My sister truely is claustrophobic. She was locked in one of those old refrigerators when she was just over two...she was playing. Luckily my mom and grandma found her in time. But, she has real difficulty riding in elevators, etc. We had inside staterooms in Dec and she brought a small fan that she clipped on the cupboard door. The air flow helped her from feeling panicky. She has been in enclosed spaces before and found this helped.
Thanks for posting this! I'll bring one for sure. Never thought of that before. Well, I've never had an inside room before either, so I'll definitely do this. :goodvibes

I wasn't planning on getting out of my pajamas today, but just realized I have a couple errands that need to be addressed today. So.....off I go for a bit. I suppose the fresh air will do me good, instead of just looking at the sun through the windows.

But.....John1? Do you ever watch "According to Jim" on ABC? I just finished watching the funniest episode ever! His wife is away and he has to deal with an issue with his daughters. It's the most recent episode. If you have a chance, I strongly recommend it! You'll see what's in store for you in a couple years! :rotfl2:

after reading all the mom stories I'm even more grateful for the mom I got. She's wonderful, my best friend, never really judgemental, always supportive and strong. So:hug: for all you guys with insensitive moms.

If you each let The SISTERHOOD OF THIEVES know the websites for your wares, you might have some ORDERS to DELIVER on the SHIP!

Hmmm--$$$ for DODs or excursions.....

Jan :earsgirl:

Hi,

I'm glad Holly gave her site! My website is: www.cookielee.biz/laurielanders! The catalog is available to view on it! But to actually order you would need to send me a PM or e-mail!!!!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!! We're actually enjoying the sun and the high 40's here!!! We still have snow but it's starting to melt!! Yay!!!!

Don't you just LOVE the DIS!!! I cannot count the tips I have gotten here that have just helped so much. Glad this was brought up, and really GLAD my sis and mom went with us in Dec, and I'm glad I asked why they had the fan in their room instead of just lowering the temp!:thumbsup2

I think sending your own is a good idea, tho I understand why it won't work for Marilyn.

She is a very nice lady and very helpful but we ordered from Shirley two cruises ago and honestly thought it was a lot of money for what we got. Last time we just drove by CVS and got sand toys the night before (and then I think forgot to take them off on the shore days) that was the cruise that had to skip CC. It was also halloween, so any extra candy was overkill.

I did the same thing. I ordered one from Shirley also for Jamie's birthday cruise last year when she turned 15. I thought it was a lot of money for what we got also. What I did last cruise was I ran to the room and had pre-made a card from Mickey and it had a charm bracelet and then each night while Jamie was in the Teen Loft I put a charm on her pillow from "Mickey" so when she came in at 2 a.m. each night she looked on her pillow before going to bed. Mickey told her in the card with the bracelet to look on her pillow each night for a gift to go with the theme for the day. It was alot of fun and I didn't spend anywhere near what I did for the basket!

 :scared1: Oh My!! MIL was like that with everyone. We went to visit when oldest DD was 16 and her first comment to her was "you've gained weight, haven't you?" This is not our thin DD, but one that struggles to keep her weight down. But at that time she was very active, a cheer leader and in no way over weight. Anyway, Grandma might just have well have reached over and slapped her in the face. I found her in the bedroom later crying. Had to take her for a drive and tell her Grandma is just a jealous person and it is her not you. :sad2:

MIL did this to my yougest - then at 13 years - in fact Feb 24th of 2007 - I signed her up at 24 Hr - got her some training sessions - (she was having a rough time with the 8th grade girls then - you know rough age and all - their into boys big time) so anyway, right from the start - trainer taught her nutrition and within 90 days - this girl had gone from 173 down to 145. Then yesterday she weighed herself and turns out that she is down to 140 but this girl immersed herself into sports once she started high school.

MIL and FIL live in CO for 1/2 the year. They left just as DD started going to the gym. When they returned in Nov of '07 - you should have seen MIL's look of shock! :scared1: MIL is a sweetheart to my kids but she and I "are from 2 different worlds." Her words not mine - It was so hilarious because this woman berated me for frivously spending $$ on something that you can achieve on your own.

My revenge? Found out later that she went and signed herself up at the gym (which I'd been telling her to do for years) AND hired onto the same trainer we used.

This more than makes up for the fact that she has her own weight issues and see "vertically-challenged" people as the incentive for her to lose weight - whatever that means. My philosophy? As long as your nice to my kids and don't talk about losing weight to them - your ok.

On our last cruise I took a lanyard of pins that I no longer cared a lot about. There was one 11 year old girl at our dinner table. She and her mother were from Mexico, knew limited English but did their best to communicate with us. I asked her if she was going to get some pins and she said her Mother said they were too expensive. I put a lanyard over hear head and transferred my expendable pins to her lanyard. The look on her face was PRICELESS.

OMG! What a wonderful idea! I too have a bunch of "expendable pins" thanks for the idea Jan! :thumbsup2

I've come across many a kid on my sails that soon become "bitten" by the pin bug and the poor parents end up buying several to trade. Course, not sure how the parents would love me after. :rotfl2:

For all the new folks, and any others who didn't know this, we are a prime example of the good luck that can happen regarding seating assignments on DCL! Tyler and I were assigned to the same table as Heather & family in Sept. '05. We hit it off so well we booked the same time the following year together and have visited a couple times in between there too.

Wow - sounds like me - in Sep of '06, went on the 11-Night SC - sat at a table of 14, turns out that I hit it off with 2 women at the table - and one sat way at the other end of the table. But since then, DisneySweetie and I have communicated almost everyday. Heck I even went to FL in May of last year - Mother's Day weekend to spend time with her and some other friends and we ended up doing the EB Trans-Atlantic together. Our "first girl outing together."

So yes people - pixiedust: does happen. And I can only give DIS the credit - had it not been for this board - I would probably not have meet them or stayed as friendly with them. Pam and my motto? Two Peas in a Pod are as thick as thieves! :thumbsup2

OK.....here's Bobby's tentative itinerary: Headed to FL to visit Heather & family next, then after that he'd like to visit V & family! :thumbsup2 So Heather, just PM John with your address and he's happy to send you the "non-leaking" Bobby and I'll send you his suitcase (you know I have your address). Then you can send Bobby and his suitcase on to V next. [/QUO

Well I know CPR so im not afraid of the leaking one LOL

I will PM john and I pinky swear I wont let him become a frozen banana treat at disney :thumbsup2

Do you sit at the same place each night for dinner or who ever gets there first they choose where they sit? Last cruise we usually tried to give the tablemates the better view because we had been there before. I want to do the proper thing.

I never actually thought about it but we did sit in the same seats for our 4 night cruise. It might be nice to change seats sometimes.

You know - I've always wondered this too and never saw your viewpoint before - at our table of 14 we always ended up being near about the same spots. Seems that more of us at the table were creatures of habit and the only one that seemed to "wander" was not a very well liked creature.

But your right - I usually don't wander and stay in the spot that is either picked for me or if I get there first - which I try to do the first night - I pick the spot and don't wander. My only peeve? I hate to have my back to "a door" or entry so I try and face it or a window - except for Parrot Cay - there I have to sit with my back to the window - I think its all those colors! Is that totally un-DCL like? :sad2:

I love the charm bracelet idea. Mom, are you reading this!!!!!!! Oh yeah she isn't going this cruise. Darn it!

Next post is 6000, wow, will have to save it for a good one.

YES! Difficulty with elevators, unless they're glass elevators. It's gotten worse the past 2 years for some reason. I almost lost control on the Atlantis submarine last year, even though it has windows.....that one was more KNOWING we're way down under the water and therefore still confined. Was doing lots of deep breating, with my eyes closed so I could try to pretend I was elsewhere. The people around me kept asking if I was OK. :scared1: I just said I had a really bad headache to avoid freaking out Tyler.

Well, then that's not a good thing!!! You should really have a talk with your doctor for sure...and I see know reason given your previous experiences that he wouldn't give it to you. An if he doesn't give it to you...get another doctor! :lmao:

If you happen to have any extra maps of the theme parks could you please bring them to me on the ship so I won't be so lost. I'm only going to be there for a couple of days and I will be trying to get in as much as we can. I do not need maps of Disney World, been there many times.

Also has anyone ever been on one of the Hollywood tours?

We didn't - I never thought about it, but I think we just sat wherever each night. Sometimes we were the last ones there, sometimes we were the first. No rhyme nor reason to where we sat.

I LOVE this idea! Unfortunately my dd (13) isn't into charm bracelets at all. I'd love to do something like this for my ds (16)also. Anyone have any other fun ideas for something "collectible" that we could arrange to magically appear on their pillows each night of the cruise?

Has anyone heard from Laura/AuntyBrat? I'm curious if she is still coming w/ us and how she's doing. :confused3

I sent another email off to Ivanova last week(her friend and TA) but she hasn't replied yet. It looks like she too isn't posting any more. I'm hoping she lurks a bit and will catch the PM. It was early December when she replied last time.

I guess if she is still coming along she will be quiet and not joining in.
