This is a ride I remember loving from when I was younger and I was looking forward to going on it with DH and DS for their first trip during spring break - but I see that it is closed for refurbishment until June :sad1:

I'm in the same spot and am so disappointed too. We will be there early May and will miss it. :(

The Matterhorn was closed for us for 3-4 consecutive trips growing up. I didn't get to ride it until I was 17. Bummer.

I was down when we were there this last August..this referb has been planned for along time, some info on it was posted last fall.

Deffiently shouldn't be too big of a surprise for anyone who has been doing any type of planning for a trip.

They are replacing the bobsleds, doing a major refurbishment (cleaning & repainting) with some minor upgrades.

Yes, those folks who have time to check on in the forums far in advance can get these tips. But the Matterhorn closure happening now was know last July. Bummer for the OP.

It needs some major work. I remembered it as one of my favorites from my childhood visits many years age. We went recently and wow was it a rough ride - didn't remember that for sure.

Yes, it is a very rough ride, that is why it was always my favorite...until now. I'm older and I hurt a bit when I got off in December. Not a lot, but I felt it for sure.

Just in case anyone is wondering after seeing this thread. The Matterhorn will reopen June 15th.

Glad to see this. I was definitely wondering. Glad it is supposed to be open before our trip. I will believe it for sure when I actually see the scaffolding come down on the web cam :)

Don't worry the 15th is sourced officially from Disney.
