Maximum length of stay?

I only ask that you leave a few french fries on your plate when you throw it in the trash can.

We now have been at the Fort for 7 mo. 14 days. We have to get a new Res. evey 30 days and have never been told to leave.

Has anyone ever actually done this? I mean stayed as long as they could?

I stay as long as I can every time I go, unfortunately that only adds up to about 2 weeks!

Like Jim, I spent a little time this last trip thinking about where I could live as a vagrant on Disney property. I found a nice little glade in the woods between 700, the Settlement Depot and the old rail line... a great place to set up a ghillied tent. It's not real close to the comfort station, but not too bad... and there's always some bits to add to my Frankensoap. I figure between my refillable mug and sampling unattended crock pots I'd have enough sustenance. I would also feel I was doing my 'fellow campers' a service by lightening the coolers of some of the more obnoxious party people. I haven't figured out how to enjoy the theme parks for free yet, so I'm open to ideas!

And don't forget, Brian usually has a big jug o' margaritas set up outside the TT next to the ice machine. ;)

As for the parks, what CM would risk the naughty list by not letting Santa in?? :santa:

So you are back?? Did you actually leave or just change sites?? :lmao: We came by last Thursday and didn't see you, but only went through a couple of loops.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, 2 weeks sounds great to me right now! We went for 7 days back in May, 5 days in September, and are going for 5 more days in March. It always feels like we are there just long enough to have not had time to do everything we want! We just can't get away for that long at a time.

:confused3:confused3 You mean you've been there for 7 months continuously?? When we were there in September you left and posted that you wouldn't be coming back until the GG at Halloween. Did you all just change sites instead of heading home?

Shanta, when will you be there in March? we'll be at the Bay Lake Towers the 28th for 1 week and then animal kingdom lodge for 5 more days. It would be nice to meet you.

Hey Curt, I would love to meet you too, but if we make it back by NEXT March I'd be tickled! F&W 2010 would be a victory, F&G 2011 might be a little more realistic, and if I don't get back by MNSSHP 2011 I'll start to get bitc.... irritated! LOL

Carol we are at our new home now. Have to get jobs and save for our next 6 months in the summer. We did leave for about 3 weeks total over the 7 months there. 3 camp sites the last one was hard to leave. I hope to get that site back again. I have to thank Judy for all the Res.and keeping us there for all that time.

May I ask what site was hard to leave and why?

Thanks

This has been an interesting thread but I never did see the answer to my question.

So is there a limit (30 days per reservation like with cash) on using points. The way I figure it, we should be able to camp for either 7 or 8 weeks, depending.

Anyone tried this yet?

You'd have to talk to DVC reservationist about how many points you would need. Don't forget about the 95$ booking fee for staying at the Fort for each reservation.

Let me preface this by saying that that I LOVE this board. But I am naive. And have a hard time, at times, telling who on here is serious and who's joking ...

BUT - Really? Like you LIVE there ? How cool is that ?????:goodvibes

This is my goal within 5 years :)

For DVC, they HAVE dropped the $95 per reservation at the Fort.

I think it is just limited by availability and the amount of points you have.

The Fort is VERY hard to get on points. You have to book 11 months out of your departure to the day. If you wanted a full 30 days on points you may not get it. Honestly, I would book a week at a time until all your points are gone, filling in with cash as necessary.

Look at post #7. I believed I answered your question as to length of time. I can't answer questions about DVC points as I never saw any benefit to buying into the DVC.

We stayed 4 months during the winter, twice. I know four couples who actually stayed at the campground more than a year. Given Disney's "9 month in a calendar year" rule, they must have made ressies under multiple names.

If you want a factual answer about DVC points, you might want to call directly to the DVC department and ask them.
