I live in Worcester County and am seriously disappointed by the scrapping selection I have found so far. Pretty much my only local treks have been to Joan's in Holden (very small) and Michaels in Shrewsbury....I do try to get an occasional trip to AC Moore in Holyoke when I head home to Berkshires....but...

It seems like everything is the same old stuff and I have a hard time finding any new products. I have ordered plenty on line, but sometimes its nice to see and touch things before you buy, you know?

Have you MA scrappers found any local shops, etc that I may have over looked?

Thanks.

There's a store in Grafton called 'A time for Memories, Inc.' on 78 Worcester Steet, Suite 2

In Sudbury: Artastic! on 423 Boston Post Road, Sudbury - I believe this is route 20.

I haven't been to either one of these but I have been to:

Right at Home Scrapbooking in N. Attleboro on 560 Kelley Blvd. It's off of 495. I had a great time with my sister and sister-in-law in this store. In total I think we left there a couple hundred $$ poorer. It was a great store things that AC Moore and Michaels don't carry mostly and few that they all have.

Hope this helps some.

Laura

I hear ya. I live in Oxford. I too have done plenty of on-line shopping.

I've been to Michael's in Shrewsbury, Wal-Mart in Oxford, A Time for Memories in Grafton ( www.atimeformemories.com ). They carry alot for a small space. I need to plan ahead & know EXACTLY what I want to do before I head there.

Just visited ACMoore in Bellingham this week. I was disappointed. The ACMoore in Hyannis had TONS!

Gotten alot from QVC & various on-line stores. I do better on-line because I can plan what I want to do & just buy that. I get overwhelmed in the stores I think.

I am near the New Hampshire border and go into Nashua for my supplies. Besides, Michael's and AC Moore, there is Amandalintz (I think just above Nashua), and Lighthouse Scrapping in Southern New Hampshire. Lighthouse also has a store in Salem NH. Both of these stores have lots of stickers, papers, die-cuts, embellishments, etc. I know these may be a bit far, but sometimes it is fun to take a long ride, especially when there is "treasure" at the end!

Thanks! I will have to try the store in Grafton. Dropped DH at Logan today and stopped at AC Moore in Woburn..we used to live up near there. Disappointed with their SB selection although it was a large store and I found some stuff for DSIL's baby shower favors. The AC Moore in Holyoke seems to have a better selection.

I am looking for the new MM definitions stickers and their new metal squares that have saying on them and their frames....anyone have any luck on those?

Amandalinzs or the Light House? I have been and use Amandalinzs but have never been to the Light house. How do they compare in stock and price?

thanks,

Laura

I live in Watertown and the AC Moore in Natick and Woburn and the Michael's in Burlington have supplies just nothing out of the ordinary. There is a party store in Belmont (called Party Needs) that has some scrapping supplies and a store in Bedford on Route 4/225 called "Scrapbooks, Etc" which is very small but has some nice stuff.

My favorite by far is Lighthouse in Salem - I am very willing to take the 45 minute drive to get there - it is right off I-93 and the supplies are awesome and they have great classes!

Look them up on the web at

Have you been to the LSS in Leominster?

I can't remember the name but I do have the phone # 978-534-3562

They had a lot of stuff I hadn't seen.

As to the Woburn ACMoore, they have a lot of the usual stuff and a few other things. I don't know if you got a chance to look around, but they stash Jolee's all over the place.

I live in Natick, and my boyfriend works part time at our Michael's here...even with his discount I have a hard time finding anything I like...LOL. So, I made my first trek to Right at Home Scrapbooking in N. Attleboro in early March and was in HEAVEN!!! What a place...they have everything...it's kind of tricky to get to but WELL worth it...I think it's the exit right after the Wrentham Outlets off 495.

I used to go to Lighthouse Scrapbooking up in Salem, NH but after a couple of trips up there I found their inventory low and not too much new...and I thought the owner was a bit rude...but that's just my opinion...you may want to give it a shot and see for yourself...

Also, whenever we go on vacation I find an LSS to shop at...there's one in Maryland that is AWESOME and a couple in PA I've been to that were very nice.

Mostly, though, I shop on-line...since New England seems to be very, very lacking in the scrapbook department.

You MUST get to the store in Grafton - it's great!! :) The ladies who own it are very friendly and helpful. They keep getting new things in all the time. They also have a frequent buyer card which they keep at the store (great so I won't lose it) - I forget what the program is for it. (type of discount after you spent a certain amount)

If they don't have something you want/need they will order it for you. They also have classes. It wouldn't be too far from you down rt. 9. Their web site has directions. They are closed sundays & mondays.

Watch out for the lady who owns the restaurant next door - she's not very nice! There is a dunkin donuts down the street, and lake wripple restaurant is across the street. It's a nice little area. You might want to go onto mapquest and plug in the address and see how far away it is - I bet it's not too bad.

I have also been to the store in Attleboro but it's been a while. That was also very good. The Michael's store in natick doesn't have too much - I was just there on wed. Our A.C. Moore in Bellingham has quite a bit, but there's nothing like a REAL scrapbook store!

While traveling I have been to stores in Seekonk, Falmouth, Hyannis & Sudbury. All have been ok. We are heading up to Maine this summer and I'll be checking out a few new ones (to me).

One of my favorite things at the Grafton store is a sign by the register that says -

Your husband called - he said buy whatever you want! :)

Oh my GOSH...the Lake Ripple Restaurant...I LOVE that place but haven't been there in AGES!!! We used to live in Blackstone so we went there a lot when my daughter was very, very young (she's now a mom herself, so that should tell you how long it's been...LOL!!!). I will have to have my boyfriend take me down there...for some reason I thought they had closed down:confused: but it must have been some other store...he'll LOVE the Lake Ripple...and I can shop!!!

Thanks tons,

Donna C.

Donna...I knew I was spelling Ripple wrong but nothing looked right...lol! I think we went there years ago but I'll have to try it again. Yes, you MUST get to the scrapbook store! You can have your bf drive you but he MUST wait in the car! It's so funny when women bring guys in there because the poor things just wander around not knowing what to do. And since the place is PACKED with stuf they are always in the way so us other shoppers have to shove them out of the way! :)

I think it's funny that someone else knows where Blackstone is! We are right down the street (literally) from the there here in mendon..

Jill

My boyfriend is a seasoned sb shopper;) He's even better than I am...he goes around the store and all I hear is "Honey, come here, you've GOT to see this!!!"...it's a riot...he's always a big hit in every LSS we visit...he starts chatting with the ladies and before you know it, he's giving advise on embellishments and colors, etc...it's so much fun to watch him. But, I guarantee once he gets close to Lake Ripple he'll forget all his charm and just want to eat:)

I know just where Mendon is...you have the Drive-in, right??? You're so lucky!!! We used to live on Lake Hiawatha in Blackstone so it was so easy to get out your way...now it's such a hike and we have my 3 yo grandson with us 99% of the time and he's not the best of car travelers...but since this Sunday is Mother's Day I'm sure I can convince my bf to take me out that way.

Wow, these are some great memories for me...THANK YOU.

I lived my first 24 yrs in Blackstone. BMR Class of 1982. Lived on Blackstone St up near Mendon town line (near corner of Elm St).

I MUST KNOW YOU!!!!!!!

Actually, I was born and raised in Natick and only lived in Blackstone for 2 years...then moved back to Natick. I love the Blackstone area, but you know how when you grow up somewhere else it's hard to make the adjustment?? That was me...so I'm back where I started...LOL

Donna C.

Donna - I lived in Natick for a lot of years...just left in 1986. I graduated from NHS in 1977. We lived in E. Natick over by the Weston line near Rivers school. Small world.

Check the scrapbook stores site to see if they are open this sunday as they usually aren't. You might just have to go on saturday. :)

So, you got one of those shopping guys? Cool! My DH is a stay-in-the-car-with-the-kids kind of guy.

Splsmtn99...I live off of Providence Road which is near Elm street.

Such a small, small world :)

Jill

Your last name isn't Shaugnessey, is it??? I also graduated NHS in 1977, and my uncle and his family lived on Hovey Avenue right behind Rivers Country Day School!!! As a matter of fact, Rivers now owns their house...they built a new one on Bacon Street!!! My maiden name is Collari....

Donna C.

Donna...wow, it really is a small world! I know the Collari's! (or I did) Jeff, Debbie, Danny? Did they have another one? Jeff was in my class. I lived on Alden Street, which is one of those three streets...Alden, Milford and then Hovey. My maiden name was Storer. I actully have my yearbook (I was on the staff) and I looked you up (:) ) but you didn't look familiar???

It's funny how people who grow up in Natick have a hard time leaving! My folks just left there after moving there in 1974 or so.

I'll be down there some time this week as I am looking at cars at Bernardi's on rt. 9.

I had my kids late - DD is 4 and DS is 8.

Jill

That's just TOO FUNNY!!! You got them all except Bobby...he's a bit younger than the rest...probably about 7 years younger than Debbie...now, please return to your yearbook and set it on FIRE!!! OH MY GOODNESS...I hate that picture...LOL. I hung out with a bunch of kid's from Wilson, even though I went to ***GASP*** Coolidge:) (All those "president" schools!!!)

My dd is almost 22 and my GRANDSON...yes, I said grandson...was 3 in January. We just brought him to Disney for the first time...I had forgotten how exciting that is...now I can't wait to take him back next year...WL next time...even though he adored the AKL...

Well, it truly, truly is a small world...amazing...very nice to have met you after all these years...

Donna C.

I've been to Right At Home and now I find that no other store compares. It's a long drive for me, but a couple of friends and I take "field trips" every now and then.

Aurora19, Scrapbooks, Etc. has closed down. A friend of mine from high school owned it and unfortunately it didn't work out for her. I guess there must not be as big a market for supplies around MA as compared to other parts of the country.

giatocj, I agree with you about the owner of Lighthouse. She isn't very nice at all. I've tried several times to talk to her about techniques, etc. and she's very curt in her answers. I guess not a "people person".

I really wish that there was a place like "Right At Home" around here. Although DH is glad there isn't!!
