Matthew Mcconaughey's Lincoln commercials

I saw "Contact", so I guess I did see one of his movies. However, I cannot remember his role (does that count)?

I have this thing where if I don't like an actor, I actively avoid his or her movies. I never liked Matthew McConaughey, so I never saw "Dallas Buyers Club" or "The Lincoln Lawyer" to name 2. He may have turned in an Oscar-worthy performance, but I wouldn't have appreciated it anyway. Probably my loss.

He was the minister that was Jodie's old boyfriend and then they started seeing each other again--if you remember the movie well enough :D.

I was just surprised you hadn't heard of him--his name is just kind of out there all the time kind of person.

I think you also have to remember that humans are herd animals. If Lincoln sales go up by more than they what it cost to have Matthew McConaughey do the commercial, the ad worked.

Contact. Dazed and Confused. I'm pretty sure I saw Lone Star. Almost forgot that I saw Amistad.

I do like him as an actor but I really do want to wash his hair. EWWWWWWWW I have NO idea what he's talking about in those commercials. And what does it have to do with buying a Lincoln? I bought a Lincoln Continental once. I was bringing it in to be fixed every other week. Never going to buy one again.

What makes a commercial work is evidence of sales resulting from them. Brand recognition can be a BAD thing if people look at those commercials and think, "Lincolns are driven by dirty creepy men in the dark. I don't want to be a dirty creepy man driving around in the dark."

Yes, there is such a thing as bad publicity. I have no idea if Lincoln sales are increasing due to him appearing in the commercials. If so, the commercials worked. But just because people are talking about those ads doesn't mean it's translating into sales.

Some advertising or marketing failures:
New Coke
Abercrombie & Fitch racist T-shirts
Bill Cosby inviting people to respond to him on Twitter

Was trying to think of a movie i saw him in and all i can think of is dallas buyers club, which was very good. I was asking dh which was the name of the movie he was in when he was a motorcycle rider and his head was in flames, and he said " you're thinking of Nicolas cage!!" I got them confused! But actually he needs a bath too!

These commercials annoy me. I like him but the whole driving around talking commercial just annoys me.
