Matterhorn Question

I kind of remember reading that there are 2 lines on the Matterhorn, one line's ride is calmer than the other. Is this really true? And if so, which one is which and what are the real differences? Thanks!

Surely someone will jump in and tell me I have it backwards :) , but in my limited experience, I found the Fantasyland side to be smoother. The Tomorrowland side (especially the last quarter or so of the ride) seemed rougher - as the car bounces around on the track more.

The Fantasyland side is commonly referred to as the calmer side. The Tomorrowland side is more bumpy and has steeper drops in a couple of places. The Tomorrowland track also offers a few quick views of the Submarine Lagoon construction if you're interested in seeing that.

One tip sheet I have says that if you enter from the Tomorrowland side, you see the yeti once :paw: , but if you enter from the Fantasyland side, you see him twice. :paw: :paw:

Yesterday, we rode the Matterhorn from the Tomorrowland side and saw the abominable snowman twice. Or more like we saw his red eyes only the first time and then full view of him the second time. And, if it's true the Fantasyland side is smoother, we'll go over there more often! Because it's real bumpity bumpy and it hurts!

OK. This is good information for me. Now, in your opinion, which side is better. I am planning on going there as soon as my flight lands Thursday (unless I get in real late and then I will go on Friday) and I am looking for any info that I can get. Now, I should also say that I am a thrill ride junkie and love that kind of stuff. I will probably try both sides if time allows but we will see. Thanks for any input.

The Fantasyland side is more scenic, and has some great views, especially of FL at night ! On the flip side Tomorrowland is more interior, but the show effects are more thrilling and effective at night. I love them both, do both :)

Is this a ride my 3 year old can ride if she rides with us? She does pretty well on fast rides as long as mom or dad go. Will the snowman scare her? I forget if he looks scarey or not.

My dd has been riding this since she was 3, and she did fine. The cool thing is that two fit in a seat tandem, so your little one will practically be sitting on your lap.

The first time mine rode, I wrapped my legs around her. lol

Okay, I'm gonna be honest here. I've never ridden the Matterhorn. I'm not a roller coaster person, so I've always been scared. But if a 3-year-old can do it, so can I! lol I'll try the Fantasyland side!

Out of curiosity, why is there no fastpass for the Matterhorn? I know there are 2 lines but every time I go to the park the lines are crowded.

all of the queue is exterior, so the lines move faster than you might think........

Mom did that to me, too, when I was little! Oh, and the height requirement read 35". My uncle said to my sister and I, "Wow, you guys barely made the requirement!" We're both at 5'2 while he's 6'1, so he always loves to tease us about our height! I've also seen elderly people ride it, so it's not bad at all.

I am a big chicken and I rode the Matterhorn with no problems. I didn't realize the ride was different depending on which side you got on. Another excuse to go back. :)
