I'm going to be renting the Maxima ECV (I'm Pooh sized and need this size ECV) and would like to add the rear basket to assist in carrying items (front basket too small). Will this make the ECV to long to use on Disney Transportation?? (I know there are "boxes" on the ground to show acceptable size, but I'd like to know in advance from those who used the basket.)

Yes, you will be required to remove a rear basket from an ECV before boarding Disney transportation (specifically the buses, but I would expect the monorail too).
It may present problems for you with the switchbacks if you choose to stay on it in line. And it can also present problems with seating as HC seating (while usually is in the back) isn't always. And they have you back into a spot next to the row (not always on the end). An attraction that immediately comes to mind like this is Laugh Floor Comedy. Oh, Tiki Room, too!! And I know there are others.
My suggestion is skip the rear basket and get a bigger backpack and hang it on the back of the seat. Much less protrusive! :)

Agreed. Do an Amazon search for wheelchair bags as well. Lots of stuff extra storage can be hooked to the rear of the seat and not stick out so far.

I bought a really pretty backpack (pinks/purple with tropical flowers) and keep it on the scooter. It's not huge, but is big enough to carry our rain ponchos, a fleece or two, snacks, bottled drinks and sun cream etc. I also found a combination padlock with a 1m wire on a self-rewinding mechanism and use that to lock the bag round the seat and it's small enough to poke through the zip tags so I can lock the bag closed if needs be.

Wow...Thank all of you for the info. Looks like I'll nix the basket and use one of the ideas suggested for backpack or wheelchair bag. Thank you for the heads up!!!
