Math wizards I need your help figuring out gas budget

So, I'm trying to figure out if it's worth DH and I carpooling together. Can you help me?

Average price of gas here: $3.20/gallon
MPG for my car: 22
MPG for DH's SUV: 15
Miles to DH's work now: 42
Miles to my work: 35
Extra miles for DH if we carpooled (going out of his way to drop me off, then driving to work): 7
Extra daycare costs we would incur: $10/day

So, is it worth it?

I come up with $5.88 savings using one car, yours. That is if that 7 miles is one way, 14 total.

If gas becomes harder to get it may be worth carpooling what ever the savings! Just a thought, Im awful with math so I have no numbers for You.

Thanks so much, Dan!! You're right, the 7 miles is one way. So, that's $5.88 a day and using my car, right? If you don't mind (and it's not hard - again, bad with the math), can you figure out what the "break even" point, in terms of gas prices. That point being the $10.00 extra daycare expense.

Very valid point. (Knock on wood), we've had no difficulties getting gas here.
