I've never put my meds in baggies. They're in those weekly pill thingys and I just leave them in my carry on. I've never had a problem doing that. But in Jan. when my nephew and I flew to LA to go to DL, I had a bottle of kids' cold medicine in my carry on. I didn't even think about it. I guess they saw it in the X-ray and opened my bag to see what it was. They didn't take it away, just told me I should have kept it out for them to see.

Whew, you got lucky there!

Wow, that's a lot of new rules.....I'm going to put the bathroom bag and the meds bag in the suitcase to be checked in so I don't have to worry about it. What about my manicure set? It has a nail file and a scissor in it. Can I bring it and leave it in the check in bag? The shoes will be croc flip flops and the laptop will come out of the bag, those will be easy. Thanks for the heads up.

Deb, I wouldn't pack my meds in the luggage to be checked. If it lost or delayed it could cause real problems for you.

We always carry on our meds. :thumbsup2

Our Oldest daughters FIL fell and broke his arm. He had to have a total shoulder replacement. I've have been pulling double Grandma duty babysitting. Her DMIL babysat one day a week and I picked up her day, plus my day and the additional babysitting when they went to the hospital to visit him. Also her inlaws live across the street from us, so we have been visiting them as well. Today was my day to work at the hospital as well.

You need a few  then at the moment. Hopefully the invalid will be improving now, but with that type of injury/operation I suppose he will neede help for a while.

Another way of doing it, but the busses get in a bit later is to take the DCL busses from one of the WDW resorts!!! You will have to take a cab or something over to one of the resorts to get it (I know POFQ is one... and some of the Deluxes are also...) That way you may be able to skip that run to the airport...

That's precisely why we moved from the ASMovies to the POFQ. We don't mind getting in a bit later - there was no one in front of us at the lineups at the port and we feel we weren't rushed.

Plus the girls liked the bus ride with the videos and we liked not having to worry about out luggage. It was picked up early that morning and we got it when we got to the ship.

We might have missed all the characters and the fun at the port when we got there, but it was also very nice not to be in a line and just start the relaxing right from the moment we wake up.

Thanks for the hugs. Being busy has it's pluses, the time is going by faster. :thumbsup2

Deb...

I take my meds with me all the time and believe me... I'm a walking pharmacy. I keep them in a meds bag in my carry on. In the original containers ESPECIALLY since some of mine are heavy duty pain killers. They can and will confiscate anything that is a narcotic if it is not in it's original container. Also I carry a photo copy with all my rx's just in case something needs to be replaced.

I have never had a problem carrying meds this way.

Depending on what you use for a carry on... I use a rolling back pack for mine and it works well.

Sounds like another sister here.....I have narcotic and nonnarcotic pain killers and muscle relaxers and steroids.....yea, a walking pharmacy, me too! Thanks for all the help, I really appreciate it.

You can send boxes to your resort ahead of time. Give them a call, but I do believe that all you need to do is put hold for your arrival and the res # w/your name. Send it either UPS or Fed Ex as you can track those packages. I plan on sending mine to the GF.

Well.... I was LEAVIN out the FATTY part!!! :lmao:

Hey... I need all the help I can get!! ;)

:wizard:

Question for those mailing items - since we are spending several days at WDW ahead of time I do not want drag all our stuff to Orlando and was thinking of mailing some things like our snorkle gear and formal clothes - had anyone done this before - if so how far in advance do you send it? And what is the best way to send it? i am going to pack suitcased inside suitcases so I have places for everything to come home :)

I am a little nervous doing it but at the same time want the convience.

We are sending a box down to the Poly and will check it with our luggage when we leave for the cruise. Sending a box to the port seemed to have alot of restrictions, re: size and items you could send. We will send the box down on Monday before the cruise. We arrive at the Poly on the 7th.

Does it matter if you're flying nonstop vs. changing planes? I'm not sure what a qt. size bag looks like and whether all my meds and John's meds are going to fit in just one bag. Probably not......I can just see me carrying on 5 bags of medicines.

Medications, baby formula and food, breast milk, and juice are allowed in reasonable quantities exceeding three ounces and are not required to be in the zip-top bag. Declare these items for inspection at the checkpoint.

I know about the later busses from the resorts but I figure if I have to go somewhere else I might as well do the easy part (and free) to go back to airport. we will probably still not get to port till between 12 and 1 knowing us. I will decide on the MYW return trip on Thursday before the cruise - depending on how we are feeling!

As for the boxes - I want to send them to the cruise - not the resort - can anyone point me to the rules and regs for limitations on the boxes? Thanks.

Welcome...we are a friendly and chatty bunch!

I pm'd you about the fish team.

Got it - will respond to you soon! I too am ready to get started with it! Looking forward to our team!

Thanks again Cork.....I'm a believer, now how do I convince DH?

That's a great story Kathe, lesson learned. Hard to believe that her luggage could vanish into thin air on a direct flight, but she is living proof that it happened. Thanks for sharing.....I will definitely be carrying on mine and John's meds.

Deb,

I have also had a checked bag come up missing on a direct flight from Ontario, CA to Reno. That is not an easy feat but the airlines are up to it. Be sure to put your Med's in your carry on. I do a lot of flying and have never had any problems with the meds but have lost, had them take, cork screws, small screw drivers, (pocket type) and a small 2" crescent wrench that was on my key chain. Have also had them break the blade, nail file and scissors off of a money clip.:sad2: Just depends on how much of a pain they want to be and if they are on a power trip that day. They do provide the QT. size bags for liquids and paper booties for your feet.

Thank you Cork....wow you are really being very helpful today!

Now I know why I haven't flown since 911.....this is really starting to sound like a nightmare. I'm not the criminal, don't punish me. Make your rules within reason and I'll follow them but it sounds exactly like what you have said.

I know I usually put them in a carry on, but since it's a nonstop flight, I thought maybe it would be safe enough that my luggage won't get lost.

Do you think I should put them in plastic bags and keep them in my carry on bag still? I have lots and lots of them that are all in one a medicine bag.

What do you think?

I think anything can happen, nonstop or not, and I would want my necessary medication with me.

Thanks Lisa, so nice of you to do that and post the link. Now I have to look up the corkscrew that I carry in my make up bag.....I'm always prepared.....can you tell that I like drinking wine and champagne when I'm out travelling.

WE too have a corkscrew, but it is in the outside pocket of our checked luggage with our SkipBo cards....two decks just in case.

Just get the quart size ziplock baggies at the grocery. If you need 2 or 3 that is ok. Just put them in your carryon. They usually don't take them out, they just scan them, but if they do want to examine them they (or you) are not required to dig around through the carryon.
