Typing w/one hand so o typo jokes please! He wants me to rub his back and not talk to him. I had prepared couch for him B4 he got here & thats right where he headed. Lots of his animals were waiting there to comfort him. Told me he wants to take a nap b4 eating. Goodness, hes wheezy! Never heard that b4.

OK...2 hands now...told me that's bothering him. LOL! Coughed so much he lost his voice. They said he also has ear infections in each ear behind all that fluid.

Holly sounds like the flu bug to me. You can alternate tylenol and motrin to bring his fever down. plenty of liquids. Treat the symptoms is about all you can do for flu.

That's exactly what I told his dad when he was complaining about having to sit at the hospital for 6 hours. I told him that's what I've heard to do in the past and he told me he didn't know and that the on-call doc told him to take him in.

But when he dropped him off, he told me they told him exactly what I told him (and what you posted). He should have called Dr. Mom first! LOL!

Liquids will be the hard part because I usually have difficulty getting him to drink normally, but will insist tonight. Bought pedialyte, so that should help too.

this is crazy sounding but worked for Haley - she was coughing through the night keeping everyone up....I slathered Vicks vapor rub on her feet and covered them in socks and it stopped her coughing.

Hey hey hey now. I have to object. "Knockoffs" my foot.

M & M's are the knock offs as the UK (and Canadian) Smarties were developed first. Smarties were developed in 1937 by Rowntree. M & M's were first sold in 1941.

A few facts:

M&M's are approximately 1 cm in size.
Smarties are 1.5cm

M&M's are slightly fatter than Smarties

Smarties have a candy shell that have a flavour, whereas M&M's do not have a flavour to them.

And let's not forget the great Smartie jingle:
"When you eat your Smarties, Do you eat the red ones last? Do you suck them very slowly, Or crunch them very fast? Eat that candy-coated chocolate,But tell me when I ask, When you eat your Smarties, Do you eat the red ones last?"

But you know about the Green M&M's don't you????

I was up Marilyn, but too busy to DIS.

BTW, Amy arrived in Manilla safe and sound, but says she did not sleep the whole way over, and is a bit stressed. I told her she needs to get some sleep. We also found out that she was wrong about the time difference - 14 hours instead of 12.

Glad to know she's safe and sound!!!

Holly, this is the respiratory influenza. The one they give flu shots for. Chicken soup will be really good for him, but if you can make it from scratch it is better. Boil chicken, shred it, put it back in the broth and add carrots, onions, some celery,(all chopped) salt, pepper and a bit of garlic. Add some noodles or rice. There have been studies done that this old wives remedy really is helpful.

Unfortunately, I didn't read this on time to make a trip to the store, so we'll have to settle for Campbells from the can. He usualy won't eat soup, but I'm sure going to try!

I think traffic!!!

Heck I have lived in both SoCal and NorCal bay area and traffic is a given! I have to say though sometimes the SoCal traffic was bumper to bumper and still going 80 mph so that is at least better then horrible stop in go traffic. Living where I have though I have grown up with bad traffic and known nothing else and it really doesn't bother me oddly enough.

The Smarties one always bugs my mother. She is a Canadian who is now living in the US. Our Smarties are the ones in the link above, however, what she gets when she asks for Smarties are what we call "Rockets".

So now it begs the question - which "smarties" does Holly love?
