MASSACHUSETTS....first State.......

I hadn't heard about this yet. Thanks for sharing!

Welcome to the Nanny State.

I am glad the people have the government to help protect them from themselves....

I have to say that I think it's total BS that they're doing this and I think the restaurants are going to suffer because of it :(

You know what, I am so sick of people saying what I should and shouldn't be eating. At least I know that my state will NEVER ban trans fats! Good ol New Orleans cuisine couldn't survive it!

*Getting into flame suit* I don't get it? :confused3 Stupidity is what it is. This is a liberal state at it's best folks. You can't be trusted to do what's right for yourself so the government's going to do it for you. I'm tired of this crap. A few people can't pull themselves away from the Mickey D's counter long enough to process whatever it is they just ate, so they get a few touchy-feel-good politicians to pass a bill for them. What a bunch of crap.

Sorry if I've offended anyone, but this irritates the snot out of me. What's the battle cry for GL tring to marry, "The government should stay out of the bedroom," or something like that. Well, the government should stay out of the kitchen.

This isn't a good thing....now they're telling us what to eat? What's next...they're going to come into our homes and tell us what we can or can not do?

Agreed. And frankly, some things simply taste better cooked that way.

You can make things differently, but it doesn't mean they will still be worth eating.

No flame here and like you said, liberal at it's best. I wish people would look at the bigger picture.....

GO MA :cheer2: I was born and raised in MA. It is a liberal, big brother type of a state. However, they are in the right about this subject IMHO. It IS the government's business because the government of MA foots the bill for a lot of people's healthcare. Fewer trans fats=better health. I doubt that the restaurants will suffer. You can still deep fry things w/o trans fats. You just need to use heathier oils and not REUSE the oil over and over.

BTW, we frequent a chain called "Jason's Deli," and they advertise NO TRANS FATS in any of their foods. The place is always packed with a mile-long line, so I don't think that this self-imposed policy is hurting them. Quite the contrary :cheer2:

This is one of the many reasons why I'm so ready to get out of this state and go back south.

And what comes next? I am already tired of the numerous eateries that only sell 1% or 2% milk - neither of which I can stomach.. My health, heart, and weight are fine and there isn't a medical reason in the world that I can't enjoy whole milk.. There have been times I have had to order food in one place - and then go someplace else to get some decent milk to drink with my meal..

When you allow (and/or encourage) this sort of thing, you never know where it's going to end.. Look at the new children's menus in WDW.. My DGD is a healthy eater - loves fresh fruit and veggies; etc. - and she could NOT choke down the bitter unsweetend applesauce for love or money and the main courses were so bland and dried out we ended up having to order her decent, edible food from the adult menus..

People need to be responsible for themselves.. Unless of course you (not you in particular - "you" in general) feel comfortable with the government legislating and controlling every single aspect of your life..
