May 10, 2008 Ship of Thieves...May 2008 Repo Thread...Part 7

Morning all,

We finally unwrapped the suitcases and have moved them down to the bedrooms.....piles of do not forget items are now growing on a table and I think we are on the final lists of what to bring.

It is just so hard to comprehend that we are all about 50 days away from our cruise....wow....the last 50 days has just vanished....was it 40 days ago we all endured the all-nighter with our reservations..

I will be wandering on PC day, I don't do the crowds so well. When I go to WDW it is almost always during slower times of year. Is there viewing on Deck 4 on the running track or is the front of the ship completely closed off around the front, I have only walked around the back end of the ship.Pj

If I remember correctly, there's no view from right at the front or back of Deck 4. Whilst you can generally walk through, these areas enclosed. The machinery for anchors/mooring cables or whatever is there.

But I'm sure there will be good views to be had from many places onboard. Personally, I don't think a straight front view will necessarily be the most interesting.

I'm feeling very relieved. I have finally found subs to cover my WW meeting while I am on the cruise. It was tough, because the last Sunday is Memorial Day weekend and for other leaders like me, who work a full time weekday job, giving up a holiday weekend hurts.

But I am finally covered.

The spring staff weight loss challenge also continues. I had a t-shirt on under my shirt and gym shorts under my pants (trousers for our UK friends) yesterday, so before the 8:00 AM meeting started I was weighed. I lost 0.6 pounds last week.

I'm actually very happy they are doing the challenge it gives me a goal and a focus.

TOP O THE MORNIN AND A HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY TO ALL!!!

A very busy weekend here - painting and celebrating....We spent all of Saturday at home painting the front of the house and planting flowers for Waster - Sunday it was to the Gaelic Mass at the Irish Fest and finally home. Watched a movie about the little folk on TV before heading too late to bed.

Enjoy the day...Bet I can't catch up at all now.

Morning

Was just wondering if someone could describe what a 'cooling box' is? (as described in the cabin descriptrion)

I cannot remember using it on our land & sea trip three years ago

I suspect it is a mini fridge, but could be wrong

Could you store a small carton of milk and keep it for several days?

Good Morning. Just wanted to chime in that DH and I will have a balcony on Deck 6 (if we ever get out of the lifeboats :lmao: ) and everyone is more than welcome to view the canal crossing from there too. We would love to be part of the verandah crawl. :dance3: :rockband: :dancer:

It's the mini fridge in the stateroom, but truely is just a cooling box. It will help keep things cold, but pretty much can't MAKE things cold. It will keep leftover food 'safe' and if you've iced a bottle of wine, then put it in the fridge, it should stay cold. But it you filled it with warm cans of soda or beer you wouldn't have much success getting them cold. In that case, use the ice bucket first, then move them to the fridge.

Jackie,

Thanks...just wanted I wanted to know...it's like the 'chill zone' in my Caliber...much vaunted feature....but as you say...will keep things cold things cool, but will not make warm things cold...

Goodmorning all, I should warn you that there are some very serious winds headed your way (as if Gydell needs anymore wind!) We have had a couple of days of harsh wind here and when it wasn't windy it was rainy. Weird weather.

goodness, ok these are from yesterday at the pool....

These pictures are gorgeous.

Thanks! I forgot to add we all got Tickets for the Lilly Belle too! (Ya gotta love things just made to be scrapbooked :cool1: )
Go to the Main Street Station and ask one of the conductors. That's it - super easy.
We actually got on the train with this car in New Orleans. We asked the conductor there and he told us that car can only be boarded at Main Street. So we rode around to Main Street and asked and got to go right in - 6 others rode with us and we had our own conductor who sat with us and gave us some background info. Very interesting and a lot of fun.

2 weeks ago we asked about getting rides on the Lilly Belle and were told that we can't ride in it. We were at NOreleans when we asked. We must have asked the wrong question.... "where can we get on to ride it?" Lisa, those pictures were beautiful. I'm now on a mission.

The joke of the day today, was that it was ok to take a photo of one of the people at the brunch, as long as they were not identified. Photos are coming soon. I was only able to get one photo with my digital "brownie" so I am waiting for all the others to post so I can get the better photos.

The unidentified stranger in the group, should have been the one taking the photos like Bubba suggested in the first place! But then she would have had to remember to bring her reading glasses to see through the lens. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I thought the funniest thing of the day was the "Digital Brownie" - Susie leans over and says, "she doesn't know what a brownie is" (she was way too young!)

We stayed at Pardise Pier a couple years ago. You can go swimming at the Disney Land Never Land Pool. Also there's a quiet pool over there. We watched the fireworks from the roof of the parking garage, right next to the pool. It was great. Connie

Connie, make sure you see the show from main street. The audio and the show on the castle is wonderful. It is the entire history of DL.
HAHAHAHAH:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
ok, back to reality. It's beautiful and if you can wear that after 2 kids more power to ya sister :worship:
I'm with V no more triangle tops in my lifetime...oh those were the days...:rolleyes1 :sad2:

UMMMMM, Yea. What she said!!!!

1. You must never, ever go into any other stateroom ever.
2. You must never, ever allow anyone into our stateroom ever.
3. You must check in on the marker board, by page or by phone. I have to know where you are at all times.
4. You must appear at pre-arranged meeting times and places.
5. I will need an introduction to your friends. (I really mean they have to just tell me who they will be with but if I'm on Deck 10 reading, I'll want them to stop up to say hello.)
6. You may not enter the elevators.
7. You must stay together.
8. You can only hang out in approved areas, such as the clubs, promenade lounge or pool area.
9. No randomly walking around or exploring.
10. No running or yelling.
11. Absolutely no Ding, Dong, Ditch (ringing doorbells and running).
12. You must eat dinner with us. (I’ll probably let them eat in the clubs later in the week but don’t want to tell them in advance).
13. You must participate is several family excursions or outings of my choice.
14. You must be in the room by 9PM unless you are with me.
15. You may not eat anything within 2 hours of dinner.
16. If you think I will think it is a bad idea, it is.
17. Any infractions of the above rules will result, without argument, in the removal of your sign out privileges.
18. No going anywhere near the railings and no throwing stuff overboard.
19. No room service without prior approval.

Love this!

We bring a great soft sided cooler and fill a large gallon size bag of ice to keep inside the cooler box and it will stay cold enough for milk.

It is a mini fridge. They are not real cold, but we have kept cartons of milk and juice in there for a couple of days. It cools, but does not really "chill" wine.

Editing to say, Jackie explained this a whole lot better!

Well funny you should ask, I plan on Napa Rose or Steakhouse 55 for dinner, but totally open to suggestions for the other meals of the day. If anyone wants to splurge with us please come join (I'm an AP so at least that is some discount) I'm going to call them now and see what is open, thanks for reminder :thumbsup2

we have ressy's for 8:30 on the 25th.

thanks to everyone who answered

Just trying to figure out where to store some milk for our early morning cuppas

I am not sure I made it clear, but the list of rules aren't mine - I stole them from another thread. Just wanted to make sure I gave credit!

I think there are a couple things I'd change with the rules - I think they could come home after 9pm if they are in the clubs. So must be home at 9pm unless in clubs or with us. Unless it is May 15 - bed early that day since it is early to rise! Other than May 16, I will let the kids sleep in as long as they want. Also, the rule about the elevator - I think I will tell them if they have to go more than 3 floors, elevator would be fine. I want them to walk more and also not be tempted to push multiple stops. Sometimes it is just a mistake when the kids do it, but it does tend to get others pretty mad.

If anyone has any rules to add, please do so! I love Nan's idea to laminate them. If we want, I can laminate a few of them - although I imagine most of us will want to go through the rules multiple times before getting on the ship. But as soon as I get them final, I will get them laminated on a small card that can be attached to their lanyard. What might work well is to have the same rules for a group of the kids - kind of like school. That way, they have the peer pressure to follow the rules (hopefully not peer pressure the other way!).
