So not to get anyone EXCITED or anything, but here's what the canal looks like from the view I had! P.S. The last one is the video cam tower that you guys were watching when we went through the last locks!

OH WOW! I can't wait to show Tyler in the morning! I hope I can find these by then. It looks impossible for the ship to fit in that tiny opening! Wow!

I can totally see him wearing his pirate costume! I talked to him again about the fish extender gifts and told him Deb & Lisa said they'd like to borrow him to help deliver gifts to everybody and he said, "Sure, I could do that!"

Oh I'm so glad he wants to do it.....with his help, we'll get it done in no time. Awesome! Thanks Tyler!!!

Sophia and I are watching Dirty Jobs, and it is on the Mackinac Bridge. Let me tell you something, if you are claustrophobic, you don't want to work on that maintenance crew - painting inside the bridge tower, where you can barely fit inside (I would NOT fit inside).

One of our local radio talk show guys discussed that episode a while back and he was freaking out over it. I just cringe at the thought! I've never seen that particular episode and don't think I even want to!

Whenever CM's see my binders of pins...they always want those???

Another idea for gifts for CMs!! Give pins you no longer want.

Pin story:
When we cruised with pahrumpgirl in Sept-Oct 2007 we (not pahrumpgirl) had a diningroom server who GREATLY admired a pin worn by one of our tablemates. He gave it to her one evening and she said she would put it on her hostessing lanyard. He was pleased.

The next morning we saw her at Topsiders welcoming guests and handing out hand wipes. She had on a lanyard with 10 pins. She said that CMs can only wear lanyards when they are hostessing and must trade with anyone who asks. They can only have ten pins on the lanyard at a time. That makes it a part of their uniform.

I asked her what she did with the special pin and she said it was the first one to be traded that morning.

I wonder if our tablemate knew that she traded it away and how he felt about it. I thought she wanted it for herself, as a special momento. Nope, she traded it.

So, the last time I saw Tyler was the day before yesterday and I was surprised at how much better he looks and sounds in just 2 days. His voice is now back 100% and he doesn't look like he's about to fall asleep whenever I look at him. His dad said he is still sleeping more than usual, but says his appetite is fully back to normal. Apparently he had a 3 hour nap today (after sleeping in until 9) and still was about to fall asleep on the way home when I picked him up at 5, so I put him to bed early tonight at 7pm. So he's still fighting this off, but is feeling almost himself again! Such a long lasting nasty virus. Glad he's almost better! It was nice to see him laughing today!

RUH ROH!!!!!! I started coughing late tonight. But it seems that if I were going to catch the flu that Tyler had, I would have started symptoms long ago. The sleepiness, yes, but he started with the cough first. But his dad started with the sleepiness first and then the cough came. Well, only time will tell! I feel fine though, so it's probably nothing.

It took a LONG time to get it because it came from Thailand, but it's very pretty and I'm really happy, except it's paper thin, so I'll have to wear something underneath.

Well, maybe not.....depends on how many single men are onboard.

LMAO well that is one of my concerns. I am not sure what to wear under those that would look ok.

OK ladies, for those of you with small children, I learned tonight that a necklace can double as a stuffed animal holder! The green dinosaur and orange dinosaur each have their tails through a ring on the necklace, the brown dino has an arm through a ring, and the hedgehog has his nose through a ring! Tyler was so pleased with his creation, he took a picture:

I am tired of taking care of old grumpy people!! You would think that I have changed most of my entire life and the lives of my children and you would think someone would say Thank you and NOT COMPLAIN.

They are mad that their bodies are letting them down. They are used to being in charge and now they are not even in charge of their own bodies, let alone the house, street or town. They don't have a job, a car, their own keys, their own bathroom.

If they said THANK YOU it would be one more reminder of all they need you to do because they no longer can.

They know you have made a lot of sacrifices for them and that only makes them madder because they DO NOT WANT TO BE A BURDEN.

We talk about our kids thinking they are immortal, but heck, we all think we are immortal and when we crash into our own mortality it makes us mad. We have been having such fun being in charge, being our own boss, playing god that we forget that we have one God and He is in charge whether we like His plans for us or not.

It must be pretty hard to say, "OK, God, I will sit here in a body that does what I do not want it to do and let those I have cared for, nurtured and love beyond measure, do the things for me that make me feel like I am a baby when they and I would rather their lives were continuing without me as an interruption."

Hang in there. They appreciate you. They need you. It is hard for them to accept their reality now.

I saw that one, it gave me the willies and I'm not that claustraphobic

I took Frank to the doctor yesterday....the cardiologist (sp?)

He is anemic (sp?) and they put him on Iron for that. He is carring way to much water in his limbs......they gave him 2 meds for that......but his heart is strong and his oxygen is good.

I counted this morning....he takes 9 pills in the morning and 3 at night.

The driving is now the issue....the Plastic Surgeon (the guy that tied his body back together) said he had to get permission from the cardiologist....the cardiolgist said the heart surgeon must approve the driving....the Heart Surgeon said the Plastic Surgeon had to make that call....

He can not use his left arm at all.....we have an appointment to see a Neurologist in 1 1/2 weeks...we have waited a month for this appointment.

Holly, I am beginning to know how you feel with all the different doctors.

OK, FIRST OF ALL, DO YOU WANT HIM TO DRIVE?

With a left arm that is not working, I think no driving. I do not want anyone driving who cannot get both hands on that wheel EFFECTIVELY!!

I forget how old he is, but should he get a driver's license at all??? Maybe you can bribe one of these MDs to insist he not drive any more? It is always easier on the family if one of the MDs plays "bad cop" unless, of course, you really know a "bad cop."
