May 10, 2008 New Ship Of Thieves...May 2008 Repo Thread...Part 3

Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself as I just signed up to this board.
This will be the third time that my sons and I have sailed on the magic. First was on the last west coast visit, then the Eastbound TA, and now we are looking forward to the Westbound PC trip. I just put down the final payment yesterday so I am now starting to plan the trip for real! What will make this trip much more memorable will be that my sons and I will be doing it without any other family members on board this time and without a girlfriend in tow. I paid for the GF's TA trip and when she got back, she said she could not take living with my sons anymore and split. (her loss) I guess I will just have to explore the "singles" lunches this time on board. Both my sons are moderate to severely developmentally delayed and have autism. Those on the EB TA may remember them as the two biggest kids (now 23 & 21) in the Oceaneer Lab running around with the 12year olds and having a blast. With luck the captain will allow them to join the other kids again and I can have some time to relax too. If not, then we will be doing a lot of walking while at sea. If anyone hears that they are dropping the "3rd in the room" price like they did on the TA, please let me know.

Look forward to meeting everyone, hopefully before the sailing date, but if not then on board.

Welcome. I hope you can work out having your sons join in the fun in the Oceaneer Lab. We have an extra member of our family every Sunday as we take a developmentally delayed young man (age 21) to church with us each week. DS10 is quite comfortable around our pal Alex, so hopefully he can make friends with your two sons as well if they end up in the same age-group at the lab. As John1 says, I'm making a "stale" post (which means I'm responding to stuff that has probably already been covered). But anyway, make sure you send a pm to Pjpoohbear. She will give you the login info. for our secure website, which has all the info. for this cruise. She also has a great calendar that you can access by clicking on her signature.

Welcome Tracy! Just me in my little Cat 11 cave (well, maybe....I'm still in the lifeboat right now!) This will be my 4th Disney cruise. I've done a 4, 7 and 3 day and am REALLY looking forward to two weeks on the ship!

Welcome Steve and sons. Are we going to have any luck dragging you three 'boys' on to the dance floor? There are several unattached woman, of a variety of ages, who will be looking for dance partners.

(actually, every time I've been to the clubs, everyone just gets up and dances, whether they have a partner or not!)

OK...off to get some breakfast. We are going to have BEAUTIFUL weather here in the Valley of the Sun this weekend, so I'm thinking a little yard work will be in order (lots of weeds after all this rain). Want to have next weekend free for a visit to the Arabian horse show...if sister still wants to go.

Hi Jackie.....just wanted to know how Peg was doing after losing Marquis? Is she ok? Give her our hugs and lots of love. Tell her to get a new baby horse and that will keep her so busy she won't have time for tears!

I just finished loading the dishwasher myself. I have to do everything at night as getting out of bed is the hardest thing I do every day!

Tomorrow is Darrell's birthday. We are going to the zoo at 8am to see the new Grizzly cubs they have. Not sure what else we'll do tomorrow. Probably eat out somewhere.

I just scanned though 20 pages looking to see if CALMOM PIF....I did not see anything. I can not stand the suspense.....I really want them to come!!

Lisa, calmom first said that DH said no and they were about to cancel when she came back on and said DH said yes......that's the last we heard before she had to go to MN for her grandmother's services. At this point it's a GO, but not sure if she is PIF yet. Hopefully so and that she can get online tonight to book ressies.

We need all of our family together!

Welcome Steve. I am traveling with DH. This is our second DCL cruise. We also did one of the Mexican cruises in June 05. Looking forward to meeting you and you boys.

Reading our newspaper today, there was an article about two young men in our town who are currently serving in the Peace Corps in Panama City, Panama. Periodically, they report about their experiences. I thought you might find this one interesting:

“A little boy lost a tooth this week. I asked him what he did with his tooth. He threw it on the roof. Apparently, the tooth fairy equivalent here is Ratoncito. After asking around, I discovered every house has a Ratoncito. He’s basically a little mouse with great big ears that he uses to fly, Dumbo style. They say he’s kind of a burnt-orange color and only comes out at night.

When you lose a tooth you sing this song and throw the tooth on the roof. “Ratoncito, Ratoncito take my little tooth and leave me a new big tooth.” This rhymes in Spanish. After their explanation, I told them that in the United States, the tooth fairy takes your tooth from under your pillow and leaves a gift. The locals thought this was hilarious and stupid. Like flying mice make perfect sense. “

I'm not booking too much tonight.

First priority: Palo Brunch (I need to pick 1st, 2nd, 3rd choice dates)
Second priority: Palo dinner (ditto on picking dates)
Third priority: America's Cup sailing in Cabo. Only DH & DS10 are doing this. I don't think it will fill up.

No other excursions for us. We will be doing everything else on our own. Less $, and so many of the excursions we might have been interested in doing with DCL won't allow DS7. We're doing zipline in PV on our own because their age limit is 6. Aruba will be a beach day. We might get a room at the Hyatt there if they don't charge too many points (DH is Diamond level with them, so we have lots of points, but don't want to waste them with a dayroom if they're going to charge too much.) I haven't decided what to do in Acapulco. We're not very interested in seeing Acapulco, but after several days at sea, I know we will want to get off the ship.

V-What are you guys doing in Acapulco? I think you said you were doing your excursions on your own as well. I'm looking for ideas.

All those who can't book until 75 days out, remember that DCL releases more openings for excursions, spa, Palo, etc. at the 75 day mark so that you don't get shut out. But waiting is heck.

Would you care to share the zip line info with me? I also wanted to that but our youngest is 7, too young for Disney's. Honestly, the zip line has been something we have talked about since we very first booked this cruise last January.

Good morning everyone!! Today is the day (okay tonight!!)

We are excited to start actually booking our excursions. We have picked several for each port ... so I am prepared to miss out on some of our favorites. We really just want to spend time on the MAGIC

We were on the inaugural PC crossing (thought it was a "once in a lifetime experience") ... and now are very excited to be going again

Nothing is better than have 2 weeks with my family, exploring new places and having a great time. Add to that our DIS family (old and new friends), our DCL family (favorite servers and crew) ... we are all going to have such a great vacation!!

I just "read" during the week ... can barely keep up with the reading, never mind posting. But I will be alternating treadmill time and DIS with some end of week Logic and Latin (we did not finish all of our school this week, due to a million things going on).

I need to catch up on the last 10 or so pages ... I'll be back!!

I have never tried the CROCs so I don't see what the fuss is all about. Am I really missing out here guys?? I think they look kinda weird

I am trying to think of a special gift to bring to our favorite servers and cruise staff. So far ... nothing!! What comes to mind when you guys think of SoCal?

Well thanks! Okay, does anyone know what the schedule of themed nights is going to be on this trip? Please forgive me if I'm re-hashing old territory! I'm trying to figure out when to book our Palo reservation and I don't want to miss anything special! (I know, along with everyone else!)
