Maters Junkyard Jambouree Down Now Too

So now I find out only four weeks till my trip that not only is Pirates down but Maters ride is down for refurb too. I really wanted to experience the new Carsland at its best as we haven't seen it before. We arrive the day before it goes down but unfortunately there are no park reservations available now so I can't change the park I have allocated for that day and I don't have park hopper for that ticket. This new reservation system absolutely sucks. People's plans change day to day even on holidays, there needs to be more flexibility. I really think this may be my last American Disney trip which really makes me sad.

Our first day in the parks is 24th April and we have 8 park days but I believe Mater is going down on the 25th. There are no dates available for DCA at all for that week only DL so I don't want to go trying to change reservation dates in case I screw things up. Oh well it is what it is.

Yes, I remember you mentioning late April. If it helps I have some dining reservations that week I probably need to drop and would be happy to arrange a time to see if you can grab them. I will send you a message.

This might be unpopular, but you won't be missing much. The only ride I'd normally bother with in Carsland is Radiator Springs Racers. The land is still spectacular, and you won't be disappointed with it.

Thanks for your input. I know it is sort of a filler ride but this is probably the last time I will get to visit Disneyland so I was hoping to do as many of the new rides as possible. Its okay we will still have fun just a little disappointed thats all.

Have you done the Alien Swirling Saucers (can't use that acronym, LOL) at HS? Same ride, different theme. Mater's has better music though.

No I haven't, we haven't been to an American Disney park in nearly ten years. So much has changed since we were at both WDW and DL many years ago. I am going in with low/realistic expectations as I know that it will be nothing like our last trips which were super magical and in January (low crowd levels) but I feel like we will have a good time anyway.

There are no low crowd level times now from my understanding. If you happen to land at a time that is less than awful (crowd-wise) then consider yourself lucky. That's what I've picked up from reading these forums.
