Math not adding up on new 4 for 3 deal....

On another thread, someone who seems in the know stated that Disney is taking the full 7-day price for the week, then averaging the per-day price and deducting 3 days from the total, so maybe that is where your discrepancy lies. That means that they charge the higher price for the weekends, the lower price for the other days, plus the full price for the 7-day hoppers and divide that by seven to get an average.

Have you tried that method for computing your pkg.?

That would sound like the correct method for the room since nights can vary each day of the week as seasons change and weekends pop into play. Ah, how I miss pre-2008 (or was it pre-2007?) pricing where you were charged every night based on the night you checked in. The good ole days!

I know bottom line for a Poly Garden View in June we are saving a bit over $1000 with the 4/3 deal with one day base tickets (we have APs) v. room only for the exact same dates.

I was just coming back on to say that I wrote that wrong: I think it is average price per-day for room x3, deducted from total of 7 days + price of 4-day park hoppers. I know that you only save about $9 per ticket, vs. the savings on the room.

I miss the good ol' days of one rate per season, too!

One more wrench to throw into the works: Did you consider the $200 gift card that's part of the 4/3 offer?

Its funny-I went on wdw wbsite to price a trip out and it only gives me options for waterview and up and I tried 3 resorts. Then I priced this new promo against a 40 percent pin code for the same days and its pretty much the same.It just sounds good and they are smart and will find a way to get you..business as usual
Yeah, that makes sense - the room rate discount works out to 43.857% on the 4/3 deal, so just a little more than a 40% off code.

Yes, I tried that, and it's still off by approx. $40.

It seems that they just charged me the weekend rate for all 4 nights. That's an almost exact $40+ tax extra.

I'm gonna call.

There is no weekend or weekday rate for the rooms when you book a package deal.

Over the years we've booked 10 day vacations.

Sat-Mon, 10 days with two weekends
Tues-Thurs, 10 days with one weekend

While investigating prices on line, the two variations were always the exact same price.

Unless something has changed recently.

I've even priced packages in regular season and value season (no overlapping) and the price did not change. But that may be because of that special offer.

I imagine special offers are immune to seasons and weekend consideration.

We priced rooms online for Poly for our trip in March before the 4/3 deal and I saved the offer ... at that point the room worked out to $385 per night before tax. When I went back after the 4/3 deal, the rooms had gone up to $520 per night. While it is an overall savings, it seems to me Disney jacked up room rates when they decided to do the 4/3 deal. Par for the course, but kinda sad if you ask me.

Weekend rates are only in effect during Peak and Holiday season, and during Holiday weekends.

That's why you've never encountered them during Regular or Value season...

I also have a third adult in my room at the Yacht Club. My quote came up exactly $84 over the rate quoted for 4 nights on the WDW website. I think they are charging $28 a day for the three "free" days for the extra adult in the room ($25 + $3 tax). I would also try your numbers with a 5 day park pass. It's always one more day than the number of nights you are staying. Hope that helps.

:confused3 This doesn't make sense to me. I have a copy of the 2009 published rates since they came out last August. Nowhere is a room 385. I have 485 during peak season (March) for a garden view Poly. I do have $520 for regular season (April 19-July 2), lagoon view. Did you maybe punch in your dates wrong somewhere? Or maybe somehow ran it with a discount the first time through? Accidentally got the wrong resort? Are comparing different views? Or some combination of the above?

Also... Park Hoppers are not included

All I can tell you is what I am seeing. I have a second deal, saved the same way as the first ... AKL March 21 through March 28, standard view, 8 day Park hopper passes (no water park), no flight, no ground and magic your way plus dining. Pre 4/3 offer is $4040.70, post 4/3 $4001.36. Break it down ... the room prices were jacked up when they offered the 4/3. Again, par for the course. I'm not saying it is a ripoff, a discount is a discount, but the saving is not what it is touted as being no matter HOW you slice it.

This is what might tip us over the fence to go for the deal. We averaged $35 for a counter service meal last trip. That'll be 5 meals. Here is a Pop Century Break-down. A Pop Century 4/3 deal costs 1,484. When you add a 7 day hopper for a family of four ds11, dd8, which is $1,147 to the cost of 4 nights at Pop Century at $85 a night you get $1,487. That was right on the price. So we get three nights free($255) and the $200 card as a discount. I cannot find a moderate though

Trullclan, without your mentioning the number of people in your party and the ages, it is hard to see what your cost should be.

Inputting just 1 adult and 2 children under 10 using the regular pricing comes to $4101 with all the options you mentioned. (It's the closest I could get to your pre 4/3 price of $4040.70) The same thing using the 4/3 deal would Total: $2,829.21 for a savings of $1272. That works out to $153.86 for 2 child dining plans, $279.93 for 1 adult dining plan totaling $433.79. Hopper for 1 adult for 8 days (5 day hopper cost) is $289.68 and 2 children's total $504.82. Add this to dining to get $1228.29 so far. That leaves $1600.92 for 4 nights standard view, or $400.23 including tax per night. That's a huge savings and sounds about right. If I were you, I'd call Disney back or run the numbers on Disney.com.

My 4/3 was a savings of $1800 off rack and more than $1400 off my AAA rate during Easter week at the Poly, with no change at all to room or Hopper days. Changing to 8 day hoppers would only add about $10 more to the package below.

April 11-18, 2009
7 nights / 8 days
2 adults, 14 & 8 yr old
Polynesian garden view

Including tax, discount and 7 day park hopper tickets

Total $3,295.74

Sounds like something was off in one of the prices the ran for you. Let us know if you get the 4/3 deal for a better price. Your dates in a standard view are still available on the WDW website. Good luck!

Editing to Add: I see that the first time around, you mention prices at the Poly,

and the second time you mention prices at the AKL. (The opening quote in this post.) The Poly runs $485-$505 before tax from Feb 16-April 3. No way you had $385 there. AKL- yes. Poly- no. Are the quotes for the same resorts?

just the room with out the special is $3,864.37

remember you are paying rack rates not discount rate.

the park hoppers are NOT discounts - so you are still paying for a 7 (or 8) day park hoppers

this offer only includes the room rate.

any adults over 2 in the room are still having to pay the extra charge - even with the 3 free nights.

Actually, the Hoppers ARE discounted also. (From the WDW site--) Buy a 4-night/4-day package and get 3 nights FREE including Theme Park tickets! When you price it on the Disney Website, when you click to change from base tickets to hoppers, look at the price increase to the side. From 4 days to 7, it will be +xxx.xx- the same for all 4 days of hoppers. Try it. It is 4/3 for room and tickets. You will pay a charge to upgrade from base to hoppers, but still, the last 3 days are free. (Not that it is a lot of money saved there...)

Also, the $3864.37 price doesn't match the AKL standard view price at all for 7 days. It would match the Poly rack rate if that is what you were figuring. Trullclan noted both the Poly and the AKL. (See the quote from Trullclan in the top of my post just before yours.)

You might be a little confused on the tickets. For the deal, you get 3 days free with the minimum purchase of 4 days. Hoppers are a flat fee (not based on number of days) and there is no discount on that, but you still should get 3 free days with 7-10 day ticket purchase for a whopping $9 per ticket discount.

just going with the POlyn rate.

that say just did the figures myself - you are correct - something is wrong.

Woo- Hoo, I'm gonna get me a...popcorn and a soda???
