So, Flat Stanley and I went to visit Woody and Steph for a short visit to DL this morning. I took some pics of the restaurants that everyone was asking about:

It was fun to meet both of you.
Hi all,

We had SO MUCH fun at Magic Mountain. We actually upped our 2-days for $40 very special rate by another $20 and got 2008 passes. My crew just ran from thrill ride to thrill ride and really had a blast. Very different crowd than DL, but lots of fun for my teens. :yay: :yay:

I have ... ahem small applause here please ... caught up on the thread!! :cheer2: (okay so I missed #6 completely) :confused3

Hope someone is still around to chat with.

:tinker: Karen
Did you go this weekend. I drove by friday and sunday and it looked closed and quiet.
Oh, that's neat! Good luck to him! Mike went to NYU this weekend for an admited student presentation. He's going to Santa Clara in San Jose this weekend. He's got major decisions to make. He still has 2 more schools to visit, too.

I've had many friends go thru santa clara. THey all really liked it.

He's done some work in San Jose at Lockheed Martin, so he knows the area, but I wish he would choose a law school on the east coast, purely for selfish reasons! ( not sucha long airplane trip to visit)

Sad thing today. I thought we'd go see the Easter Bunny today and have Tyler's picture taken with him. Nope. He said, "I'm not going. Who wants to get their picture taken with some guy in a bunny costume?" :sad2: I told him I want to, but he didn't believe me. Then I told him I'll sit on the bunny's lap and Tyler can take a picture of us and he looked at me like I was crazy, shook his head at me, and walked out of the room. I told him the Easter Bunny will be very sad and might not want to come leave him a basket of goodies. He told me that's OK with him. :guilty:

Now that is sad.

Ok to get over my sort of doom and gloom of last week (which is about 1/2 gone... sort of..

I went and bought myself another pair of crocs!!!

I got the Malindi in Cotton Candy!!!

So if anyone else on the cruise has the same in a size 10... :lovestruc :lovestruc I guess we'll have to do the old name on the bottom of the shoe thing my mother used to do in grammar school...:rotfl:

I'll have several pairs of Crocs in size 10, but none in Cotton Candy...

THAT'S what my problem is! No, seriously! I used to always move every year. I always rented and when it was time to renew my lease, I was bored and wanted a new place. But I specifically bought this house 2 years ago for permanence for Tyler's sake. My family is really teasing me lately because I haven't stayed 2 years in one home since before I moved out of home in the late 80s! My favorite part of every move was looking forward to tossing out a bunch of clutter and starting fresh at the next place.

I'm in awe of people like you, Holly. I've lived in my home 30 years and no plans to go anywhere. I should move, just to make me go through my junk!

Nan's DH and mine both went to Santa Clara law school. I'm a big fan of that school! I hope my DK go the undergrad there...although I might have to forego on some cruises to pay for it!:scared1:

Hello all!

It's been a while since I have had time to join in on the fun that is DISBOARDS! :thumbsup2
I am Cynthia, husband JT and our new son Jonathan:cloud9: who will be 7 Mo's when we set sail. I go by Elderfam and want to take part in the fish exchange. my DH and I sailed on the east bound transatlantic last May. While on board my father passed away in Indiana, so this is my do-over cruise. I will say that we soooo enjoyed meeting fellow disboards members last year and look forward to meeting all of you in May.
Is anyone doing lanyards for this trip?
Please let me know if I can help in any way.
Warm regards,
Cynthia

So I'm back from the mouse house. Here's the update...
Nemo was cute. IMHO..not worth an 1 1/2 wait glad I did it first thing sat. morning, but cute nonetheless. The competition ended. Varsity didn't make finals, but JV did and they got 6th place. Not bad for their first attempt. Next year, they'll be better!
The LA traffic always suprises me. I forget that it doesn't matter what time of day or night, it's always trafficy!
I'm glad I got my disneyland run out of the way. It was a beautiful so cal weekend. Much nicer than nor cal! I have a nice sunburn! Hopefully it'll turn into a tan. As stated earlier I met Woody and Kelly (edna mode) at disneyland, briefly. We went on some rides together and I got to see the lanyard sample in person...it's cool. I'm glad I ordered it!
Now, I am home. My kitty is very happy to see me. I realized I left my sunglass case and phone charger in the hotel. What a bummer! PS...love the LA gas prices. Saved $10 bucks filling up down there.

Hope you all have a good night.
Steph

I know the service stories were a ways back, but if you'll bear with me, I have one to share. This is about my uncle. He was a gunner during WWII. During a mission over Italy the plane malfunctioned, went into a nosedive, and he was ordered to jump. The plane recovered and flew back to the base, but my uncle was stuck behind enemy lines. He went to a farmhouse and asked for help. For six weeks, various families hid him in their houses and barns, moving him every couple of weeks, so he--and they--wouldn't get caught. This was toward the end of the war, and the Americans had finally reached a town nearby. So the local people who had been helping him finally were able to reunite him with the troops.

Fast forward 50 years. A man who was just three years old when his family helped hide my uncle tracked down my mother trying to find my uncle. Sadly, my uncle had passed away in 1979. But we struck up a friendship with this family and we all travelled to Italy to visit them in 1999. They showed us all around the village and pointed out the different hiding places. We stopped in one home, and an 80-year-old woman told us tales of my uncle and SAID HOW GRATEFUL THEY WERE TO THE AMERICANS. She said my uncle was a great man. It just made us all cry. Those people who helped hide and care for a missing soldier were the heroes.

Well, thanks for listening. I was so inspired by your stories, I just had to share mine.

Awesome story. Thank you for sharing. We can never hear too many stories of those who have sacrificed for us.:goodvibes

Welcome! You will want to PM Liserann with your info so you are on the list of those that have fish extenders. We set up some teams to help with some of the days - I think Day 1, Mishoe01's team, could use another supporter if you want to join a team. Otherwise, a lot of people are giving little gifts on their own. Liserann will put your name on the list of those that have fish extenders and then Seaulater, Linda, is making a mini-navigator that will have all the info in it. We have lots of great things planned - once you get on the other website (PJpoohbear), you will read all about it. Plus Monica puts a good summary with the first post.

Another member of flounders! I wonder how many little ones we will have on the ship! We have a 2 year old. I hope he likes it there, as I'd like some time at the adult pool!

Welcome!
Lisa

We usually make it 4-5 years before we start itching to move (I think it takes us that long to forget what a pain moving really is). But when we do move we go big - PA to Calgary, back to PA then to IL, back to PA then CA. And we've moved 1 time in CA, 3 hours from 1st location.
