Never had the chance to ride the Matterhorn our first trip to DL. We are looking forward to riding it this weekend. I heard there are different tracks to ride. Which one is the best? Is one faster than the other? What are the differences? TIA

If you do a "matterhorn" search on Youtube you can find a video where someone taped both rides, then present it in split screen to show you the difference. I was surprised at how similar they seemed on the video, however in person I know I prefer the Tomorrowland side. I like the way the monster scares me more! I always scream. And, I think it's less jerky.

The only way to know what side you like better is to try both out!! Have fun.

I've never noticed much of a difference but I actually prefer the Fanstasyland (west) side. That line can be shorter than the other (when it's open) Have fun! :woohoo:

you are correct. one is longer in both length and time (but not much) and the other is faster in speed. not sure which is which offhand. but you should ride both sides anyway.

i think the yeti appears more on one side too.

Try both!!!

I always go by the length of the line since I like both.

Left side is faster and has more bumps, but the Fantasyland side is longer and offers a slightly better view at night (I like the look of space mountain and the sub lagoon at night, so I'm happy either way!)

They both offer similiar yet different to DL geeks like us rides to the point where it is fun to compare and contrast.

I just wish they didn't close up the cool view spot at the top of the hill and too bad they could not run it like it was originally intended and used when they were individual "bobsled" cars, not two car trains like now. They had to do this to make the ride capacity decent.

Still, I love Matterhorn, it is just a classic and there never has been and never will be another coaster quite like it, anywhere. Matterhorn is a true one of a kind.

We like the Fantasyland side best, but whichever side we ride it's always fun. I would suggest you ride both sides if you can. The Tomorrowland side is always open, the Fantasyland side is often closed.

I like the Tomorrowland side better because of "the drop" (not big, but surprising). Also I found that the Yeti's red eyes at the beginning were much louder on the Fantasyland side. However both are great rides!

My fave is Tomorrow land, but really there are 4 unique rides to enjoy, both sides during the day, and both sides at night..........and people wonder how we fill 5 days at DLR :)

Geez - all my years of being a Disney freak, and I never noticed the difference. Where have I been?? :confused3 Maybe because we always tend to enter from the Tomorrowland side. Neat comparison video.

I haven't been on the Matterhorn for over 20 years and am so excited to ride it this year. Thanks for letting me know to try out both sides!

Uh oh! I was thinking that this was a ride that I could go on because I don't like drops. Now this says something about "the drop". Could you please elaborate?? What kind of drop are we talking about?? For example - I can not ride splash mountain because of the drop.

Thanks!

have they added new cars to the matterhorn yet as rumored or are they still the same?

the Matterhorn drops are not like the Splash drop, the Splash drop is 50 ft down. The Matterhorn drops are more like 5, they really are quite small. More like *dips* IMO.
