Happy Monday - this one certainly came too quickly for me. I am a horrible mom, Samantha got burned on her shoulders....I am not sure how it happened, we were all out for the same length of time and Haley is fine. Maybe the jumping in and out of the pool time after time? IDK. I feel so horrible. It's a lot better this am, but still.

She got up this morning and said something like 52 days til the cruise....and I said no, it's less than that!!! Yippee!!

Try not to feel too bad - it is such an easy thing to happen and nobody is immune from this kind of thing.

wow, I didn't realize you were working full time, where have I been?:confused3

Neither did I!!:confused3

For us it's 45 days 14 hours and 20 minutes, but who's counting.

Doug

I'm counting!!! It is 42 days till we leave home!!!:dance3:

Holly, are you telling us that you are driving 1200 miles on the Saturday of the cruise?

Yup, for a couple months now. Ever since my finaces went down the drain with medical bills, thanks to Tyler's dad's crappy insurance. PLUS my $500/month student loans started at the same time. Those 2 things plus my mortgage are more than my monthly income, so I'm trying to get a 2nd job or one that pays more than my current one. I'm in a scary place right now, so that's why this is the last vacation for a very long time, but am grateful that I don't have a car payment on top of all that, so I realize that things could always be worse. :goodvibes

I didn't order room service on our last cruise. How long does it take to get..that might be a good idea for the morning......

Breakfast is easy - we always order room service breakfast for CC morning. There is a card you leave on your door and you schedule your breakfast time. It's worked for us everytme :thumbsup2

Holly, are you telling us that you are driving 1200 miles on the Saturday of the cruise?
:rotfl: No, not enough hours on Saturday to do that. :lmao: We'll be leaving Friday, and as long as we leave by 2pm, that allows more than 24 hours for the 19 hour drive, but I'm trying to get Friday off work. If they let me have it off, we'll leave very early Fri morning, before sunrise, and I'll just go to bed Thurs at 6pm right after work to get extra sleep, and that will leave us time to stop for short naps and rest stops to get out of the car and stretch. Knowing Tyler, and how he was on the way to TN (which took us 10 hours), he will keep telling me to get back in the car and keep driving so we can get there! My own personal cheerleader!

Morning Thieves pirate:

Well, SEVEN weeks of work left (minus one day) for me! My team-mate will be out about two of those weeks for some minor procedure, so I'll have a shot at earning some overtime too. :thumbsup2

I'm planning on lots of lunch packing, to save up for the out of pocket expenses (taxi's, tips, meals off ship) and to help with dropping a couple of pounds too. Just one 'vacation' meal left for tonight (I've requested we go 'modest' in our choice of restaurants).

MOSTLY I'm going to focus on more physical activity each day. Between the treadmill at the office and the lovely evenings we are now having there's no excuse not to work in some walking time!

oooops...time to hit the shower and head to work...

Holly...I totally feel your pain and understand. Last summer after I had already been settled on this cruise and making payments etc...my daughters ortho said she needed braces:scared1: Then he gave me the bill:scared1: :scared1: I freaked out..no way I could pay for this trip and braces...luckily her teeth did not cooperate and she is on the slow track to braces, but I have still had to spend a pretty penny on the preliminary stuff...additionally she was having problems at school..not like tyler but needed assesments, tests, therapists...OMG costs again came up. Well, after the braces I decided that no more going out to eat, movies, outside places to play. I gave my dd a choice...cruise or weekend outings etc. Now don't get me wrong, we still do take out once a week or two, but I bring my lunch and pack hers daily. She still gets to do fun things that cost money...when she is with her dad, not me. We do fun things for free. I can't tell you how much I have saved. Plus even though I went to dland 2 weeks ago, I paid nothing because I used my dvc for the hotel and my aunt paid for tix, food, gas. I have been working out every detail when I decide to go somewhere or spend money to make sure I can do it as economically as possible. Even our trip this weekend to dland..marr is gracious enough to share a hotel and the car ride down. You are doing a good job buying second hand or even free, but you will see a world of difference just by bringing lunch. I save at least $30 bucks a week..oh an I don't go to starbucks anymore (that was the hardest)...free office coffee for me.

Hope that helps...one single, broke mom to another....

Steph
Thanks Steph! We feel each other's pain!

Well you said earlier you were leaving first thing Saturday!!! This plan at least sounds doable and could be exciting.

Holly,

You might be able to get a deferment due to financial hardship on the student loans. If they are the federally insured type, you can ask for a deferment or forbearance, I forget what it is called. Call and ask, it would give you at least six months of relief and give you a chance to catch up.

Can you post any pics, I'd love to see it. We try not to do much candy, but little gifts instead and specialty chocolates and marshmallows shaped like bunnies.

Hope these photos give some idea. The eggs are not egg-sized, they are bigger. The size varies but I suppose an average sized one is about 8-10" high.

The last one is very similar to the egg my DH bought for me. Yum! :)

Oh, Angie, take time and let it work it's way out of the body, doesn't sound like it is something you can rush along.

Pj

Thank you. I am better today, but still have a headache and feel very weak and dizzy so I am staying home. Hopefully will be able to eat a bit today and that will help.

how much do you usually tip for room service?

WE have used room service for breakfast on port days. Cereal, toast, juice, muffins, etc. We tipped $3 for that, if I remember correctly. For cookies and milk we tipped $1.

Reminds me of the TV ad of the luggage travelling solo around the world :rotfl: :rotfl: Is this what happened to yours :scared1:
Kathe

An old tale in the RAF was that someone invented a new kit bag and to test it, it was to be shipped around the world on various flights. But the RAF Movements people (responsible for cargo etc) lost it!

Their motto is reportedly, "Breakfast in Brize Norton, Lunch in Washington, luggage in Hong Kong". :lmao:

¡Feliz cumpleaños Marilyn!

¡Happy Easter everybody!

Guess what?????? I´M PREGNANT!!!!!!! :cheer2:

I am just waiting to see how morning sickness hits me, because if it is bad, we will have to leave ship, hopefully it will be just like my other pregnancy where I felt great all the time.

In case we don´t make it, since we might cancel at the last minute, we will still be paying for our part of the hummerzine and the fish extender team, so count us in for both, please.

:dance3: Congratulations! :dance3:

I woke up very early today (6am) and was very, very sick. Throwing up and....well, details are not needed. This went on until about 10:30. I have slept off and on and have managed to keep a cup of tea and a piece of dry toast down this afternoon. Even V and Deb's dinners don't sound good. I must be sick. Just up now for a few minutesk but I am dizzy and heading back to lie down again. Happy birthday to Marilyn and Cork.

Angie, I hope you feel better soon. :grouphug:

Good news you are feeling better today Angie. Take care today. It is a bit of a drastic way to get weight off though!!;)
