Hey Holly - glad Tyler has been good for you, I must have misunderstood as I thought he was acting up for you as well....I know my girls are being horrible as of late. Not sure what to do with them.

Hey Nan I do this too. It is really odd at first when you ask them about sending things. They dont really want anything but if you can send things they say ok and thank you. Then they send a list and the things as so basic that it would make you cry to realize these people are far from home risking their lives every day and they want socks. Or get this my female soldier had trouble getting tampons. I mail her tampons because for a while in the begining she was using rags when they would be unavailable. How horrible is that?

There are programs such as any soldier or soldiers angels that can get the ball rolling by finding you a name and address. Some soldiers write you back often and some do not. I figure they are kinda busy defending freedom and all. :rotfl:

ok, I need to make this happen in our family life. It's not right that our soldiers don't have the basics... Thanks for the insight.

I will admit I have just filled out the apps. Bad bad I know but better late then never and I figured since we are spending so much time at the post office shilling cookies I should do it for the kids.

POST OFFICE???? We have never sold them there, I gotta mention that to our cookie chair.

Fill them out. What happens when we get those weekend great deal tickets to Paris???

I have our prescription meds, some supplements(I'm old remember), Bonine, paracetamol, migralieve for John, Imodium, a couple of different indigestion meds, zinc lozenges for colds etc, cough sweets, throat sweets, plasters, antiseptic wipes and cream, and I am sure some others!!:lmao:

That list sounds like ours.....but more American names...
Ibuprofren, Imodium, triple antibiotic ointment, Benedryl cream, BandAids, Nyquil for colds, vitamins, plus all our Prescription meds, Many it's horrible to get old! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: But I will say thanks to my Vytorin, my cholesterol went from 280 to 166! Hurray! And my triglycerides and HDL's are all great now too!

So, today I discovered that my flight from oak to mco has dropped in price by $80.00 per ticket...OMG...so I call US Airways (or criminials as they have now been renamed by me) and it's a $100 per ticket change fee to get the lower fare. NOW, I read the contract and it states there is a $100 fee to change: flight, date or cancel....none of which I want to do, but they state that they have to "re-issue" the ticket and that is where the change come in. I did point out that my flight time has changed and they re-issued me a new tix then and didn't charge me $100 per tix. Oh, well...that was because we made the change. My next statemet...well you're making the change again, because YOU dropped the price, I didn't! So after an hour yelling at someone I am sure could care less..I just hung up! SO FRUSTRATING...that could have been my disneyland $$. SUX

On the other side..if anyone hasn't bought their tix...Oak to MCO overnight on the 7th...$99 per tix plus tax...not a bad price for one way!

Yes we have lemon creme they have lemonades which by the way I want some! Oh and some dang cinnaspins too. :rotfl:

you're gonna hate me, I turned in the last cases on Monday. I'm cookie free!!!!! If you really are dying for a box I'll see if I can get some before my bday PARTY!!! (note to self, just came up with goodie bag favors :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: )

We do have a bad day here and there, but his main issues always have been in school. That's what was so strange because it wasn't consistent, just at school. The things going on at school on a daily basis, I just didn't see at home. But I recently found out that he throws a fit every morning at his dad's, screaming and protesting getting ready, stalling, etc. They constantly have to get after him to get ready. But at my house, we get up, have breakfast, he gets ready while I'm in the shower, and we head out. Up at 7am, out the door at 8am. There are lots of similar situations that only occur at his dad's, primarily because they let him and his dad has admitted that he's very lenient with him and always gives in to Tyler. DUH! No wonder they have trouble with him. I'm a mean mom and don't take any crap, so we don't have many issues. Sure, he has off days just like any other kid, but not every day like at his dad's. Strange, huh? We're learning it's related to his sensory issues and how they deal with him, but I won't bore everybody with the details.

In fact, when I picked him up last Saturday, his stepmom told me, "He's been acting up all day, so hopefully he'll get straightened out while at your house" because she knows I'm stricter than his dad. ;)

Cmon what could be better then having your friends throw things at you for your birthday? :lmao:

OK, I feel better.

We(that is the royal we, me myself and I and Paul complained) that we are having our annual St Pat's McSkjerven Party dug up from the grave...

When Paul and I met, we had great St Pat's parties, until just after Wilson was born (the last one was when he was 2 weeks old) that following year our friends got married on St Pat's day. Today I talked with a few friends and they all agreed that we need to have it again, 7 year itch and all is over!!!....

Party at Nan & Paul's on Monday, come in your green!!!!

I graduated HS in 1974 so you're about a year older than me. The Red Parrot days were probably 1977-80 sometime around there.....I think it became Emerald City afterwards. Of course, I remember Studio 54 too.....but never got in there. How about the Limelight.....it was a church converted into a dance club. Wild. I got in there on halloween one time with my DH so that was years later. Oh how about the Paladium, I've been there too.....that was kind of inbetween the earlier and the later dates. The good old days clubbing in NYC.

Then we did the first and second avenue bar hopping. I lived on 82nd and first and we used to go to a place all the time on the corner called the Mad Hatter. Then on the west side, near a friends house was the Museum Cafe right across the street from The Museum of Natural History......old memories filled with cobb webs now. Anything sound familiar to you. Where did you used to go out in NYC at the time?

Gosh, If Mike ends up at NYU, I guess you can give all the info on the places to go!

sounds like you know them all! Connie

I am so MAD!!! My nanny told my kids today that we are going on vacation in May and she thinks it is the Disney cruise!! It was a total language barrier situation. I had told her that we were taking the time off, and I also told her that it was a surprise for the kids and we hadn't told them. She must have misunderstood. I just called her at home livid after my sons told ME that we are going on the disney cruise. I completely denied it, told them our nanny was confused....I was so looking forward to surprising them at Easter. ARGGG:mad: My DH thinks they will still be surprised and happy, but I feel she took away my surprise. ARGG!

Just checked our Google Map. Are we the only family in Texas?? I thought there were others. If so...

:cheer2: TEXANS, MAKE YOURSELVES KNOWN! THE EAST AND WEST COASTS ARE BEATING US BY A LANDSLIDE!

It should be on the calendar, it shows here and on my touch. If there is a little plus sign on that date, click and it will open up to more information.

Oh, so THAT's what that plus sign is for! :lmao:

Woo Hoo!! :cool1:

Finished my fish extender tonight!

 I wish I could say the same. I did fish out all the supplies I bought and put them all together in one place. Perhaps I'll get a chance to work on it next week while on vacation...if I can convience big sister to help.

Goodnight kids!

.

First week of cookie sales Post office booth was pulling in 250-300 boxes from 3:30-5:30pm daily. Our last post office booth was just 160 boxes, still good though!

Post office has a lot of traffic coming and going so it works pretty well I think. We did Safeway tonight for two hours and sold 102, not great but good enough. Two more booths and we are done!

aew, that's too bad! I had a fun thing happen a few weeks ago....a mom and dad came up to me at the Boardwalk and they were going on the cruise that day. They did the Land and Sea package, BUT THEIR 2 BOYS DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE CRUSE. THEY THOUGHT THEY WERE GOING HOME! I don't know how they kept it from them! Anyway, I walked over to them with maps of the ship and told them I worked for Disney cruise line, and I asked them if they would ever like to go on a cruise. Of course they said yes, and so I told them they were going that very day in about a half an hour! The older one was about 10 or 11 and the younger one about 8 or 9. They were amazing! They laughed and laughed, and we all had to have our pictures tken together, and they got to be the first family on the motocoach to the port!

WOO HOO...can't wait!:cool1:

Hello again you three! Yes we were on the TransAtlantic, the boys, myself and my GF at the time. She decieded she had enough of the boys after I paid for all her cruise expenses and she left for "greener pastures." Is your other son going to be going on this cruise too? Look forward to seeing you again!:woohoo:

Yes, we will all be on the cruse again. This is my DH and my 35th wedding anniversary. So wer are all going together again. I can't wait

What a day! Starts off with me having to take some time off work today so I can be home in time for Shannon to go to her final exam tonight. Which is where she is at. She's taking courses to become a CGA (while working FT and being a wife and mother to two DD's). So no biggie. I get to leave work early.

Then this morning we get a phone call from the school. My DD(6) has been in an "accident" with another student and is bleeding, crying and her front (adult) tooth is loose. They call my wife at work to see if she can talk to my DD to see if she can calm her. No dice. So they ask her to come in.

Shannon goes to the school and the Teacher and Principal explain that she was in PE and playing on some sort of "Scooter board", which is basically a mechanic's creeper, and she hit head on into another student also on a "Scooter board". She plowed her face into the top of th eother child's head. The other child had an ice pak for a few minutes and was off and playing outside. The teacher and principal suggested Shannon take my DD to the doctor or dentist to get the tooth looked at (why did they want her to call then and try and calm my DD down if they felt she needed to see a doctor or a dentist??).

So off Shannon goes to the dentist to try and get in. Luckily it must have been a slow day an she gets in right away. The dentist looks at it and takes some xrays. Announces that nothing is broken (whew), just really bruised. The tooth has actually been knocked up in her gum a little bit (we couldn't tell by looking) and he suggests she doesn't eat solid foods for a few days and hopefully the gums will heal and tighten everything back up and she will be good to go as if nothing ever happened. Worse case scenario, if it doesn't tighten up he said they would have to do a root canal. Shannon and my daughter then went home and had ice cream for the rest of the day.

So needless to say I'm not really happy with the school right now. I'd like to know why they are using these "scooter boards" in a manner where 6 year olds (Grade 1's) are potentially running headfirst at each other? Does common sense not play a factor? I mean if it was out in the playground during recess I can understand it, but not in a supervised and supposedly "structured" class environment. And no it wasn't "freeplay", it apparently was a structured lesson of some sort.

Sorry, needed to vent a bit. I now return you to your regularly scheduled DISing ....
