so I tried RSR yesterday and bring the ride chicken that I am, it made my head feel like it was going to explode on the turns and I did not like the 3 hills. I was no worse for the wear after, but I don't know if I'd ride again. Now I'd been tentatively planning on trying Matterhorn. The kids swear it felt slower than RSr and they think I will like it. Side note- we went on an alpine coaster in Tennessee on the way here (we drove x country from NJ) and they said Matterhorn was slower than that if you've ever been on anything like that to compare. Thanks for any info you can share! Oh in addition they did not like space mountain, but loved Matterhorn.

update- went on Matterhorn 3x... Tmrwland def rougher then fantasyland...but loved it! Also did btmrr 2x once at night. Wish I could do Rsr again to see if I liked it more!

I think Matterhorn is MUCH bumpier than RSR. It is faster as well, in my opinion. RSR is fast in certain areas, but Matterhorn is fast throughout... but this is just my opinion, and WOW way bumpier, borderline hurts my back each time I ride it (but I love it, so it's worth it). Hope this helps!

I have to be honest and say that I was surprised at how fast RSR went! I love the Matterhorn and it's not that fast, but it is jerky and bumpy, so beware. Did you ride that coaster in Dollywood? I grew up about 45 minutes away from Dollywood.

Thanks for the info guys! I'm not sure I'm worried about bumpiness, probably more like g forces on my head that I'm the only one to feel lol. We did the smokey mountain alpine coaster, it was near Dollywood. I think it's new and there are a few others.

So I guess Matterhorn is slower, but to me RSR is the easier ride. If google is correct Matterhorn is 27 mph and RSR is 40. I never would have guessed that! Maybe it's all the bumps and being high in spots that makes Matterhorn a scarier ride for me (I have a thing about heights).

Bumps aside, I think Matterhorn is good for someone who might be tentative about coasters. If you ride it in the daytime and are near the front, you can see the tracks and brace yourself against any small dips or bumps. G forces shouldn't really be an issue with this ride.

The Matterhorn was a much bumpier ride, but there are no sharp drops or anything like that.

Personally, I think RSR is a much easier attraction to ride because it's much smoother and is more similar to riding in a car with the top down/windows open. Matterhorn may go more slowly, but it's much bumpier and has several jerky turns and small, but sharp drops (that will raise you off the seat). I find that my knees, back, and tailbone tend to be a bit bruised feeling after riding Matterhorn.

I always have a headache when I get off the Matterhorn. It's very jerky and bumpy. I personally love RSR, and Space Mountain is one of my very favorites. The Matterhorn is one I do once per trip, but I always wish I hadn't!

On RSR I could feel the drops in my stomach, but I don't feel anything like that on the Matterhorn. I did ride the Matterhorn once while I had a headache and the bumps/jerkiness made it worse.

I also thought RSR was a smoother ride. But, if you do go on Matterhorn, I recommend the side by Fantasyland. It's smoother, and you don't have that small, sharp drop that is on the Tomorrowland side.

Oh no I should clarify when I said bumps I meant the 3 little hills. I should change that! I'm more concerned about g forces lol.

If it is G forces that concern you...RSR definitely has more. You do not feel as many G's on the Matterhorn.
Give it a try. I love the new effects!

....no G forces on Matterhorn....no loss of stomach on drops.....just the sensation of being in the winter Olympics on a bobsled. I can Ride Matterhorn over and over, but at the age of 60 I am done with RSR, vertigo just to much on the turn.

People catch some decent air on that last dip before the water. I wouldn't say there are no g forces on the ride, but just that the extreme car vibration makes it seem like that's what's throwing you around the car, when that's not the only factor.

I thought it was just me since people tend to say RSR is mild. I thought my head was going to explode! Glad to know you don't experience that on Matterhorn!

I have ridden both and while I have no problem with Matterhorn, every time I am about to ride RSR I still get nervous. I'm not great with hills, and to me that is what makes RSR the worse of the two.
