Matrix Reloaded Awesome or Stinker?

We just got back and we really loved it. I thought the story and effects were awesome and I can't wait till November to see Revolutions!!

The movie was awesome. But you have to listen intently on the dialogues so would understand and appreciate the moview more.

We saw it Saturday night. I liked the first one better, but Reloaded was good. The action in this one was awesome.

Reloaded blew the matrix out of the water...

O M G I was doing floating in mid air moves myself after the movie I was so pumped.

To see NEO stop the machines without being inside the matrix really shows what he can do now.

I thought it was fantastic, but I agree that the CG in the Agent Smith fight was really obvious- done properly it should leave you saying "What special effects?" Of course, every time Agent Smith comes on I get giggly and think "Elrond in sunglasses!"

Muushka- They are playing it at IMAX right now- that's where I saw it. They only use like 70% of the screen, but its still pretty spectacular!

Or IS he outside of the Matrix?? Hmm....

Yes, we will still see Revolutions. I'm hoping it wraps everything up. The agent Smith fight secene is EXACTLY what I was talking about with the CGI looking fake. He (Neo) looks like a cartoon, stretched out, thin and the colors are off.
Agreed, parts of the movie made me feel like I was playing a Playstation 2 game.

For the poster who mentioned Gollum in the Two Towers, now THAT was CGI at it's best! ;)

I liked Reloaded, but really felt they kind of overdid the "sexual" overtones of this movie. Those of you who saw the movie will know what I mean (one example - the chocolate cake eating scene, what did THAT add to the story line?)

The chocolate cake scene provided a motivation for Persephone to betray her husband, the Merovingian.

Also, on the effects, CGI isn't that much more noticable than rubber masks/models/etc or other "Real" effects. Its all about suspension of disbelief. The CGI effects were noticable, but not so glaringly obvious that you couldn't sit back and enjoy the fight.

Also, CGI costs time to make it better/more realistic. I wouldn't be suprised if a large portion of the effects budget was poured into Gollum and Yoda since they were on screen for a long period of time. Where a fight scene would be a good place to just get it good enough and save the money to place elsewhere.

This is wierd...I didn't notice the CGI in the Smith scene. And for those of you who don't know it, those were all Agent Smiths. They shot the guy who plays him in several diffent fight scenes with Neo so they just had to put it together. I thought it was AMAZING and it turned out to be my favorite scene in the movie :)

I have to say that I didn't like all the sexualilty in this movie...I could've done without that and had more fight scenes :)

I've heard a lot of people complaining about not understanding the movie because it doesn't make since to them. Well, that's because you have to see the Animatrix, Enter the Matrix and Reloaded to understand it all.

They're showing it in IMax theaters??? I didn't know that. I hope they're showing it at the one here. That'd be cool to see it that big :)

Overall, I give this one a 9 out of 10. Loved the storyline, loved the fight scenes, didn't like all the mushy stuff.

I completely agree with you!
Other than that, we thought the movie was great! :)
I do think I liked the first one better. There was just such newness and suspence with the concept and discovery of the "matrix" in that one.
This one was great, though, and we are looking forward to the next one! :)

And I agree with JC2 ...

About the sex scenes - I was thinking - what did that have to do with the movie? ... and the chocolate cake scene could have achieved the same effect without having to be so graphic. I know these movies are rated R, but there are a lot of teens who will go see it, and would have enjoyed it as much, if not more, without the sexuality.

Okay - you know that chain necklace that Link is wearing - do you think it will have any significance in #3? I was wondering why make an issue of it if it's not going to be used...

the CGI - I thought it was a stunt man  - okay, so it was cgi

I loved the scenes w/Agent Smith - he struck me as funny ... and with Link :)

The dialogue was a little over my son's friend's head, and someone else said, "Speak English" out loud when Neo was talking to the Architect.

Also... I think I'm going to have to see the Animatrox, etc., so I can get a better understanding what's going on here.

We all enjoyed the movie, though I liked the Matrix better.

I enjoyed it, but felt like many of the scenes were stretched too far. They could have accomplished just as much of the story with a lot less time spent fighting Agent Smiths, fighting on the freeway, the intimacy between Trinity and Neo while the dancing is going on in Zion... Those scenes seemed to go on forever and while they had good special effects and were well done technically they could have been shorter and not lost any of the impact on the story.

but we don't want to see the scenes like the agent smith fight and the freeway chase for the story lines...we want to see them for the special effects! They could've cut out the love scenes and added more of that. I LOVED it!

Aside from feeling that the CGI was poorly done at times, which I mentioned in an earlier post, I felt that the pacing of the film was terrible. They stretched out some scenes when it was unneeded, which other posters have pointed out. It seems to me that they could have cut out a lot of this film and added it to the one that is coming out this fall. It seems, judging from just this film, that it was not meant to be a trilogy.

I love Matrix. Thought the movie was awsome. Do agree about the sex scene. I found myself looking around, checking my watch.
Did like the original better. But, the origanal is almost always better anyway.

As much as I loved the movie, and really loved all the action, after a while it did start to feel like they were just sticking them in because they hadn't had one in a few minutes. When Neo met the guy at the Oracle's place, I jokingly said to my friend "He's going to have to fight him now, they havent had an action scene in a few minutes", so when he did, I cracked up.

I guess I'm in the minority in thinking that the sex scene was handled pretty well, with the cutting back and forth between that and the party- makes it much better than just the sex scene alone. Plus they didn't show as much as most movies do.

I'm certainly looking forward to the conclusion!

Not with these types of movies though...
Empire Strikes Back
Aliens
Terminator 2
etc...

Veltvet it's not really meant to be a triology, so your right

It's really just a to be continued of part two, Reloaded had so much to pack it, they had to cut it into..

Just like Clones it's preparing us for the future:

The Birth of Darth Vader
The Death of the Matrix

While I have to agree with the statement that the orig. was better IMO.....

I still LOVED Reloaded. Your going to a movie to be entertained and I think Reloaded achieved that. It was action packed from start to finish. Some scenes did look fake, but so what! The movie still rocked. Considering how far CGI has come since, say, Tron, I think it's a major accomplishment.

I will say too that I wish they would have done with out the sex scene and I understand the chocolate cake scene but wish they wouldnt have gone quite THAT far with it. For those reasons I won't take Devyn to see the movie. Had those been removed, in a heartbeat, I would have taken her.
