MaxPass question

So, I am going Monday with 2 friends that have AP's. It's supposed to be super hot, and I think we should do MaxPass. How does that work though, with linking things? Neither of them have ever used MaxPass and are not planning on adding it to their AP's, since they mostly do little kid rides with their families. So we would have two AP's and my one-day ticket. Would we just each manage our MaxPasses separately, or is there an easy way to link it for the day? And can I add my card information to my account beforehand, or do I do it -as- I'm adding Maxpass? Or can I buy the Maxpass add on when I buy my ticket today and then link my ticket to one of their accounts? I hate not fulling understanding how this works...

I used MP a little on my last trip. When I go for the day Dec 12th I plan to use it to the fullest. I'll only have about 6 hours in the parks that day,
