Well, I'm all caught up on the thread.

Now it's off to read JM Barrie's original "Peter Pan and Wendy" to the girls before bed time.

I might pop back in after I get them to bed.

If anything is incorrect, please PM me and I will fix. We are 41 total and finished.....the club is closed. We'll be having our little party on PC crossing day at 4pm. Not sure where yet. We will let you know as it gets closer.

V, does your lap top have a slot for your memory card. Some laptops don't need to have the hook up. You can just insert the card into the slot on the side.

V, yours does have card reader slots, they could be on the side or the front.

Welcome aboard!!!! Just jump right in, skim page 1 of this thread for lots of good information. Tell us about yourself!

Thanks for such a warm welcome. Everyone seems so nice on here.:goodvibes

It's just the four of us going on this trip - me, dh, ds(5) and dd(3). This will be our first DVC stay at OKW from May 4 - 10 and then after the cruise we are staying at the GC until Wed. I'm so excited for this trip but I think I'd be more excited if could get a stateroom number assigned. I feel really displaced being GTY but I guess I shouldn't complain since we only booked in January.

I've been skimming through some of the old posts and I thought I was the only one having problems booking excursions at the 90 day mark. :rotfl2: I should have found this thread earlier... I wouldn't have been so frustrated knowing others were having the same problems. I never was able to get a reservation for a Palo brunch after being online until 1:00 am (4 hrs total). I managed to get only 2 of the 4 excursions I wanted that night and booked the other 2 the next morning.

Whew! Can't do it myself...Thank goodness for the Spray on tan. A few minutes and you get two weeks of tan, and it not only looks good, but you can tan in the sun over it!
In my case, I can say that my philosophy is....
"Tanned fat ALWAYS looks better!!"

:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

my DMIL sent me an email with this pic. I wanted to share.

I wasn't sure if I should laugh:lmao: or cry:sad1: .

I have to admit I laughed.

Thanks - I was just pulling up my file manager to try and remember where on the website I had put the files. Saved me some time! :goodvibes

Thought I would share a story for those wondering about getting stamps in your passport. (I've never gotten one on a DCL cruise. :sad2: )

Last summer DW and I took a Med Cruise with Princess. We started in Greece, visited Turkey, Israel, Egypt, and ended in Rome. When we boarded the ship, they took and kept our passports. Before arriving in Turkey, they gave them back to us already prestamped for Turkey. When we got back on the ship after Turkey, they again collected our passports. The same was done for Egypt and Rome. But Israel was a bit different.

On the sea day before we arrived in Israel, we had to go to one of the lounges. There, a crew member handed us our passport that had the Israeli immigration paperwork tucked inside. When you go to Israel, they won't normally stamp your passport because a lot of countries won't let you in if you have an Israel stamp in it. (My father has to passports for this reason - he works both in Israel and Saudi Arabia, and has to have a permanent visa for both - so they made arrangements for him to have two different passports).

We then had to meet an Israeli immigration officer (who had boarded back in Athens). He inspected our passports, asked us few questions. He stamped the insert as we talked. Once he was done, we asked if we could have a stamp in the passport too. He looked at us silently for second, his eyes watered, he responded 'Absolutely' and reached for our passports and very deliberately stamped them. He handed them back, thanked *us* and got up and walked us out of the lounge (the only time we saw someone do that - and there were 5-6 immigration officers present in the room dealing with other passengers).

What a great memory to have!! Thanks for sharing.

Deb,

Alison, my daugher and I will be in the pool on 9th so we will see you there okay as we are having relax and have a cocktail too

Scottishwee35

Deborah, it sounds really nice to do the pool on the 9th, but I'm not staying at the Radison. I'm on the oceanfront in Cocoa Beach at the Holiday Inn. We'll see each other for dinner at Fishlips I think.

We'll see you at the Radisson on Friday :thumbsup2

I just wanted to say hi and subscribe to this thread. I'm really new at posting so I'm not sure of the formalities - hopefully I'm doing this correctly. :scared1:

Welcome aboard!

Nice to have another Canuck onboard. And one who is even further north than I am! So you should be leaving snow and going on the cruise and then coming home to the end of the snow, eh? LOL

I have to unpack, wash and repack and I'm ready to go.

Gydell, do you want to go now and get a head start on everyone else, since we're ready to go I mean.
:rotfl: :cool1: Sounds like you're feeling better Deb. Hope you got my pm , I LOVE the T-shirt, it is so cute!
I am planning on a big shop in April. Still hope to lose a few lbs for then.:)

Me too Marilyn. But I don't know if I can wait until then, I'll be in a panic by April. Think I'll start to buy a few things and just keep the tags on in case I have to exchange them for a different, preferably smaller;) size.

So it was a bad day of shopping today for me.

I went to Wal Mart to pick up some things for the geocaching lesson I'm to give on the cruise, and I came home with The Aristocats on DVD. Picked up nothing for the geocaching. Ended up forgetting all about even looking at that stuff as I got caught up in buying The Aristocats and then looking for Return to Neverland and discovering 101 Dalmations didn't come out yet (Mar 4). Bought the one movie and left. Got home and remembered why I originally went up there.

Hmmm

Bottle of wine for my wife - check
Couple of webkinz things for the girls - check
Aristocats move - check
Geocaching stuff for me - oooppppssss

I had the exact same experience booking on-line - got 2 excursion, no brunch that night in 4 hours. Got the other 2 excursions the next morning too!

MY FIRST SERIOUS POST - Not that you do not have enough to organize but....on our November 2005 cruise, we had a "kids meet event" for the kids mostly in school. Each kid brought postcards from thei state or local area. On the back of the postcard a greeting was writtten, many inlcuded the state birds, motto and other news. We had a map of the US (for this cruise it owuld need to be the world) and part of the fun was to see how many states could be colored in - many children had not met so many others from different parts of the states. This information was then used in a school report. Most folks went to the local Dollar stores for postcards. There were not as many Dissers and I participated (no kids) and my cards were generic views of Florida - flowers, fish, dolphins, views of the city etc. It was fun to see the little ones going around and exchanging post cards. Webistes list the various songs, mottos, mascots of the state and some folks printed these and pasted them to the back. A screen name was included for reference. Just a thought - it could be a kids scrap book - or authograph book, along with greetings from the kids friends they meet on the cruise. I still have my postcards somewhere.

OK BACK TO CHATTING NOW.
Sounds like a great idea!

We have a 4th grader. I was hoping he would do a report on the canal. He has been watching any of the canal programs on the History Channel. I will have my wife contact you. Your idea sounds great. He is home schooled, but meets with several families for school day each week and does presentations for them.

Joseph

Our son Cameron has STAR testing the last week of April I believe. He will still do some school work while we are gone, since it we will be traveling all of May. Any Canal books to recommend?

Joseph
I don't know of any books, but I'm sure you ot a few that were posted. I'm going to look for some toddler ones too.
I was given a book today, The Panama Canal, by Bob Considine. Written for the school age child. She discovered that our library is limited in information on the panama canal, so she's going to do some research on kid friendly books.

My daughters teacher has given me the ok to use this report/power point as her may book report. So we are a go.

Maybe we should have a "school" day on the canal day? Whaddaya think? We can do the whole report on canal day up on the deck of the ship. Brainstorming with the kids, taking pictures of the locks. Writing up the presentation on paper? Not too long, but with all the kids participating, we should have the infomation for the report quickly. I'll volunteer to read up about the canal and I'm sure there are other adults who are canal buffs who'd help guide the discussion?

Discuss and post feedback.

S

My daughter is just in 3rd grade but I would like to be in on something like this. Let me know what you might want from others help wise.

All this sounds good. I'm wondering if it might be hard to coordinate? Is there a teacher on aboard???

Lisa, we have a Vitamix blender and one of the things we do is take scraps of fruits leftover from half of an apple and chopped up carrots, extra pineapple etc. and toss it into the freezer then take it out for the drinks. It helps reduce the ice build up and tastes better when it is frozen.
Great tip! Thanks, Lisa
