Has anyone actually done the math on this new deal and found a discrepancy?

We have the Polynesian, Garden View booked from March 4-11 (Wed-Wed) for 3 adults, with 7 day park hoppers (no other add ons) and the total comes to $3242.44 on Disney.com. I have the reservation made already and put the deposit down.

HOWEVER, if I break down the package components seperately on Disney.com, here is what I get:

Tickets:

4 DAY Park Hopper for 3 adults: $807 total
4 Nights at Polynesian, Garden View (I put in weekend dates, since we will be going during Peak Season, and weekend rates apply, so I wanted to make sure I accounted for that increase in rate): $2340 total

TOTAL Price
when you add the 4 nights at Poly to the 4 day park hopper, remembering that the additional 3 nights and 3 days of the ticket are "supposedly" free: $3,147.00

Original Package Price quoted: $3242.22
Same components broken down: $3147.00
Difference: $95.22 OVERCHARGE on package.

What gives? :confused3 Should I call?

Thought it was based on 4 people, 2 adults, 1 over 9 and one between 3 and 9?

I havent added it up, but I thought it was based on 4 people, not 3

Are you including the charge for the 3rd adult. I believe the room charge is for 2 adults only.

Yes, because when you go online, it asks how many adults, and they add that in for you and include it in the total. And besides, the "extra" charge is $25 per night, which would be a flat $175 for the week.

Anyway, the regular peak season rates for the Poly Garden View are $485 weekday/ $505 weekend, and the rates per night are showing up as $510 and $530 on Disney.com, so I know they've already included the extra adult fee. It's not that.

And a standard view at beach club, for 2 adults, a 12 year old and a 7 year old shows 2407.66 for the 7 days for tix for all people.. That 'seems' like a good deal, will have to look closer though

That's irrelevant. That is just Disney's "example" when they use an arbitrary figure for marketing purposes for how much the vacation is "starting from". Like in those commercials where they say $1600 per week for a family of four....that's the "family" they are referring to. For the purposes of this deal, it does not matter what the makeup of your traveling party is. If you have more than 2 adults, you pay the additional fees as necessary, but that does not change the "free nights" status. Free is free, and that is supposed to mean free of fees as well.

I almost want to say that they are charging tax on the "free" nights. Are they?

I believe you still pay sales tax on the "Free" parts of the deal.

Lets say the room is $100 a night. They'll charge you $700, add the sales tax then deduct $300.

Well, looking at the price of the passes, it seems that the 6.5% tax is not included.......That accounts for some of it........

I believe you still pay sales tax on the "Free" parts of the deal.

That would seem about right, being that sales tax is about 6%, right? That would add up to be just about $95, so I suppose that's it. Is that a requirement that they do that? It would have been nice for them to mention in the booking process somewhere...

At least they didn't charge their "resort" tax too...

I get $859.47 for the Hoppers, not $807. $286.49 x 3. That is the price listed with tax on the Mousesavers site for a 4 day adult hopper.

Extra $25 per extra adult in the room. $505 plus $25+ $530. Room tax of 12.5 % gives you 596.25 per night. Four nights taxed with 1 extra adult= $2385. I believe you will not get the $485 price with this package. Probably need to pay the highest rate to get the 4/3 deal.

Add these two together and you get $3244.47. $2.25 more than the package price you got actually. But I will check it again.

You're right on the hoppers...the price on Disneyworld.com did not include tax...

The room rate will only be $530 for 2 NIGHTS of our stay, Friday and Saturday. We will be there for one week, arriving Wednesday, leaving Wednesday. We will be there only during ONE weekend. The rate for the other nights will only be $510. For the purposes of the deal, we will pay 2 nights at $530 and 2 nights at $510. There is no reason why Disney would be able to charge us the $530 rate for 4 nights, since that is ONLY a weekend rate, and it ONLY applies for 2 nights of our entire stay. If we were staying over 2 weekends, I'd accept that explanation to pick the 4 most expensive nights, but that is not the case.

Brergnat,

I am just looking at it the way most discounts work wherever you buy. Highest price prevails. Even if it shouldn't.

I'm certainly not trying to argue. You asked if you should call and I was just presenting some numbers to help you decide. Since the tax wasn't included in the hoppers, the discrepancy is now down to $52.46. I am the kind of person who does call about even smaller discrepancies, so it's up to you.

The difference is probably in the taxes. While tickets are taxed at 6.0% (or thereabouts) te rooms are taxed at somewhere around 12%. I was able to confirm this based on the pre-discount pricing. (Poly room = $355 per night came out to $399.37 per night after taxes) I was able to verify my updated reservation to within $2.70. (Didn't go to sleep last night until I did) That's close enough for even me :cool2:

Hope that helps

How about insurance? $95.22 sounds about right, and it's automatically included unless you specifically opt out.

Actually my figures on the final discrepancy are off a bit just above.

$3242.22 Quoted price/package charge
-$2340.00 Your figure for rooms (tax is 12.5%)
-$ 859.47 Hoppers with Tax (6.5%)

$ 42.75 more than the sum of parts you have determined ($3147)

It's not insurance, as Brergnat didn't have tax figured into the original hopper cost in the OP, so the $95 figure is no longer valid.

It's not resort tax on the other 3 nights as $510 x 3 x 12.5%= $191.25. The $42.75 only amounts to less than 3% of the 3 free nights cost. It's barely more than 1% of the total package cost.

I'm for you calling Brergnat, to see if they DID charge the higher weekend rate for all 4 nights. Again, it is very close to the price you were charged.

4 nights @ $530 (the weekend rate) with 12.5% resort tax= $2385. Add hoppers at $859.47 and you get $3244.47. $2.25 over the package price they gave of $3242.22.

I find the $42 discrepency to be more annoying than a large one that can more easily be explained. Or questioned.

I'll be amazed if you can get any type of decent answer when you call, but I would try. Let us know!

You should go online and get a quote for with the special promotion and then go back and get a quote without. Then you'll get the prices and can see how they compare to yours.

Its funny-I went on wdw wbsite to price a trip out and it only gives me options for waterview and up and I tried 3 resorts. Then I priced this new promo against a 40 percent pin code for the same days and its pretty much the same.It just sounds good and they are smart and will find a way to get you..business as usual

Just book two consecutive 7/4 package from May 21 to June 4.
I had a 14 day + 10 days ticket package at CBR

After all the positive and negative in hotel cost and ticket cost I ended saving 600.00 plus and instead of having tickets for 10 day, I now have tickets for the 14 day

Bottom line is I am pay for 8 day and getting 6 free

When I figure our package I come out $19.82 higher than what we were charged ;)

We will be checking in at the Poly in a garden view on Jan 18, the day before MLK day. We are being charged the rate for the MLK holiday on Sunday night, and then 3 days at regular price for Mon, Tue and Wed, and the rest of the nights are free. We are not paying the MLK holiday price for each of our 4 nights.
