Hey Steve, okay we are getting ourselves straighten out. My Auntie has asked that we stay with them for 2 nights. We will arrive Thursday but feel like we should head straight over there, so we have Friday morning free for a coffee date, if that works for you. We'll be in Pasadena so that is our general start from location. We'll have a car so I'm game to meet ya where ever works for you. My sister has a portable GPS so we feel invincible :woohoo: :scared1:

Sounds like a plan Nan... How early do you think you can be awake Friday am? We could probably meet over at a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Glendale friday am. I can PM you the details.

Ok so my kind lds neighbor brings this book over called Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. Has anyone else read it yet? is it scary? not sure if this book is for me. need some guidance here.....

Great pics of the Dis meet. I love getting to see everyone - it will make the time on the ship that much easier. I keep trying to match names to faces because I am HORRIBLE with remembering that. Just horrible. So these pics help me.

Quick post. Don't know if everyone has their luggage already, but a certain "retailer" marked their Tumi down today.

Two bags regular price $1,170.

With his discount, someone walked out the door with two bags for $527.

That is a smokin' deal!!!! Basically two for the price of one.

Not positive but it looked like most the bags were roughly $200 off.

Is anyone not doing any "extras" - so no spa, no excursions? I am thinking about our budget and it seems just to go crazy when you add those things on...anyone walk away from a cruise with no bill at all? This one will be tough as our ship board credit doesn't even cover our tips for 6! I used points for our hyatt stay the night before, points for the hertz rent-a-car for ride home...need to pay for transport to the port, and might splurge on a limo...but then think I should just save the money and do a van. But then I really like a limo.

With the spa, I really wanted to try both the Rasul and the Spa Villa for couples. With the excursions, I wanted the kids to do the Dolphins and Sub ride. Argg...I think I would give up my spa so the kids can do the tours, but then I think do they really need those excursions? Being on the ship is going to be such a great vacation in itself.

I figure $100 per kid for souvenirs, knick-knacks, etc. $50 per kid arcade.

How does this compare to some of you guys (if you feel comfortable sharing)? Am I spending more, less, about the same? Having a big family really takes its toll on vacations...

Poor Wil....no fun. :guilty: Glad you finally had a winter without those worries. Tyler has only had 2 ear infections ever (the 2nd one being just last month), so he's been very lucky in that regard. :thumbsup2

The pediatrician tested his hearing today and it was much better than the past tests, and she says there's less fluid, but still some there and his eardrums are still not moving like they should, so she wants him to continue Claritin every day at bedtime for 6 more weeks. But since that does seem to be drying up the fluid a bit, she said no tubes, unless the fluid is still there at the next 6 week check. So.....good news today.

Good news for Tyler. Hope he continues to improve.

Claritin works for Liam too

He was in senior kindergarten and had at least 5 ear infections in the first 4 months he was in school (all caught from his classmates)

That and the poor quality of the teachers in his school made us decide to home school him....It's been 4 years and he has not had one ear infection since

Molly and Wilson take both Clartin and Benadryl daily to avoid the problem of fuild in the ears. Seems to be working so far :thumbsup2

how did Liam catch ear infections? They aren't contaigous as far as I know?

Children's ears are much different than an adults...their canal is flat, a prefect breeding ground for bacteria and water, etc.

Kindergarten is a breeding ground for anything going around

The other parent's thought of school as a daycare centre so they sent their kids to school with full blown colds/strep throat etc...

It does not take much for a kid that young to develop an ear infection, especiallly since they do not blow their noses

I agree with V on this, that ear infections aren't contaigous, but there are some things such as getting and having a cold that can lead to an infection. The other thing that I learned in our path of ear infections is that 2nd hand smoke can also irritate the ears which then makes them more susiceptible to infection.

It is hard to deal with the parents that don't have options and use the school as daycare, I just wish there was another way for some parents. In our school for some economics dictate that kids go to school so parents can work to pay the rent. So it's not always an easy fix for some families. :sad2:

I'm grateful and cautious about spreading germ, my kids stay home and luck for me I work at home so the hit isn't as hard on me as it is on some others.

Thanks for the advice on the milk and the milk cartons. Kelly, that would be great if you check out your cooler too.

Thanks also Linda for posting about the Disney cruise online mix up. They took away about 4 hours of our babysitting time. Weird.

DH has been wanting to get up in time for the Friends of Bill W meeting, but stays up all night reading. Maybe he could get to the Friends of John or Friends of Lisa. He may like them better... hope they don't serve cocktails at those meetings. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

you did note that they don't have any Friends of Nan (Michelle, Holly or Ian) meetings right ?:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: (just to name a few of us who tip them back every now and then...)

HA HA...I have so many friends (let's see, there's now about 300 of us)...but ummm, since I'm not in the Walt Suite...please DO NOT come to my lowly cat 9 cabin. We might be just a tad cramped. :lmao:

oh no, we're just cozy in your room...:rotfl:

High 30s-low 40s???? My heater would be on full blast! :rotfl: Us Californians are wimps!
Lisa

hey speak for yourself, ok I admit it :rolleyes1 I'm a wimp too, that's just nasty cold....

BTW, there's as self-help group now for people who talk a lot. It's called On-and-on-and-on anon...

why do I feel like this was directed at me...and a few other dozen people here? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

So, I've been thinking about how to customize my fish extender.

I found a literal universe of iron on patches on Amazon!

I thought I would share it with you guys because I never knew they were available on Amazon.

I'm now having trouble deciding what to get!

Click Here for the all the patches

.

very cute, Thanks Ian I might get some for me and the kids.

Steve

I'll check with my sis to see if she has any sleeping plans, but I doubt it, what time are you thinking??? remember we are on vaca, but I do wake up on vaca...

Marr, are you home yet???

We had a nice party tonight. Not too big, just right. Marr and the kids came too! Wilson and Dominic hit it off over a DS game of Mario Karts. The girls are old pals now...Jacinda thinks we talk too much, and Molly knows better (we do talk too much)

Thanks for making the trek out tonight, that's a bit of driving, you're a true friend.

I'm not sure that I can stay up too much later...I'm sleepyyyyy
