Matthew is so sweet - tonight he gave me the bird! :D Seriously! He came home from work tonight with a baby female Pastel Pearl Cockatiel for me! :) (might have a bit of Lutino in her too) She looks a lot like the bird in this picture but with even more white and yellow.

So I'm going to need some help naming her. I was considering calling her Disney. Anyone have any ideas? (and yes Jeff.. I will consider bird dot com and cockatiel dot com :) )

IAGO!

That one gets my vote. Lauri, that is neat. Birds can be fun. He/She sounds very pretty.

Lauri, Congrats!! If it was my yellow and white birdy, I'd name her Belle like the one in the picture...and I would teach her all of Belle's songs!! LOL!!!

Okay okay how about serious time how about Zena warrior princess bird, or simple call it "The" that way people will say there goes The bird.:p Like it.... no huh

Oh all right how about Ariel cause she sings like a bird.

But wait there's more how about "Money" that way if it ran away you could say, my money went right out the window. no luck huh

Last try... holygrail, pins, my Charonna, Trevor (hey it worked for my dog named after Trevor Howard the English actor)

Here are mine if you like any of them go for it

Cats are China Blue, Ming Sue, Mr Kitty, and Dumpster. (cause I found him in a dumpster thats why)

Dogs are Trevor, Bubba, Yo Yo Yo, and Simba.

Hope this helps:p

Cool bird... I like it. See getting the bird is not always a bad thing...:D

RAUL!!! Trevor is my new son's name!! hehehe I sure hope Lauri doesn't pick that for a bird!

Let us know what you decide Lauri (there's always the standard "pretty bird!")

Congratulations Lauri! I know how much you must love your new baby. Birds have such great personalities (if they're in the right homes) and I know your little girl will give you years of love.

My dog was named Whiskey, and keeping with my alchoholic theme, your bird is the color of a pina colada, which of course has the same initials as Pearl Cockatiel. Of course saying "My Pearl Cockatiel, Pina Colada" three times will make you sound like you've had several of the beverages to drink, but what the heck.

Hi, everyone!

Well, Lauri's decided on a name for the bird ... Pixel. She chose the name because she thought it was cute. :)

Pixel seems to be settling in pretty well. Lauri got her some new toys and perches last night and Pixel livened up a bit -- moved around the cage and chirped more than she had been. We're not sure, but it looks like she likes to watch television. We'll let you know if we find out what her favorite show is.

Thankfully the dogs are taking to the new addition pretty well. Lauri had a cockatiel a couple of years ago, but he died before we got Reilly, so this is something new for Reilly. Toby seems pretty fascinated with Pixel, but we keep having to say "Toby, no!" when he tries to get too close to the cage. He's not the most graceful of dogs and we're afraid he'll knock the cage over. Of course, this means Pixel's first words will be "Toby no!" :D Ironically, one of Lauri's last cockatiel's first words were "Toby."

This morning Lauri opened the door to the cage to see what Pixel would do. Pixel eased her way out onto the cage door and all the way out to the end. I guess she decided to test her wings, but they're still clipped so she barely made it a foot and landed on the floor.

Well, next thing you know, she's surrounded by poodle noses!! They weren't hurting her, but more curious than anything. Lauri picked up Pixel and she perched on Lauri's finger. Lauri sat down on the couch, Pixel made her way to Lauri's shoulder, then to the back of the couch ....

.. and then KERPLUNK! She's between the couch and the wall. Unfortunately Lauri's arms were about two inches too short to reach Pixel, so she had to move the couch out. I was holding onto Reilly and Suzy so they aren't getting in her way behind the couch and freaking out Pixel. Okay, so maybe me sitting on the couch for a moment so I could see where Pixel was back there didn't help much; honestly I thought Lauri had the couch pulled out far enough. Of course, Pixel kept moving away from Lauri into the corner so the bird wasn't helping matters much either. Amazingly, the bird wasn't afraid but playing back there. Lauri managed to get her, and after one more attempt at moving around Pixel found her way back inside the cage.

And sorry, Ed, but the window was closed so even if the name was money we wouldn't have said anything about money out the window. :D

Congrats, Lauri, on Pixel! :) I love birds, might even consider me a bird-brain.. I had a cockatiel up until Thanksgiving. I still have a conure and a macaw. Eventually I want to re-try my hand at breeding (I tried once, but my female had a prolapse so that ended my short career.)

Anyway..

Ashley

Thanks for the laugh Matthew. Just picturing the sight of the bird falling behind the sofa and Lauri frantically trying to reach her to no avail....that is funny :D

Glad to hear you picked a name. Pixel is cute.
