John - I like your taste in musical.
Anyone have concert t-shirts? We all could wear them one night. At the pub crawl?

Gulliver's was a prime rib restaurant chain. There was one in Marina del Rey.No, I'm not familiar w/Gulliver's--is/was it in the HB area or LA area? Creamed corn sounds yummy! . . .
Are you familiar at all with the Spanish Kitchen on Beverly Blvd?
. Wilson may have a journal and some plant experiments to do. I guess I have to figure out if he can bring on seeds to do this or not, hmmmm customs might have a problem with this huh?
Jackie, Have you seen that ad on TV lately that says for every pound one loses in weight, it takes 4 pounds of pressure off the knees?? I thought that was very interesting!
I'm so happy right now - DH just made me a latte and surprised me with a little Irish Creme in it!! This is the life . . .
Something Exotic
Not that I intend to bore everyone with pictures of my car (even if I am), BUT, I thought that these photos might be a bit exotic for some of you.
In the past few months some of you have posted pictures of your houses and lovely environs.
It occurred to me that our Chicago environs might be exotic for some of you.
So here are some pictures taken today, behind our house.
We live next to the El. We have no backyard, though we do have a small patio off to one side of the garage.
So, here are some photos of us and Mrs. Fezziwig in our natural habitat:

You aren't going to pack the car, are you?
Smart Car Day!
We were up bright and early this morning to go and pick up Mrs. Fezziwig, our "orphan" Smart Car.
The people who originally ordered Mrs. Fezziwig, decided that they really wanted a Cabriolet model which is a convertible. However, they were too late as the build process had started and she was delivered.
They decided they didn't want Mrs. Fezziwig and preferred to wait for a convertible.
Oddly enough, she is nearly identical to the car I ordered, with the exception of missing 2 small options I had wanted. I was facing a 12 month wait, so I opted to "adopt" Mrs. Fezziwig.
Took much longer than I thought it would at the dealer, but we said goodbye to the 1998 Subaru Forester, and drove Mrs. Fezziwig off.
We did a bit of shopping today and I was a bit unprepared to have drawn so much attention to us with people honking at us.
At one point at an intersection, we quite literally stopped traffic.
I did not grow up with cars. My father never knew how to drive a car. As a child, in my entire family only 1 person knew how to drive a car, my aunt.
I did not learn how to drive until I was 28 and moved to Chicago for a job. The job entailed flying around the country, visiting customers and setting up their back office mini-computer systems.
When I was hired, no one ever bothered to ask me if I knew how to drive or not.
In a space of 3-weeks I got my learner's permit, took a flurry of driving lessons (I actually learned how to drive in Chinatown in NYC), got my Illinois License and bought a car.
Because I did not grow up with cars, they have never meant very much to me.
This is the first time I have ever bought the exact car I wanted. The really funny thing is, that for me, Mrs. Fezziwig, is a "sporty" car. Maybe I'm having a mid-life crisis.
Consequently, I am just not used to driving a car that draws any attention from anyone.
Here are some photos of us with Mrs. Fezziwig:

I like crush, but squirt is so cute!!!!!!!
Hi Gydell, I'm here and still without a room assignment too. I had to go for blood and urine tests this morning and I hate the needle part. I don't do well with that kind of stuff.....broke out in a sweat and the nurse thought I was going to faint. I'm in pain all the time and she really hurt me.....poking me twice and pressing hard on the vein to get the bleeding to stop. Not a good day....my arm still hurts. So I took it easy and read the boards, did some PMing and watched a movie.
35 days from today and we'll be on board.....I am just so very excited today. I watched the history channel's modern marvels on the PC. Then I checked out Jackie's link on the PC.....and I've been reading the new Passporter on the PC. Can you tell I'm getting anxious! I am so psyched to actually go through the locks. I can't wait to say what Teddy Roosevelt said, "I took the isthmus." I think I'm going to have John make me a shirt with that on it so I can wear it on crossing day.
Now get your packing finished so you'll be ready to go on Monday morning right? How long will you be there for? If it's going to take another two weeks to get a room, I would rather wait it out in St. Maartin....it's actually good timing then.
I think I have one bad now because I had to have one eye closed so I could read!
