This will be our last cruise for some time - I have opted to have a pool put in and what should be a simple process has now turned into a project that costs more than my first house! And as much as I love cruising the pool is my childhood dream :)

Pools can be very expensive. Especially if you have an in ground gunite one. It will be here for ever. The upkeep is quite expensive also. Ours needs a lot of maintenance right now, but to do everything that needs doing is will cost more than twice the original price of the pool. The thing about getting a childhood dream pool is at least my children and GS enjoyed it way more than me.

I am here - just looking through my docs - did not get to look at them too close last night - excited that we get to do on board check in for LAX - did not know if they were doing that or not.

We will be grabbing a cab right off the ship and heading for DL for a few days..then Vegas...then San Fran. Then home.....total days for this trip..23!!

You guys are absolutely impossible to keep up with these days.

So just a drive by post to say my brother had a tracheotomy done yesterday to make him more comfortable with the vent. He is also now able to respond by shaking his head yes and no, but still a bit out of it due to the meds. It's going to take some time explaining everything that has happened to him in the last two weeks, but at least we have that opportunity now. He has really stabilized, so hopefully we can get him moving in the right direction before we leave him for two weeks.

Wonderful news John, continued prayers for Manual and your family.

:confused3 Okay, I assume you're all referring to paperwork that is getting delivered??? We haven't received anything more that the usual DVD "getting ready" books and the 2-page confirmation sheet from DCL. Are we missing something or is it most likely in transit:confused:

They should be in transit. You can track them on the UPS website by using your res# as reference.

Mine will arrive Fri or Sat ..if my driver gets lazy

This is the 'official' documents with your luggage tags etc

check on ups.com....tracking by reference # and enter in your DCL reservation # and click on track

Don't worry. It will be coming soon. It really is not very exciting. Just makes the trip seem more real and so much closer. There will be a few forms to fill in if you didn't do it online. It will also have transfer and air info if you booked through DCL.

Never had a pool...our neighborhood has one and it works just great! Our friends have one and it is great...but a lot of upkeep. More than I would want to do. Our healthclub has a pool that is alway empty too!

no it is a liner pool BUT the cost is not actually the pool itself - it is the fact we are putting it on the side of the hill and need retaining walls and since we live in an historic house to make the pool area blend the walls are all being faced with brick and we are using wrought iron for the fence. We also had a well drilled for the pool and for the irrigation system - everything is going to be cool once we get it done :)

How many bags are you bringing? Family of 3= 4 bags and 1 carry on back pack for the plane...and of course my purse

Hey, I just heard on the radio this morning on the way to work that Extreme Makeover Home Edition is coming to Lansing next season! I hope they pick somebody I know so I can go watch, help, and DROOL over Ty Pennington! :goodvibes Very cool!

That is great! Ty is so wonderful! I have a few jobs he could come work on!

Oh, that is a relief. I was hoping we coud do onboard check in for LAX. Thanks for posting this. No docs here yet.

yes they had torn them out and all our information is already filled in on them. here is some of the wording:

Enjoy the convenience of Onboard Airline Check if you have purchased your air or ground transfer arrangements through Disney cruise line. You can check your luggage and receive your boarding pass before you diebark the ship.

Available on: Airtran, Alaska, American, Contiental, Delta, JetBlue, Northwest, United/Ted and US Air - scheduled flights must depart no ealier than 12 pm.

To enroll, please complete the information below and return to a DCL representative upon CHECK IN. You will not be able to enroll once onboard.

Hope that helps! Sometimes I question us using disney transport but this is another reminder why I do like to use it.

Thanks for the Incentive Jackie.

That is great for people who booked through DCL...but i wish for those who booked their own air and saved a ton of $$$ they would let them check in too!

I know it will be beautiful once you get it done. We had to have a lot of dirt brought in behind the pool area. We could of went with a retaining wall. We put down a lot of river stone and planted a lot of blue rug juniper plants behind it. At the time they didn't have all the fancy stone retaining walls they have now on the market. We are just to old now to do any major work on it as long as it doesn't get a major leak, we have nothing to worry about.

Forgot to mention . . .

Yesterday morning (7:00 am) , before school, my brother's students held a prayer vigil for him at the flagpole in front of the school. There were about 40 students and staff there, and they asked me to lead them in a prayer (something I am not used to). It was very moving, and I also got to give them an update on him afterward.

These same students have also organized a blood drive for him at the local hospital. Two of his former students are taking my 86 year old father out to lunch today and are going to play 500 rummy with him this afternoon to keep him company.

For all those who sometimes think the current younger generation is hopeless, there is still plenty of hope. And yes, this is at an inner city, Public High School. These kids have been spectacular.

I am sooooooooooooooo hungry for DCL food......especially the rolls with the nice crispy crust! Strange I know

Edna Mode

LANYARDS -- Yep, I got the PM...plan on sitting down with Meg today since we both finally have same day off together. Will reply directly at that time.

Now, we're not gonna look like the red-headed stepkids by having different colors are we? Haha

don't worry the badges will be exactly the same, so it won't stand out that much.
