While we were touring the Wilderness lodge we were told that the amount of land that Walt Disney actually bought is a secret. No one knows who isn't runinng the company supposedly. He did leave us several pieces of information though. To date they have built 22% of the property. The original papers Walt left with the company allow them to build out to only 35% of the total property. If anyone knows the acreage thats built on can they figure out how much land is left for expansion?
I know one of the disboarders will have this information. Thanks

How do you define "built on?" As in paved (parking lots) or holding structures? Does acreage under monorail count? Water areas?

It is true that the amount of property originally purchased and the amount was a closely guarded secret. My dad was in the space program and had to go to Port Canaveral a few times a year, there was buzz about a corporation buying up land under several names, in order to keep the price from going up.

A lot of that info went with Walt and his inner circle since he died before Disney opened and it was out of respect to keep it out of the public's hands.

Fast forward to today, Disney prides themselves on being unique and therefore does not release statistics in order to be NOT compared to other companies. I respect them for that.

In order to keep the magic alive, there is no reason to formally release info, like we have so much land for so many parks and so many resorts, etc. If you realize that and think outside the box a bit, the best buzz has been releasing the info a bit at a time......statistics just create unrealistic expectations from people where they lose control of the message.
