II wonder sometimes if the pain ever goes away...
I doubt the pain will go away, but it will numb and the tears will stop when you get to the point that you can accpet what is and finish your grieving. The problem is, you can't finsish grieving because the scab keeps getting pulled off, dirt rubbed in the wound and it becomes infected again.

My father chose his life 29 years ago - the work I am doing will basically get me set up financially for my future. I have to make my own life now.

This is what you need to hold onto. You can make your own way and yes, he was the adult in the situation and he chose the course.

However... funeral at sea with fruity drinks... (I know - I'm bad but I need to laugh a bit...)

And THIS great sense of humor you have is what has and will get you through! I'll have one of those fruity drinks with you!!

Please tell me if I am stepping over the line. You are stricking some cords with me.

Sophia was excited about getting to stay up tonight with no school tomorrow. I swear the girl wants to stay up until dawn. Now she is saying she is hungry. I need to get that girl to bed soon.

Better you than me, John! Good luck with getting her to sleep. I am guessing that you have had some of the white stuff that way. We are finally down in the 30/40 range but not sure how long that will last. It has been very weird here. It is in the 30s in the am when the kids go to school but in the 70s when they get out. Very frustrating!

John1, I think it really was a blessing that both you and Sophia were home the first week Amy was gone. That special time with Daddy probably has made the distance from Mom more bearable. Back to the routine next week.

Oh man!! You have had a tough week! :grouphug: You do not need to loose weight unless you are at a weight that is unhealthy, or keeps you from doing things you want to do. My pet peeve, you are not loveable unless you fit a certain mold. NOT!! We have a DD that gets comments that she is too thin! No, she isn't, she is built that way, straight as a stick no...um, no need for a bra I guess is the DIS way to say it, but she eats alot, has no eating disorder. We are built the way we are and we are all beautiful!! Sorry, off my soapbox now.

Amen sister!

Yup, right on Angie. She misses mom, but is getting more of dad, so it is bearable I guess. One more week from tomorrow until Mom gets home.

Well, midnight, and I am ready to turn into a pumpkin. I am telling Sophia it is bed time. Good night everyone.

Anyone have info on rental car options in California now that I am ready to deal with that?

Jan :earsgirl:

Budget is only about 6 miles from the port. You'll have to take a cab but if you're doing a two day or more rental from them they'll give you $15 back for the cab. That's where we're renting from to drive home.

I think it was posted in the first thread. Nan altered a heart shaped valentine candy box and put pictures inside cupcake wrappers to look like candies inside. Not the best description.

Nan - can you re-post the pictures?

Again? I allready did, ya don't have to ask me twice to see the pictures of my kids :lmao:

I am so tired. I am going to bed.

Taking Frank to the heart doctor tomorrow.
Goodnight all!!
Lisa

Tell Frank we all said hello!!!

What would be the point of poker without money?:rotfl:

(This is sad we are typing to each other when you are upstairs.):rolleyes1

Why??? MrsMork and DrHug do it so lovingly from the same room!!! I think that is SO romantic!!!

Can you take someone with you? Perhaps the others would be polite if you had a "stranger" along?

Where is the event likely to be? I'm in Indy, if it was here, I would go with you.

If it is near where you live now, I would wish I still lived in Petersburgh and then I could go with you, but that is were we lived 4 houses and 20+ years ago.

Jan :earsgirl:

Jan...I'd love for you to go. I emailed my best friend from growing up and hopefully he will go with me. He lives in VA where they live....

PTFD....
Post Traumatic :fish: Disorder!!![/QUOTE

Maybe if we can't have our Mickey fish t-shirts...Would we get in trouble for
PTFD survivor shirts with a single fish on it?? :thumbsup2 Oh course, it might offend someone who has PTSD , wouldn't want to do that either.

I have had PTSD (from an accident) and I am not offended... I came up with the fishy PTSD to begin with!!!

Jan, that is so sweet and such good advise. Take a friend when the time comes.

I'm not sure about the friend, but I'm thinking as long as nobody objects, maybe we'll play poker in the back...(this board is SUCH a bad influence on me...)

Hmmmm.....speaking of jewelry, I wonder if I should bring my display jewelry on the cruise, people could borrow if needed (with some sort of sign out sheet), and I could do a jewelry show on a sea day. Could be fun trying on jewelry at sea! :thumbsup2

GREAT IDEA!!!

Someone told me recently:

KIN is who we are stuck with by the accident of our birth:confused3
FAMILY are the ones we choose to share our lives with:grouphug:

Jan :earsgirl:

Sometimes you want to throw KIN off the island...

I always said...I'd love to take a Disney Cruise with my family...only they are going on the Wonder and I'm going on the Magic...

Angie... I do have to lose weight and I hope to get to it very soon - but for my health and not my looks. It hurts to see myself in pictures sometimes, but I have to remember that I want to do it for me and not anyone else...

How big is the hard drive? I have 2,466 songs on my Macbook.

I told them to get the largest hard drive they have...(I do research for a living and I need storage space until I can get the reports done and out...

no, but I'm the keeper of the remote, so when I'm done I click it off and DH follows me to bed. If I waited for him, we've go too early or too late :lmao:

I sleep alone, but I swear my teddy bear turns the darned thing on in the middle of the night to watch informercials...

& no...his pedegg hasn't arrived either...

And THIS great sense of humor you have is what has and will get you through! I'll have one of those fruity drinks with you!!

Please tell me if I am stepping over the line. You are stricking some cords with me.

Angie... If I stopped laughing, I swear I'd sit down in the middle of the floor and cry.

Amen sister!

Thank ya, thank ya very much.

& pass the plate ladies... we must pay for those drinks somehow...

Yup, right on Angie. She misses mom, but is getting more of dad, so it is bearable I guess. One more week from tomorrow until Mom gets home.

John... she won't realize it now... but she will remember this time with her dad forever!!! :goodvibes

Well, midnight, and I am ready to turn into a pumpkin. I am telling Sophia it is bed time. Good night everyone.

But she was going to stay up late and watch reruns of Caddyshack!!!

I just love that Gopher!!!

DrHug should be on his way home now. Looks like I will be able to stay up and give him a big ol' Valentine smooch! I'm gonna tell him John was making fun of his shoes too! :lmao:
Reminds me of a story! He used to wear Hush Puppies, the ones that were slip on. The flap on the top would flip up sometimes and our girls (young teen and pre teen at the time) called them his nerd shoes! :lmao: We were in Idaho with friends who had a nice boat. Our friend pulled the boat up on a beach on the lake. The bow was quite high off the beach and DrHug was standing up there. He noticed his shoe flipped up and for some unknown reason he yelled "Nerd Shoe!":confused3 getting the attention of everyone on the shore (including manly young men and lovely young ladies) and then slipped and launched himself over the railing, scraping the hair off his shin on the way (left a little furrow of hair on the rail), and landed right on his chest on the ground! :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: Lucky he did not kill himself!! :rotfl: He was limping for awhile! We of course have had many laughs at his expense! :rotfl: :rotfl2: This was 25 years or so ago and the kids will still every once in a while say Nerd Shoe!! and laugh!

ok, where in texas are your twins? (and you?)

My husband and I lived in Plano, TX, and my daughters were born there in Dec. 2000 and shortly later my husband passed away! So my daughters and I moved to Bend, OR where my family is!! And we're glad we're back in the mountains! That was the main thing I missed when we were in TX!!! But now I miss the warm weather and wonderful shopping and restaurants!!! We're hoping to get back to visit before long!!!

Never made it to Houston, except the airport on SWA!! I hear it's lovely though!!! Hope to meet you!!!

Apologize in advance for the post and run...

I cleaned out a few PM so if anyone would like to PM me to join the fish extender teams, please feel free. I will be working on the teams in the next few days. I'll try to read back to see what people thought about my March 1 deadline - or if one of the "regulars" could PM me or email if you have it with the thoughts on that that would help a lot.

I think the speed of the thread and my total inability to manage my time will make it harder and harder for me to keep up. So please make sure to PM me - and I will consider adding my email to PJs website - if you need to get a hold of me. Once the teams are finalized, we should be good to go. Any my team - we need to order!

SO GLAD to be coming on this cruise!!!!
Night all,
Lisa

You are our almost neighbor! And I was born in Texas too!

So sorry to hear you lost your husband. Glad your girls are close to your family!

Hi!

What jewelry do you sell? I'm an Executive Director 1 with Cookie Lee jewelry! Isn't it fun!!! Can't wait to hear from you!!! Maybe we could do something together? Just a thought!!!

I have to call it an early night too. I woke up at 4:30am with a mirgraine. Treated it with meds & sleep 3 times until noon. Then I got up and I've been feeling crappy the rest of the day. Bed and I hope sleep will knock it off.

Happy Valentines Day

Small world, I lived in Houston from ages 6 - 11.

I too am sorry to hear about your husband, that must have been so difficult. Nice to see you moved closer to family, that helps.
