It's yellow and black. Just like this one (and yes, there is something strangely orthopedic about the car)

I also think that considering I am a "gentleman of a certain age" that I am not instead trying to buy a Corvette.

ok, that is cute, BUY IT!

Ian, how ironic is it that my neighbor has one exactly like yours hiding in his garage, sideways? I happened to see it the other day just as he was closing his garage door. I thought it was one of those battery powered cars that the little kids drive around in as I only had a glimpse. But then yesterday his door was open and I could tell it was a smart car. Just like the picture above. I bet he is waiting for the weather to break as he normally drives a pick-up truck.

Maybe the smart car is the new Corvette!! I think they are really cute! (But they scare me 'cuz they are so small.)

Cars

A bit of a turn up for the books today.

When I got home last night there was a voice mail from the Smart dealer. They had an orphan available for me.

I had just been in this past Saturday and put myself on the secondary waiting list. I do have a normal reservation, but was facing a 1 year wait for a car. The dealer secondary list is for "orphans" cars ordered, but the person changes their mind.

I phoned today. They had a car come in yesterday, and the person who ordered it decided that they did not want i, they wanted a convertible instead.

Amazing thing is that it is the color I reserved and the options I reserved (not that a Smart Car has many options). It did have the upgraded sound system which I did not want and does not have the security package that I did want.

So, I pick it up my orphan this coming Saturday.

I'm feeling a bit stressed out because I was really preparing to be waiting either a few months or so for an orphan, or a year for the car I reserved.

Still not quite sure if I'm excited or in shock.

.

I drove Adrienne and Tony's while I was in California. I was quite impressed with the amount of room inside and felt comfortable. I even felt like I was sitting higher than in a lot of the sedan cars.

It was a little weird when the car shifted on it's own and the brake pedal feels differently. I really like the car overall. Now to justify it in Utah!

Wanted to share one last story.

Since I was six years old, I have had horrible eyesight. Both of my sisters have had Lasik procedures and I had looked forward for about five years to have the procedure done myself. Received really disheartening news when I was told by the surgeon that my eyesight was so bad, that I wasn't a candidate. Was extremely depressed, but went to see the Phoenix Suns Opthalmologist for a second opinion. He was amazing. Over the last three weeks I have had intraocular lenses implanted in my eyes. The results are truly a blessing. In both eyes, I have gone from 20/1600 vision to 20/25 vision! I can see!! No more hard contact lenses that hurt incredibly. No more eye glasses! I can see when I wake up in the morning. My vision wasn't even this good with the contacts or glasses. In three months, I return to have Lasik for astigmatism in both eyes which is suppose to improve my vision even more. It is the most wonderful thing outside of my family that has happened for me. For that folks that have good vision, you just won't understand. Words can't describe how happy I am.

My husband is scared that I can truly see what he looks like now:rotfl2:

Do you still try to push your glasses up your nose? I did for about a month or so.

They are shockingly roomy inside. I had to pull the seat forward when I test drove it (and no, I am not the Travelocity gnome).

For my driving style and living in the city, it's a good little car. There was a lot of debate over the cargo space, but I figured, stacked, I can get 8 bags of groceries in the bag.

Plus, the passenger seat folds down flat to make more room.

Push come to shove, I figured I can alway leave Sukie by the side of the road. The walk home would be good exercise.

Well we had some great news today...

DD got into our first choice school for Kindergarten! Finally the long wait is over, I was starting to think that we'd be on the trip when I finally heard. :cutie:

Congrats! Guess that will only set you back a million or two, huh?:lmao:

Ian...congrats on the new car!

Nan & Paul....pretty good one! :) I didn't even think about AFD on that one!

Great news! :thumbsup2

I've tried the contact thing and they basically just annoy me...all that fussing and eye poking. I just realized I'm going to have to start 'practicing' with my disposable again, as I'll want to wear them on Snuba and Sea Lion days. Last time I wore them (Nov '06) it took about fifteen minutes to get them OUT of my eye...so some practicing is required.

Ooh, I hope he doesn't read that:rolleyes1

We experienced the opposite. We left the 20 degrees in SLC, snow falling, on Sunday to the warm 80 something degree weather in Phoenix. Strange plane ride!

We will say we had another remarkable adventure in Eden, UT. We absolutely love it there. So much so, we have made a deal with my brother to buy his condo at Moose Hollow!!

Also, we have never received such excellent service as we did at Snowbasin on Saturday. The staff was amazing and the resort was beautiful. We didn't wait in a single lift line and the snow was to die for. We are looking forward to many more great experiences at Snowbasin and our new condo!

That's great. Glad you had such a great time!

Anyone want to meet me here for some Rosa Regale and chocolate souffle?

I was watching a Sportsnet Pacific report and they figured the best chance the Canucks have in the first round is to play either the Wild or the Red Wings. (Of course first of all they have to actually MAKE the playoffs).

It was decided the Red Wings because the Wings have lousy goaltending and that is just what a team that doesn't score often needs. Also the wild because the two play very similar styles and the Wild won't "rough up" the Canucks who are undersized.

Tonight's game vs. the Avs will be a big test. A good showing here and the Canucks might have a chance (to at least do well in the 1st round). Lose this game and I predict they are joining the Laughs on the golf course.

Here in Ottawa it's the same thing.....they lose tonight against Les Habs.....and it is over....maybe Alfredsson can golf with Markus in Sweden

That is great news.

I don't have serious eye issues (other than the old age can't see ones getting worse every year) but DH does. He tells me everything is like a Monet without his glasses. While that is a nice was of "looking" at this problem, I completely feel bad for him and in turn have great sympathy for you and your eyesight issue.

For what it is worth - DCL is showing brunch and dinner openings in Palo

No high tea - however..

Both for 1-2 people.

I clicked on the second screen but all the times were blacked out...perhaps because I already have a reservation?????

OK, was this an April Fools too?:confused3

Just realized I am now a mouseketeer:woohoo: Hey all you veterans, does that happen at 75 posts??
