Are they supposed to be rather humorous or is he really that serious and intense about Lincolns?:confused3 I find them kind of disturbing:rotfl:

I think what Matthew McConaughey is serious and intent about is making money. Further, I think what the Lincoln people are serious and intent about is trying to make us believe that driving a Lincoln will make you serious and intent and ever so much more deep and erudite than someone who drives, say, a Toyota or a Hyundai. And, yes, Sam....I agree that Matthew would benefit from a good shampooing. I volunteer!

He made a movie several years ago called IIRC the Lincoln Lawyer. in the story he lived in the car.

I thought it was a joke the first time I saw one of the Lincoln commercials...like something right out of SNL. I find him creepy and irritating...plus, who would want to drive a Lincoln? I don't think he's a very good actor, either. Lol

Another fan of the Jim Carey ones! There are 3 or 4 of them, if you haven't sen them check them out.
We usually mute the commercials here, but we un-mute the Lincoln ones just to laugh at them.

It is as though he is continuing his True Detective character which was awesome and creepy. MM can do no wrong in my book.

They were trying something different with their advertising I guess. Their cars are certainly unremarkable. I bought a new Cadillac; never even considered a Lincoln.

It's targeted marketing. Likely researched to death. While it isn't 100% effective, humans are herd animals, and that ad probably is pretty effective with the people they want to consider buying a Lincoln. Who are those people? 35 to 40 year olds who currently have or are considering leasing a Lexus, Infiniti ,Audi or BMW.
I don't think they are looking to attract anyone who would even consider a Cadillac. They sure aren't interested in me. I'm 55+, buy my cars, not lease, and drive a car 15+ years.
DW and I went car shopping and Lincoln has some interesting vehicles. Funny, though, some of the changes they have made are clearly geared to a demographic other than me. For some reason, leather is the only seat trim available. Nothing nicer in my opinion than the luxury velvety soft cloth seating Cadillac and Lincoln used to offer. Leather is so common now, you can even get it in a Focus.
