Hi Experts! I can't seem to find a board with basics of Maxpass. We have decided to try it out for our April trip and I have a couple of questions.

We are frequent DLR visitors and have always made good use of "legacy" FPs. I'm assuming the Maxpass works the same way, but the fact that they can be done online makes me wonder...

1- Do you have to be in the park to get the Maxpass FP? Specifically can we get a Maxpass FP for a DLR ride when we're in DCA?

2-Can the Maxpass FP's be connected to everyone in your party like the ones at WDW? In other words can one person get Maxpass FP's for everyone or do we each have to make our own Maxpass FP's separately like we would if we were using paper FP's?

3-In cases where you can normally get 2 paper FP's at the same time (like World of Color and something else), can you get 2 Maxpass FP's at the same time also?

Thanks! I'm looking forward to seeing whether we think it's worth the cost...

1- Do you have to be in the park to get the Maxpass FP? Specifically can we get a Maxpass FP for a DLR ride when we're in DCA? Yes, you just have to scan your ticket at a park before you can use MaxPass. You can be in DCA and pull a FP in FP.

2-Can the Maxpass FP's be connected to everyone in your party like the ones at WDW? In other words can one person get Maxpass FP's for everyone or do we each have to make our own Maxpass FP's separately like we would if we were using paper FP's? Yes, you can link everyone's ticket to your account to make FP selections.

3-In cases where you can normally get 2 paper FP's at the same time (like World of Color and something else), can you get 2 Maxpass FP's at the same time also? Yes, you can. The MaxPass will tell you when the next window to pull another pass. It was usually after the start of the FP or 2 hrs, whichever was sooner. However, if you get a FP within the hour, it's a minimum of 30mins between FPs.

You have to be scannned in but yes if you have hoppers you can book for DCA in DL and vise versa.

Yes one person can do it for everyone!

World of color and fantasmic are paper only and not connected to your ability to get any other fast passes.

Correction on the above: the max time between FP pulls with MP is 1h30m. Not 2 hours as it is with standard FP pulled from the kiosk.

However, if you have bought MP, even pulling from the kiosk will still be 1h30m max between FP pulls.

Show FPs (WOC, F!, etc) must still be obtained via kiosk (cannot be obtained via MP) and do not count against your FP pull like they do at WDW. Show FPs are not the same as ride FPs. The parks are connected, though, as are all rides. No ride is off grid anymore sadly and no more double dipping on FPs at both parks.

MP is Legacy FP made digital with only a few tweaks:
You can book without going to the ride kiosk.
Once you scanned into either park, you can book anywhere (I've been able to book halfway home to the SF Bay Area).
The max wait time between FP pulls is 1h30m instead of 2h. This applies booking digitally and pulling from a kiosk.
You cannot pull a show FP.
You can release a FP on MP you won't use and it can be picked up by someone else using MP.

Just adding a quick question onto this! We have a breakfast reservation in GCH and are staying there ... it's right after park opening so if we just stop into the park quick and then head back out I could make our first MP reservation for after our breakfast as long as we all scan into the parks?

Yes. I sometimes walk in through Downtown Disney. When I do this I will scan in at the monorail entrance to activate my Max Pass for the day and will walk back out and continue on down to the main entrance.

Yes, scan in at the DCA entrance at the hotel then walk back out. The entrance is near to Storytellers anyway.

Awesome, thanks for the advice everyone! I remember it being really close so I figured we could show up just a little early and do that quick. Perfect!

Once you scan into the park the first day, can you add Maxpass to your whole trip? I have 3 day park hoppers from LMT and I'm hoping to only go through the hassle once.

I'm no expert.
Here's a thread "lcp9" posted to with MP info. Read lcp9's post #2, it has some specific detail that might help you get started using MP.

It's no hassle. Seriously. It takes about ten seconds if you already have a credit card associated with your profile.

If we are there for 5 days with hoppers, do we really need maxpass? Seems like an expense that could add a lot to total trip.

Maxpass is new and people got by just fine before it existed, so no, you don't need it. The old FP system is still in place and it's free. MP saves a lot of time though since you don't have to criss-cross the park as much retrieving and using FP.

If you're going to buy photopass anyway, be sure to factor that into the price consideration. Also remember that you don't have to purchase MP for every day of the trip. You could spend one or two days focusing on FP rides and then spend another couple days focusing on all the rides and shows and other experiences that don't benefit from having MP.

Oohhh...nice tip!

I've booked MP FPs from our Harbor hotel when we've gone back for an afternoon break.

You might consider adding it for one day of your trip and hitting a lot of rides with FP that day. That would not add the full expense of having it for 5 days, but you could still enjoy some of the benefits. You can also add it to just one person for the Photopass benefits on any day you might want pictures!

Can the tickets be linked to more than one account? I am going with 4 friends and none of them have ever been to Disney. They want me to do all th FP stuff so we were going to link the tickets to my account. Since we have to add MP every day, can they also link their ticket to their account so that they can pay for the MP themselves or do I have to do all the adding/paying of MP every day and have them pay me back?

Thanks, I'll get that set up before we go. Does the DLR app link parties like the WDW one does? I have a ticket for my wife and myself and I'm not sure if I should scan both of out tickets into my app or each scan our own. If we each scan our own ticket, can we still buy or make Maxpasses as a group from a single app?
