Has anyone been here recently? I understand from some search results that it changed a bit last year? Some questions:
1) do you now need an adr? if not, wait times you suffered?
2) did you enjoy the sushi?
3) drinks still pretty good?
My kids love sushi and this might be a pit stop for our coming vacation.

The Matsunoma Lounge has been integrated into the larger restaurant there. It is no longer a walk-in lounge, AFAIK.

The sushi there was very good -- not as good as California Grill IMHO, but better than my local sushi sources.

If you've been to Matsunoma 2-3 years ago, you'll be disappointed with the changes. The menu has gotten much more standardized, and they no longer offer some of the things they used to, like the Deluxe sushi sampler. We always enjoyed getting to taste a bit of everything with this large platter, but it's fallen a prey to the DDP, as has the quality of the sushi. It's now dull & uninteresting. If you're really a sushi fan, you won't be pleased with the sushi served here. Go pick up a to-go tray at Publix for the same quality experience at 1/3 the cost.

Cheers!

Thank you for your replies. This is all very depressing for me as I have fond memories there way back in the 80's. Oh well. The CA Grill is in the CR I see which is convenient.

Kampai!

Despite the changes we've never had a problem getting a table here. It's become our afternoon rest stop; we usually linger a couple of hours over sake and sashimi. I've only seen it get crowded during the dinner rush.

last september it was still walk-in without ADR (but then again, we got there just as it opened with no one waiting to go in)

menu has been downsized since years past

it's nice and quiet, cool, relaxing - pretty view

although for what we order (california rolls) we now also go to the teppanyaki and get the same thing cheaper (and no tipping)

Augh. I am so tired of my favorite places that weren't "popular" falling victim to DDP.

If your children love sushi then I reccomend heading over to Kimono's in the Swan hotel. I hear the sushi is very good there and the Swan host a lot of Japanesse clients and they all seem to enjoy it there.

Will this be open in early May, or is it part of the Teppanyaki renovation?

Is Matunoma on the DDP?

Matsunoma has been annexed and is now part of Tempura Kiku; it's not the separate lounge it used to be.

We do like Kimonos. The sushi is pretty good quality, and you can usually get a table no problem. Of course, now that I say that, please let it not turn into the next Le Cellier! :)

Cheers!

Its not a separate lounge; for clarity's sake then we must make a reservation to go to Tempura Kiku instead of being able to walk in and just say, "we are going to the lounge only." Is that the right understanding?

I will have to find out how to get over to Kimonos!
