Mattress difference between deluxe and value?

We have usually stayed at deluxes and the Dolphin/Swan. Last year we spent one night in a pirate room at CSR and the bed, in comparison, was terrible. I'm hoping it was just the fact that it was a pirate bed and required an odd, thin mattress.

What are the value mattresses like? How to they compare to the mattresses at a deluxe?

I know I sound like princess and the pea but it honestly makes a huge difference to my sleep quality and messed up back.

The quality of the mattress goes down, as you decrease the cost of the room. Now definitely the queen beds now at the Moderates are more comfortable than the Pirate beds which I understand are horrible, but there is a difference in bedding and in sheets and towels etc.

Also all the value rooms have full size beds, not queen.

We have stayed at the Contemporary, POR and Pop. Honestly I thought the mattresses were fine at all three resorts, the only difference being we had two doubles at Pop and two queens at the other resorts. So if size matters, then there is a difference but I didn't find a difference in terms of comfort. I have read about some resorts having older mattresses and being due for refurbishment at times, but personally I have never encountered a problem.

On the podcast they said the pirate beds don't even really have mattresses! More like a platform with a piece of foam...yipes!

The mattresses at the value resorts IMO are very uncomfortable and small especially if you have a king size one at home! We haven't stayed at a value in quite some time but there is definitely a difference as you go from value to moderate to deluxe.

I stayed at Pop earlier this year and that was my ONLY gripe about the resort...the mattress was way too hard. Felt like I was sleeping on a rock.

I stayed at Pop (10 nights) and we all hit the bed and were sleeping in minutes:) I guess they couldn't have been that bad:)

We just did a 3 resort split with 1 night at Pop, 2 at GF, and 12 at YC. Aside from the fact that the bedding is nicer, and mattress size difference, I thought the bed at Pop was quite comfy. It was just me & my daughter, so it was only me in the bed. I wouldn't want to have to share the bed at Pop. But for 1 person it was fine.

That's the magic of a rock-hard mattress! The beach house we rent has them and I always get the best sleep there!

I *think* that the Pirate room beds are different than the normal mattress, as in not a real mattress, so that might have been the problem.

I have stayed at all three levels, and haven't noticed a difference in the actual mattress between them. Though, I am usually exhausted by the time I fall into bed, so I could probably sleep on a sidewalk and be just fine. :goodvibes

We've stayed at ASMu in a family suite twice and although that suite has a Queen in the bedroom the bed was hard as a rock. I didn't sleep worth a crap and woke up every morning with an aching back and neck. It was miserable.

I only have a Queen at home but it is a pillow top and must be super soft because that thing at All Star Music was literally like sleeping on a slab of concrete.

These ppl who say they sleep in value beds and think they are comfy have to be ppl who naturally LIKE a very very firm bed. The beds suck.

WL, CR and CSR are all the same.....just different sizes. :rotfl:

The best beds are in the Dolphin - Heavenly beds - so comfy :cloud9:

We noticed a difference. We found the mattresses at ASMu and Pop's to be hard & not all that comfy. When we upgraded to CSR, we noticed a huge difference - those mattresses are comfy and we found the same to be true about the matresses at the BC. Now, the AKL...we found those matresses to be just as hard as the values - not comfy at all.

We aren't picky about mattresses but we do notice a difference between value and deluxe mattresses. It's not the end of the world but it's something to note.

I have stayed at AKL...slept like a baby, thought the bed was super comfy. I've stayed at Poly 3x...slept like a baby each trip, thought the bed was super comfy.

Last year we stayed at ASMo and I could not get comfortable at night and tossed and turned a lot. I woke multiple times each night. I'd always loved the "sleep through the night" feeling I had when I stayed at the deluxe resorts.

It was the mattress, not the size of the bed, since I had a bed to myself at ASMo and shared a bed with my DD on our previous stay at Poly.

I was actually hesitant to stay at another Value because of the beds (but my budget and desire to return to Disney won out). I mean, seriously...if you can't get a good night's sleep at Disney after 10 miles per day of walking and being completely exhausted, you KNOW the beds are terrible, IMO.
