My husband had knee surgery yesterday. He was in severe pain today but we hope tomorrow will bring a better day. Our three little girls and I are staying in a great motel in Winnipeg. It has a playarea and pool so the girls have been having fun playing.

I would think she would have pain at some point. It has been 9 hours since she was completely awake from the anesthetic, still nothing. :confused3 I think I will give her a pain pill before bed anyway and then set my alarm 4 hours to check on her. Or maybe I should hold off on the narcotic if she does not feel any pain and just give her tylenol then check on her in 4 hours. I'll call DrHug and ask him...... will give me a chance to talk with him again anyway. ;) :lovestruc

Nan, not too sure what is going on, but I put off taking Annie to the Doctor for a hurt shoulder cause I thought she could work though it,,,,

Well, her growth plate was borken in her shoulder.....a lot worse than I could ever have imagined. I wished I had taken her sooner.
Lisa

I know what you mean about the growth plate issue, Wilson broke his leg at 18 months and we watched and worried on that one.

Molly's doctor was not suprised by what happened and told me to follow the same course and get her a brace and be prepared for it to happen again. He wasn't concerned and didn't want me to bring her in unless it happened again. Strangely enough my sister called me tonight while on vacation in Hawaii and told me that her son had the same thing happen a few times...

Continuing prayers for you and your family. Speaking of prayers, my mom's surgeon asked if we would like him to pray with us before surgery. Well, SURE! He prayed for guidance in his work and healing for her. How cool was that!

Very cool indeed. We had my father's heart surgeon offer this too right before his surgery. It gave us all a feeling of peace and well being knowing we all believed that we are in God's hands.

Glad your mom is doing well.:goodvibes

now it is on MSN - he looks horrible...I think, not in any condition to work.

I hope they are using whatever is the best treatment... My Aunts 2nd husband had it and survived for years before losing the battle... I don't think it's AS grave anymore... still serious but not always as quick as it was... We can hope...

I know my surgeon was in God's hands... I'm not a very religious person but I had to have very specialized surgery and I went through over a dozen Drs. before I ended up in Philly with my Dr. He was best in the world at that time and I know that I was in very good hands (he was a hand/upper extremity surgeon...)

Holly - good news with Tyler

John - hang tough, it's the good fight that needs people like you to keep fighting it.

Lisa - I hope you can get some nursing help with Frank, that is a heavy load. Sorry BIL (& Wife) are no support

sorry about the colds around...Paul is feeling rotten too. Got antibotics yesterday, but no relief in sight.

We've got a friends daughter with us over night with THE CHICKEN POX!!!! I got an email from him this morning asking me to call asap, I did and heard that his sister was in the hospital very sick. I asked him when he was coming to see her, and he said he couldn't as he had his daughter with the cpox. No worry bring her here and go see sis. He did and she was very content spending the afternoon with Molly & Wilson. Of course Molly & Wilson are happy to have a friend around. I'm very glad that we work at home and have the flexibility to help out friends when we can. Prayers for Liz to recover. She is in stable condition, but had a ruptered bowel and was septic. Scary...

Going to call it an early night and hit the pile of work on my desk early tomorrow.

Another thing to do tomorrow...find out rotation...nan...do you know which one we are?

Do you mean APL...or drugs :lmao: ? Just kidding. Yes, Kaylee and I are on APL at 8pm. I called DCL to specifically find out what our rotation was, so they do have that info available now.

OK I don't mean to sound stupid but what in the heck is APL? How do you know if you are on it?

DH had very minimal pain with his knee surgery. Just took some tylenol. I think it varies a bit - depending on how much work they needed to do and how much local medication they used to block the knee. Sometimes those medications can stay in your system for 12 hours or so...thus masking the discomfort.

What rotation would put you in Lumineres the most for formal/semi-formal nights? Thanks, Lisa

I think it would be APL would get you Lumineres on Formal night, but would put you in Parrot Cay on Semi formal.

Hello Friends,

It has been a long and trying couple of days. We were back on the ballot for our school levy, and despite getting more votes out than in the six previous losses, the no voters got out more. It is disappointing, and depressing, and I really wonder about my community. We lost by about 1,000 votes out of over 20,000 cast. Parents and teachers worked our rear ends off, and spent thousands of dollars in this effort all for nothing.

The really horrible thing is watching the attack of the no voters in our community, spreading misinformation and lies. You can read the story here, and then read the many nasty comments below:

http://www.cantonrep.com/index.php?ID=402177

I posted this comment in response tonight:

No nasty comments here. You reap what you sow. For all of you who think you have sent some kind of message to Columbus - think again. They could care less. When attacking teachers and the people who care for our children in our community becomes sport, it is indeed a sad day. I doubt that any of you have taken the time to meet these people, to know them, and to show them the care, respect, and love they give to children every day. It is not just your fault, but the fault of every person who puts so little value on education that it is the last thing funded, and not the first. You have not voted negatively on things that affect your well-being, and the services that aid you, and yet you would vote this way when those who have no voice in their future pay the price. My parents taught me differently. They taught me to respect and value teachers and not to insult them. They taught me children come first and it is the duty of each succeeding generation to sacrifice if they must for the future. We will lose good teachers. We will lose what it took generations to create, and the loss will come more quickly than the time it will ever take to regain that loss. I am sad, and I am ashamed - and the negative comments here show the real heart and priorities of many of you.

Hope you are all doing well - I'm having a hard time focusing on a fun vacation when Sophia and kids like her are losing more educational opportunities.

Some of the other comments are scary but exactly why as a society we are in the situation we are currently in. I understand people do not want to lose their houses. I also know without a great education many children of today will never have the opportunity to even buy a home. Hard place to be in for sure being on the school board. Comments like "just let it go" are absurd but hey that's just my opinion.

John, it makes me sad that those who are have no direct current need of a community service chose to make it impossible for those who do need it to be funded. I know that you will keep fighting, as you have a great love of children and so much hope for their future, several of the reasons that make you such a great person.

Pj

I agree! :thumbsup2 Sometimes the RIGHT THING to do is the hardest thing to do. I applaud John for standing up for the children in his community and their educational future even when their own parents will not.

I had the Cpox when I was a baby so when any of the kids in the neighborhood got it... I was allowed to play with them...

Also my SIL used to have her kids go and play with the kids who had it thinking that if her kids were exposed that they'd get it over with... Those kids had immune systems of STEEL!!! I think it took years before they actually got it... :confused3

APL is the dining rotation that they are on...

Animators Pallet
Parrot Cay
Lumieres

It's the first initial of what restaurant you will be in on the first three nights... then it keeps rotating.
