airlines have plugs that you can plug into. All you need is a special adapter. First, check the airline you are flying on to see if they have the adapters. If they do, you can purchase one to use. Often times these adapters also work in the car. You remove a portion of the adapter to use on the airplane.

Adapters can either be purchased where you purchased your notebook computer or at the following:

If they do, a good place to buy spare computer batteries is:

This is a fun group. Just make sure you check page 1 for anything important.

Thank you for the welcome granmaz.

We did the 7 day Mexican Riviera that sailed June 18-25.

My DH does excitement. Sort of. He may be asking for his own sign on for DIS soon.

Now I just have to do a lot of catch up reading to find out all the great things planned.

I thought I recognized your screen name. That was our first Disney Cruise too. It was a small but nice DIS group. We ended up bumping into people throughout the week at various activities.

Thanks for the warm welcome. you are just over the hill from us. Even though my profile says Santa Barbara, we are actually in Oxnard. I was born/raised in SB and told DH when we moved that I still got to say I'm from SB;)

Venetia

Are you guys flying out the day of the cruise. That has been my big decision. Take one more day off or fly out on red-eye.

we plan on flying out on the red-eye on a direct flight and arriving the morning of. The flights that I have looked into which are delta or united arrive in orlando between 5:30-6:00 a.m.ish.

But, isn't Linux free?? My DH seems to think, Free is Good!:)

Marilyn...my hubby doesn't do excited, either!!:) He's asked several times, "What do you want? Me to jump up and down and scream like a girl?" Well, sure! That would be fun!:) No, really, that would be really unsettling...

We still have spaces available on the Private Palo Brunch and Dinner lists that
Kim, Virgina and I are trying to organize.

I have sent my list in already for the first 14. There is still room on the list for other brunch dates and dinner being organized by Kim and Virginia.

The way it works is we must send a fax to DCL with the first and last names of the guests and their stateroom numbers. DCL wants to be sure we are reserving for guests that are "booked". Each family will receive they own bill and can tip accordingly.

Anyone else who has not previously pm'd me, please send me a pm with your details.

Noel

Noel,
I just PM'd you with my information. Hope I'm not to late in adding us. Just now found the post while doing some catch up reading.

Thanks

Venetia:

Got your pm and you are on the list. Anybody else that still wants to be on the Private Palo Brunch or Dinner list, please pm and let me know.
