Maximum rooms allowed a discount?

I reserved 3 GV CL rooms at the Poly for May 2018. If a discount comes out for my room type, can it only be applied to one of the rooms in my reservation?

For a general public discount, they will only put a certain amount of rooms in the discount inventory. If there are 3 rooms in your category with availability under the discount, then, yes, you will be able to get discounts on all three.

What ^^^^ said above. You want to be "on the ball" when they announce discounts for that time period so study up on historical release dates/time frames and start following threads on here closer to the date.

I'd want to be calling/changing my reservation online the day they come out just to be safe.

Poly CL GV rooms will oftentimes (not always) book faster than the other CL view categories because they are materially cheaper. This impacts everything from how many rooms are available at a discount if one is offered, to how quickly you need to act when they do.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I will watch discount threads and sign up for a Disney CC. Other than that is there anything else I should do? Not interested in AP. I hooked rooms myself but a TA said she would "watch" for discounts but not depending on her.

We have not gotten advanced bookings last couple big discounts :sad1: so if you are getting just for that you might be disappointed.

I seem to remember when the May 2017 discounts came out Disney CC holders had a couple days notice from the general public. But I could be mistaken. If we can get anything less than rack rate I'll be happy.

Just looked and the discounts were 2 days early for Disney Visa last September for Winter/Early Spring 2017, same in 2016. Not sure those discounts are the ones folks rush and book day one so still not sure I see a huge advantage and doesn't look like May was included.

The Free Dining Discounts which is where the Disney Visa was always such a huge plus ... advantage gone the last two years.

Now for May discounts .... in 2016 looks like Visa discounts released in Dec 2015 for Villa resorts, and for 2017, nothing has been released.

It's also worth keeping in mind that there are a total of 52 GV CL rooms at Poly. They will only discount as many as they think will need to have discounts applied to keep them at 90%+ occupancy. The three you have already booked will be taken out of that equation, because they are already full.

So by booking now, you do guarantee the room (at rack rate) but reduce your odds of a discount.

I do realize that, but I'm not willing to wait it out and take a chance that GV CL is full for my dates...especially when I need 3 rooms. I sure hope not to have to pay the rack rate, but if I do, I do.

Hey, also just wanted to say that I love Poly CL BTW. I may or may not have stayed there once or twice at the rack rate (shhhh, don't tell anyone, not my proudest WDW moments).

FWIW, I was curious and I looked at this May. I could still book the general public discount today for the second and third week of May... not the first and fourth (I searched Saturday-Saturday).

Things change all the time of course but I think you'll 'probably' be ok with getting a discount, so long as you stay on top of it.

If all else fails, maybe see what the TPV or LV rooms look like with a discount compared to your rack rate GV room.

You have a long time to plan/prepare, good luck!

Thanks DisneyDad, we are going the first full week in May so fingers crossed that we can get a discount. I'm avoiding the TPV because I also want ground floor and I think that would lessen my chances. I want it all LOL!

Ok, don't kill me, I mistyped on my other post. It was the "first" and fourth week I didn't see discount available when I just searched.

But next year is totally different, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

FYI, LV is the better chance at ground floor. TPV is more 2nd and 3rd floor.
